Warm Wishes For A Dear Friend

This past weekend, I attended the NexCore show featuring the designs of my friend Neferia Abel. I have always marveled at Nef's endless creativity, her boundless seeming energy, her ability to juggle a busy family, a job, and her phenomenal creations for ~~Ivalde~~. I used to ask her when she found time to sleep. Today, Nef announced on her Blog that she was taking a break from Phil's Place for a while, at least a month. After working so tirelessly in the last month to launch two collections as well as a number of other items, and participating in a number of Halloween hunts, including the one I organized on Retrology, she has reached her limit. Nef it seems is human after all, she has a repetitive strain injury, Carpal Tunnel in her wrist, and what I can only imagine as a wrist raw from rubbing on her desk as she mouses about. Though her mind will not rest, her body must, and she will be very much missed by the many people who adore her.



Immediately after the NexCore show, I headed over to ~~Ivalde~~ to get a closer look at her newest releases, a real departure from much of her previous work, Nef has upped the ante significantly with her amazing Boutique Line. A modern and sophisticated turn for Nef, something very modern, yet with more then a touch of classic detailing. This amazing Viella look is so plush. Crafted in a texture that resembles white crocodile, it includes the sculpted hood, scarf,a sculpted dress, as well as a pair of matching gloves and tights. It looks like a hand knit creation to me, soft and warm, something you might wear to a skating party or to a winter ski retreat.



I pulled on a great chunky pair of equally warming Asuka Boots from Lassitude & Ennui in a complimentary Coal colour. I like the way the size and style of these boots really compliment the look of Nef's outfit. With so much going on in the dress, I am wearing only my (Caroline's) Gimcrack Diamond Solitaire Ring. I really like the way it looks over the crocodile gloves.



I needed a sleek wig to work under the amazing sculpted hood, and found this great two-toned Evette wig from Here Comes Trouble. The almost sullen look of Canimal Zephyr's Essence Skins, here in the Rose make-up, echoes my mood after finding out Nef will be away for a while. Luminous jewel like Hazel Eyes from Miriel and [Detour] Love Lashes.

I will miss you sweet generous Nef, heal fast, rest up, and come back when you are ready. I, along with all your other admirers, friends, and patrons will be awaiting your return.

Simply Elated!

I love shopping on my own doorstep, so whenever a new vendor joins the Retrology community, I gleefully skip into their shops to see what goodies I can add to my jam packed closets. When Kellie Iwish's (Elate!) joined the SIM last week, it was another case of "Where have you been all my SLife?" The first thing I picked up was this adorable Raeva Dress, which comes in several colour variations. I love red and black together, and the fine red seams on this minidress are just so well placed. I also really love the lace panels tucked into the bodice, it adds a little bit of sexy, mimicking a glimpse of lingerie. I love a little more coverage with a cute minidress, and with cooler weather settling in, these sweet Boudoir Legs in a Red Opaque style are just the ticket. **Battered Boudoir** provides some of the best hosiery to be had in-world, with several options of opacity and derniers, low-rise versions are also available for tummy baring short or skirts.



I am clearly as addicted to accessorizing as I am to the clothing I wear, and I always love finding the perfect pieces to work with an outfit. I have these very practical rules about necklaces, for instance, I never wear a necklace with a gown that has a high neckline, and I never clutter up a detailed cuff with bangles. So there is a method to my madness. In this case, the slightly street goth look I was going for made the choice of this Red Ruin Black Gothic Lolita Necklace a natural pick. I really wear this *UnTone* Black Heart Bracelet quite a bit, it adds interest without being too fussy. A low neckline and exposed ears make for an opportunity to wear a dangle earring, and I think these -EARTHTONES- Circle Earrings with Crystal Teardrops get a lot of mileage with the scripted crystals that can be colour changed to coordinate with pretty much anything. The bag was another great find from [Pink Outfitters], the Ribbon Tote is so cute, and it comes in some really nice bold colours, I love kitschy details, and the magazines, bottled water, and yes, that's a banana peeking out from inside, make me feel like I can power shop to my hearts content. Great opaque hose let you have a little fun with footwear, and these adorable Sassy wedges from Maitreya really work well here, with the bows at the ankles, and the peep toe, they make for a playful match to the dress. Caroline's Jewelry is the place to nab this great big Gimcrack Diamond Solitaire Ring, the most often worn item in my inventory.



I love two-toned hair, and some of the best available hands-down is from Here Comes Trouble. This Luna style is another winner, with height, flexi long strands, and a punky fresh look. These Exclusive two-toned wigs are on the whole fabulous, and I am busy collecting them all. One of my favorite skins from Celestial Studios is this amazing Infrared Make-up in the Charmed Line. It is pretty dramatic, yet not over-the-top, and I wear it with slightly more Gothic looks. Separated Lashes are from Cake, and Decollage provides these great Hazel Eyes that contrast so well with the red eye-shadow. To put it simply, I am elated with all my new finds from Retrology's newest vendors, and will be visiting their mainstores very soon.

Heirloom Pins & Memories

When I was a teenager, way back in the 80s', I had a Denim Jacket. It wasn't a fancy brand name, it wasn't the hottest thing on the block, but I made it mine. First I plastered the front chest pockets with tiny buttons featuring my favorite bands and artists. Wham, Duran Duran, Michael Jackson, and Cyndi Lauper. As I outgrew my geeky music stage, and removed those pins, I discovered my grandmother's jewelry box, full of fancy brooches and pins, tarnished metals and rhinestones. I adorned the jacket with these, and every time I would visit my grandmother or her friends, they would pass on more of these antique trinkets to me. I wish I had kept tabs on that Jacket, more so the pins, they are certainly in some box somewhere, but when I saw this amazing new Lady of The Pins sweater release by *Ki-Squared*, it brought back a flood of memories. The sweater has a brilliant knit texture, the creases are done to perfection, and the asymmetrical neckline and pin closures are so well done. Now released in another 6 colours, this sweater is a lovely addition to anyones wardrobe, I chose to layer it here with a sexy simple bra from *PERSONA*. I pulled out the blues in one of the broaches, and tinted this White Pearl Well Behaved Bra to a robin's egg blue. I think it makes the sweater look so much sexier. I also pulled out the darker blue in these great Blue Suede Pants from Celestial Studios, I really love the pant leg options wit these pants, flared, straight leg, or boot cut, how great is that!



Boots are the lovely *REDGRAVE* Smoke Leather Sculpties Boots, a really great pair to wear, whether full boot, or just the shoe parts under pants. I continued the antique feel with this fabulous Heirloom Necklace from Paper Couture, I love the small organza bow tied around the pendant, a lovely handmade looking detail. This great set of White Rattan Bracelets and Earrings Set from ::69:: again echos the blue details in the look, but gives it a little more of a jumbled casual feel. The rattan weave in the set echoes the weave in the sweater nicely.



I went back to Here Comes Trouble this week, looking for more of their fabulous Exclusive Two-Tones Styles. This Vesper style looks like a casual up-do from the front, and a messy punky ponytail in the back, I love that kind of dichotomy in one look. Another new to me skin from Canimal, this is the Essence of Ether make-up in the Grace tone, I simply adore the eye make-ups on these skins. Separated Lashes by Cake, and fabulous Brown Realistic Brights Eyes from **[Riddle]** round out this look nicely. Thanks to *Ki2* for the memories this great look evoked for me.

Sisters In Style - Poison Candy

Earlier this week I got a frantic IM for my RL twin sister Anessa Stine, who was thrilled to bits that Alla Ruff (Veschi) was releasing a whole Rockabilly Line of Clothing in conjunction with a Real-World clothing company. The line was produced as a commision through Rezzables and is available at the Cannery Rezzable location. With a name like Poison Candy, who could resist (check out their Website)! Poison Candy's slogan is "Fashion For Outlaws", and it's Real Life Home is in SIN CITY no less! I say Viva Las Vegas, Baby!

Since Anessa and I manage PIN UPS, one of the best places for a Rockabilly Riot event in-world, she contacted Alla to see if we could get some review copies... and OH JOY! Alla sent pretty much everything to us, and Anessa set up this adorable shoot. To say we LOVED these clothes doesn't even capture how great they are, we fought over who got to wear what, and we found them to be flawless and oh so very bad girl SEXY!

Saturday Work Wear

Saturday in-world is a rather frantic day for me, I have to plan the coming weeks events at PIN UPS and on Retrology, list them all on SLP and the Phil's Place Event Listings, and then make sure all the staff is able to work their shifts, or find people to cover. Then there is the blogging, the shopping, the work for my monthly Vain Inc. Magazine columns, and then all the stuff that pops up in the space of the day. So I usually like to take things nice and easy in the fashion department, and it was time to finally put this great Double Paradox Denim Skirt to good use. I think it worked perfectly with this adorable /artilleri/ Darla Shirt in Teal, and of course, I love a chance to wear some matching /artilleri/ eye-wear (I always fat-pack her glasses), with these sweet Marla Glasses in Teal.

I kept the rest of my accessories pretty simple, again diving into my fat-pack of Periquita Mary Squares shoes for this great Mint pair. I slipped on a Green Bangle set from Here Comes Trouble, and a sweet Magic 8 Ball Ring from Funk-O-Rama. I had been waiting for the right relaxed look to wear this amazing Tres Blah Bloomin' Hobo Bag with. It is really adorable, and comes with shoulder or hand hold versions.



This wig is one of the new styles from *0 Style* (Zero Style) called Ayase in their brilliant white Silver colour. Love the messy up-dos from *0 Style*, they are so sweet and I love the flexi bits that frame the face. I am wearing a favorite skin from Celestial Studios, and perhaps the most amazing Hazel Eyes I have found yet, from Miriel. So I look relaxed, now I can roll up my sleeves and get stuff done... oh wait, my sleeves are pre-rolled, gotta love Antie!

Anything But Rainbow Bright

Sometimes you pick your clothes based on your moods. When I am feeling a little like I want to go un-noticed, or hide in the background, I go for dark neutrals and simple shapes. For the most part this look is all shrinking violet, but as you can see... there is also the illusive Rainbow on the horizon. This Dress and tights are a sweet almost Gothic Lolita look from Honey Kitty (*H+K*), the Cloudy Bambina comes is a dozen layer options and includes the tights (and several accessories, not worn here).

I felt like the sleeveless top with lace trip was a little to open for my pre-spring mood, so I added a great Ribbed Sweater on the Skirt Layer. From Lala, is came White but is Mod so I tinted a muted olive to match the dress. Speaking of tinting, I chose a necklace from Swallowtail, the Knit Bead in White, also tinted a dusty Navy shade to match. I chose one of my many pairs of Dune boots from Maitreya, this Black pair keeps things slender and sleek, and are really a great pair to have in your closet. I also pulled in a great piece of Kitsch, a Rainbow Brite Lunch Box from illuminare, a pop of colour and fun so things didn't get too dreary. I pulled on a Sanskrit Cuff from Naughty Designs for a little more polish.



This great messy Brandi wig is from Here Comes Trouble, and I musy go back soon for more great styles, I barely touched the surface of what they have to offer. This skin is a favorite Freebie Skin from the biancaF. update group, from *QS*, it is sweet and I love the mustes lip and dramatic bur soft eyeshadow. Banana Who?

Ok, so... Prom and The Re-Opening of PIN UPS Literally knocked me out, we were packed to the gills, and it was a crash-tastic time! So I have been a little behind on the blogging, but now it is time for a little catch-up! The day of Prim [Virtual but still A Blast], I decided to put an easy casual look together, and I started it off with these great Tres Blah! Sunny Jeans. Love the colour of them, and the shading is really nicely done. I wanted to stick with a colourful theme, so I went with this fabulous layered T-Shirt (On Jacket Layer) from Ki-Squared. Called the Banana Mayhem Layered Top, I love the kitsch and the colour of it, and it really makes putting a look together so easy.

I slid into some fabulous comfy flats from Shiny Things, these Francoise Flats in Mango are simply flawless, and I have them in 3 different colours, so you know they gotta be good. Some bangles from Boing Fromage add a little more colour, and the mismatched sets look like I threw them on while dashing to the mall for some last minute Prom related goodies. This Sea Suede Purse, one I have had for quite a while, from Naughty Designs is adorable, I got my hair brush and my keys, and I am ready to rock. I threw on one of my all time casual necklaces, this Picture Pendant from Canimal is great and you can change the picture by clicking on it.



More fabulous Two-Toned Exclusive Hair from Here Comes Trouble, this is the Ajilee in Black, and I love the flexi ponytail in the back, and the height of the semi-braided crown. This skin, a Freebie Subscribe-O-Matic gift from *QS* to the biancF. group is so amazing, I love the eyes on it, very smokey but not too dramatic, and the neutral lip is very sweet. I can't wait to see the full line of *QS* Skins. Really loving theses BBBM Splatter eyes for their light colour and the way they look so expressive, and again Love Lashes from Detour make an appearance. I am all set to go grab that Super Shiny lip-gloss for Prom Night!

Very Precious Metals

Feeling Like I have been lacking a little shine lately, so I though it was time to get the lead out and get metallic. I picked up this great jacket and jeans combo from Digit Darkes at the Relay For Life Clothing Fair a few weeks back, and I decided to throw it on and see what I could work with it. It is called the Digit'all Tracks outfit, and includes the tube top, jacket, and cuffed capris, this is the Graphitee combination, but it comes in a bunch of hot colours. Very cute, and really leaves a lot of room for funky rockin' accessories.

I started with these great Armidi Gisaci Oxford Leather Ankle Boots in Silver II, and they really pick up nicely on the silver of the jacket. A bracelet from *UnTone* in black and silver, again a nice match and really quite a cool looking item, with the interesting textures on the sculptie hearts. Nice to see sculpties in Jewelry too, less prims and some really creative pieces on the market. I belted up with this fabulous Muism Double Zip Belt, which comes in a studded version as well. I think the flexi prim flaps are really nicely done, giving it a real movement most belts are sadly lacking. Always happy to wear a little Violet Voltaire, I threw on this great and very intricate (237 Prim) Angel Necklace, it comes with matching earrings too. A Cute little purse from Nerdy Birdy means I am ready to go back to work collecting Red Sticks in the ongoing hunt!

I am wearing one of my fabulous new biancaF. skins, this is the Bloom make-up on the Ivory-fata skin tone. I just love how luminescent this skin is, and an really not looking forward to the Windlight Viewer I have yet to install for fear it may change the way my pictures turn out. More hair from HCT, this funky Smitten style is really cute. I am wearing amazing BBBM eyes, and yep... Detour's fab Love Lashes once again. Red Sticks, here I come!

Easy Breezy Steps into Spring

Spring may bring with it a whole lot of Sunshine and Tulips and All Kinds of Fresh New Things, but in RL, my allergies have come back with a vengeance. Good thing there is no Pollen or Dust in our virtual world. What is also brings is the return of a bare leg, and wonderful strappy sandals, and colour, colour, colour! This look started after Draco and I went to check out the new /artilleri/ releases this week. Antonia Marat, I Love You! I wanted to buy fatpacks of everything, but seriously, I rarely wear the same thing twice, so having the same thing in a bazillion colours is even more likely to sit in my closets. I instead called upon Draco to pick one colour in all of the new releases for me, and he chose this lovely Green Carla Circle Skirt, and the fabulous crisp White Carlita Top. I love the prim tie detail on the top, and instantly fell in love with this amazing skirt with a slightly higher and belted waist. The skirt moves brilliantly, and the texturing is absolutely flawless. I am more then impressed with Antonia's skills and how they have evolved over the years.

I wasn't sure what shoes to choose, and then remembered some amazing Sandals that Anessa gave me last week, the new =DeLa*= Celine Sandal. When she dropped them on me (love having a shoes blogging sister), I didn't have time to look at the colours, but was over the moon when I found this pair in the Wordsworth combination that matched the skirt and blouse to perfection! The are a lovely feminine sandal that are simply perfect for a bare leg, with sweet fabric bows at the ankle, and a lovely gemstone on the top of the sandal. Wow! I needed a little bit of jewelry here, and remembered this fabulous set I picked up from Violet Voltaire recently, called the Girl Germs Cameo Set, this one in Butterfly in an Olive colour. Again, a match to the outfit, both in femininity and colour choice. Violet does simple amazing tiny prim work. I pulled in one of the new Paper Couture bags, this one appropriately named The Blossom Bag in Blanc (White). Very Fresh, Very Spring.

More amazing hair from Here Comes Trouble, and I must say, the two-toned styles, like this one, are becoming fast faves and helping to sooth my broken heart over the missing Old Gravy. This style is called Satelina, and the best part is that the hairband/bow is colour script change to touch, so you can match it with what you are wearing. I love details like that. Again, I am wearing my review copy of the new biancaF. skins, and actually made the jump to buy some yesterday, finding 2 I really wanted, and luckily they were also available as part of a three-pack, with another nice make-up choice for $2200LaLas. Considering the skins are a very reasonable $1000LaLas each, getting a third for only $200LaLas was a deal and a half! Hazel Eyes from Decollage, and Love Lashes from Detour.



Every Canadian girl loves a good Donut, and when I met the ladies behind the new Fresh Baked Goods Brand this week, soon to open their main store on Retrology, Sweetie Pye passed me a preview copy of their soon to be released Bangles. This is the Sprinkled Donut Inset Gem Bangle, and is is so pretty, but best of all, it has a touch scripted bangle to 12 different yummy colours! I can't wait to see the line when Sweetie and her partners Dessert Furst and Sugar Babii open their shop at the end of the month.

A Coating of Many Colours...

Saturday was event hopping day, and event hop I did. I started of at The Ivalde and Elegance Hats Show Under the Big Top at NexCore, and then caught the amazing show at Best of SL Boulevard for the opening of the SIM. Since my first stop was literally a Circus, I wanted to go for bright and fun colours, and needed look no further than this amazing ensemble from :bijou:. This is the Linda in Green, and includes the bustier, Corset belt, shorts, leggings, gloves, and prim/stocking leg-warmers. It also comes in half a dozen other colour combinations, all utterly fabulous, and all ready to wear as a set, or to take apart and use individually. The system elements are really brilliantly utilized in this look, and it makes it well worth the price for all the ways you can work it. And even better, :bijou: has just remodelled their shop and put out oodles of new stuff, it really is worth a trip!

This look was so complete, I didn't feel it needed much in the way of accessories, but since my favorite colour this season is yellow, I wanted to kick in a little more from my box of Crayolas. This adorable Yellow Clutch from Tres Blah! is a wonderful item that can really make almost any look more polished, and is just one of the shades of yellow to have this season. I was dying for a chance to wear these awesome Slinky Stilettos from Maitreya in this tart-sweet Yellow colour, and opted for the steel tipped heels to go with the metal of the buttons on the pants. I was feeling a bit of the Hip-Hop Diva Vibe here, so threw on a Chunky Heart Necklace from Miam Miam as well.

I am wearing one of my new Canimal skins, the Essence of.. PinUp in Grace Tone. I really am enjoying them, and can't wait to see what new make-up options Canimal Zephyr will release next... I can't help it, I want more! The wig I am sporting is another bit of fun from Here Comes Trouble, again in the fabulous two-toned Exclusive Pack. I love this style, called Nalirra, for it's awesome back combed beehive top, and the streaks of blond to contrast the black. Hazel Eyes from Decollage, and once again, my beloved Love Lashes from Detour. Who says you can't wear the whole box of Crayolas at once? Not Me!

They Call Me Mellow Yellow

About a week ago, while checking the Fashion Planet feeds, I saw this fabulous NEW outfit from ::eLDee::, and knew I had to have one. I love high waisted pants, and I just thought the colour combinations offered, and the amazing lovely spring fresh floral prints on the top, were divine. I headed over to ::eLDee:: this week to pick up this outfit, the Kiki 4, although all of the colour combinations available are lovely. I particularly love yellow, and so I decided to work my yellow accents, since it is the colour to have this season.

I added in these amazing chunky earrings from Creamshop, so huge (and this is the Medium size too!). The Glam earrings in Lemon are so amazing, love the details and in RL they would stretch the heck out of my earlobes, but in pixelated form they are fabulous! I pulled in more yellow with this great bag from Pampered Princess, a shop I never had even heard of before I stumbled on it this week. I got some really great items, but this Leather Purse in Honey is just so great. Any excuse to wear some Stiletto Moody is good enough for me, and I was thrilled to slip my feet into these Gold Foxy Slingbacks once again, they are so well made and always class up an outfit. I pulled in some gold accessories to go with the gold buttons on the pants, a great bracelet from {Junk}, called Tangled Antique Gold Bangles, and also decided to wear this great Long Gold Necklace from Swallowtail.

Let's talk skin for a moment. This skin is a Review Copy of the new releases from biancaF. and I must say, I can't stop looking at my face to check it out. It is just so darn pretty. I have never worn a skin with a glossy almost luminescent tone to it, and love this one. The highlighting on the face is perfection, and I took a good look at the body and it is really nice, no seams or anything that would be of concern. I did think the shading in the butt crease was a bit dark, but that is just a personal preference, and let's face it, no one is seeing my bum crack if I can help it. I am also wearing some new hair from Here Comes Trouble, another new to me shop, and I am loving the two-toned versions of their new releases. This one is simply called In and I think it is great, reminds me of the still missing in action Old Gravy. Love Love Love my Love Lashes from Detour, and still rocking my deep dark Hazel Eyes from Decollage. OK, so I may not be a very Mellow person, but I got the Yellow thing down!
