Everybody Hurts.

Look Of The Day [Mar. 17/10] 1

I am having a rough couple of, well, lets just say a rough time of it and sometimes it just seems that there is no light at the end of that tunnel. We have all been there to some degree, whether it is a fleeting moment of sadness, or full scale clinical depression, everybody hurts sometime. Some people seem to have a natural resilience to it, while others seem to utterly falter. Then there are those of us who have been fighting for so long, that the battle wears us down like shelter in a storm. We are strong at first, but eventually, the rain and winds wear us down, so there is just less and less of us there to keep it all together. Sometimes, no matter how hard you try to keep it together, you just find yourself exposed and raw, fragile and overly sensitive to the world in general. This is where I find myself living lately, in that battered and broken place that has me hurting beyond hurt, and not sure if I can recover.

Look Of The Day [Mar. 17/10] 2

I didn't think I would be blogging again, certainly not in this mood, but I wanted to change my look in-world to show how I feel; the fragile and the broken, the worn and the weary. I started with a pair of distressed jeans from **[Riddle]**, and decided to see what my dear friend Neferia Abel of -L'Abel-had sent me of her new releases. This lovely Malin shirt, with it's fragile chiffon cuffs just worked for me. It is lovely, and I love to see Nef doing separates. I chose a pair of well worn and reworked boots from *REDGRAVE*, the absolutely brilliant Girls' Bikers have been overhauled to be even more perfect, as if that were possible. I adore that each boot is different, the worn twisted and well loved leather like a shield. The fragile and perfect KessKreations Karen Earrings are so lovely here, the customization script allowed me to match them to my look, and the fine prim work, which is not normally my 'cup of tea' is too precious and precise to be ignored. The ring is Paper Couture's Diamond and Rose Bouquet Ring. The final addition, was the handbag. I didn't have one I wanted to use, but I knew I hadn't been to Bare Rose Tokyo for ages, and know they have the most brilliant and inexpensive bags, so I popped on over and was in love on first sight with the Daisuki Bag, here in Brown. For a mere $140 LaLas, I was set, with a great bag, fabulous flexi and sculpted details, and 3 hold options.

Look Of The Day [Mar. 17/10] 3

I knew I wanted to return to this absolutely stunning T U L I Kalista crying skin, since I have been crying endlessly for days. It is flawless, and the non-crying versions are next in line once I save up my pennies, as they are lovely and have so many make-up options. I wanted a hair style that felt like it was sheltering me from the elements, that I could hide behind, but was still chic and precious. *Pazazz Hair* offers this stunning Riha wig in a brilliant choice of shades, this is from a solids pack. Lashes are from LeLeutka, and eyes are my precious treasured Miriel gems, that are unfortunately no longer available for sale.

Sick & Tired

I am having trouble composing my thoughts lately, but I am listening to a lot of music, which I find helps. I am moving to a new place (RL) on Monday, so I may be scarce in the next few days. Today's look was inspired by a song that is stuck in my head now, so rather then ramble on about the clothing, I thought I would give you the lyrics to ponder. The song of the day is "Sick And Tired" by Anastacia. Shopping details and credits follow the lyrics.

Look Of The Day [July 4/09] 1

My love is on the line
My love is on the line
My love is on the line
My love is on the line

(Punjabi Lyric) Dil laa liya be-parwa de naal

A little late for all the things you didn't say
I'm not sad for you
But I'm sad for all the time I had to waste
'Cause I learned the truth
Your heart is in a place I no longer wanna be
I knew there'd come a day
I'd set you free
'Cause I'm sick and tired
Of always being sick and tired

Look Of The Day [July 4/09] 2

Your love isn't fair
You live in a world where you didn't listen
And you didn't care
So I'm floating
Floating on air

Oh.. yeah...

No warning of such a sad song
Of broken hearts
My dreams of fairy tales and fantasy, oh
Were torn apart
I lost my peace of mind
Somewhere along the way
I knew there's come a time
You'd hear me say
I'm sick and tired
of always being sick and tired

Look Of The Day [July 4/09] 3

Your love isn't fair
You live in a world where you didn't listen
And you didn't care
So I'm floating
Floating on air

Your love isn't fair
You live in a world where you didn't listen
And you didn't care
So I'm floating
Floating on air

My love is on the line
My love is on the line
My love is on the line
My love is on the line

My love is on the line

Your love isn't fair
You live in a world where you didn't listen
And you didn't care
So I'm floating
Floating on air

Pansies Are For Memories

Look Of The Day [May 13/09] 2

Pansies, are a flower that symbolized memories. I have been running through my memories lately, the good and the not so good. Sometimes memories haunt you, and other times they bring comfort. When I think of pansies, I think of my grandmother. She was the most loving individual I have ever known, she had this energy of love about her, she accepted everyone for who they were, and she never ever complained, no matter how hard her life got. She will be gone 12 years in August, and I can hardly believe it. She died from complications of Cancer of the Liver. She was ready to go, she missed my grandfather who had died when I was just a child, and she was at peace with herself. I was not so ready to let her go, but that is true of loss in general, we are never ready, we never want to see it coming. I was there when she passed, at her side, in her home, caring for her mid-way through my nursing school training. I had never seen anyone die, though I had seen someone already gone in my travels as a nursing student, and it was not a frightening thing. But I blamed myself for a long time, since I had given her a dose of morphine to treat her pain minutes before she passed. I felt it was my fault, now I know I could not have stopped it, she was in a coma at the time. I miss her every day of my life, she was my best friend. She loved pretty things, and I know she would have loved this dress.

Look Of The Day [May 13/09] 1

This Floratta Long Dress in a Pansy print by *Reale* is so lovely, so elegant, yet casual and comfortable at the same time. I think it incredibly well textured, with lovely lace edged skirts and flexing ties at the neck. It comes in several prints, but the moment I saw pansies, I saw a favorite flower of my grandmother's and knew I had to have this version.

Look Of The Day [May 13/09] 4

How do you accessorize a dress so lovely, how do you add interest without taking anything away? I was thrilled to come upon the lovely and appropriately named Melancholy Set in White from {Violet Voltaire}, something I picked up at the amazing Armoire Jewelry Showcase. The floral theme and colour fit so well, and the delicate nature of the prim work is so very feminine. I added a simple Pearl Ring from Caroline's Jewelry, and The Blossom Bag in Blanche from Paper Couture to finish the look. The perfect simple yet elegant shoe is the Stiletto Moody Pinup Pump in Patent, this is the colour change version, the one I would recommend, as the colour options are amazing.

Look Of The Day [May 13/09] 3

Another lovely up-do style from TRUTH, the Victoria style is perfection for a summer night out in a fresh dress. You can see the casual curls, and it is easy to wear with long earring or an up-turned collar. This skin is another lovely colorful mod by -AnaLu-, the *InRainbows* line is really great for all those fans of natural lipped skins with a more dramatic eye. My eyes are by Miriel, and lashes are from MMS (now LeLutka).

I hold on to my memories tight, sometimes too tight where it concerns the sad ones. But I do have something in my possession that is now more precious then the pressed pansies from my grandmother's 85th birthday party. Before she died, I found a book called "To Our Children's Children". In it are lists of questions to ask your grandparents or parents, asking them to recall moments of their lives. You can use it to document your own life for your children, or use it to interview someone else. The questions are wonderful, and before she died, I managed to tape-record my grandmother answering a great many of them. I haven't been able to listen to them yet, not sure why, but I am ready to sit and listen to the memories, and remember her, and her voice, and most importantly her brilliant deep belly laugh.

Party Girl

Look Of The Day [February 1/09] 1

It's one of my favorite movies of all time, 1995's Party Girl starring Parker Posey the all-time it girl of independent film. Parker Posey plays a savvy and sassy party girl, with a wardrobe to die for, and a great collection of fantastic friends, but she needs to get real and get a job in order to keep a roof over her head. If you have never seen it, you are missing out on one of the best fashion mash-up wardrobes I have seen on the silver screen, all set against a gritty New York backdrop. This Dagmar dress from ~~Ivalde~~ Couture, paired with a messy wig and heavily lined eyes, made me feel every bit the "Party Girl", arriving home after a heavy night of partying. Neferia Abel used sculpted roses on the bodice and gloves, and the skirt has a really great transparent sculpted layer that gives it the look of organza. I love the juxtaposition of a glam cocktail dress and gloves with the mussed up-do wig, Pamela, from Exile. It has that night after the party look, as does the PXL Creations skin with the fabulously dark and smudged lined eyes. The eyes look more dramatic with Cake's Separated Lashes over Freak Fantasia Glassy Mustard Green Eyes.

Look Of The Day [February 1/09] 2

I decided to work the amazing copper brown colour of the dress with a delicious hit of Mint in the form of (CREAMSHOP) Plain Tights. I love wearing coloured tights, and the soft mint makes the great (Shiny Things) Tuli Pumps really stand out. They are a perfect match to the dress, and I couldn't have planned it better. I opted for some big uncut Turquoise baubles from Swallowtail, including the great Uncut Gems Necklace and the Natural Stone Earrings. I really like the raw look of the gems next to the polished glamor of the dress. I picked up another great Paper Couture bag, this time opting for the almost casual carry-all look of The Tasty Bag in Bleu. Also wearing my Caroline's Jewelry Gimcrack Diamond Solitaire Ring.

Black Orchid

Look Of The Day [February 23/09] 1

I have a serious hair addiction, this will come as little surprise to most people who see my blog, I rarely wear the same wig twice. But the moment I spotted this adorable Piggy Moffitt wig at PUDGE, it was love at first 'cam'. I think I wore it for about four days in a row, and was really hesitant to take it off, it is really an adorable do, with the great little stray tufts of hair. PUDGE makes some great wigs, they also have sales on from time to time, and a few days ago I notices that this Piggy Moffitt style was part of this week's sale, so now is the time to go explore PUDGE on Floyd for yourself.

Look Of The Day [February 23/09] 2

This sweet Lyan Dress from Curious Kitties was a surprise find in my inventory, I think I must have purchased it on my last trip there during the Summer 2008 CSR Rally. I must have spotted it and snapped it up when I was collecting up stamp cards. I forgot about it entirely, a very bad habit of mine, but when I was looking for a classy and fun party dress, I rediscovered it and was glad to have it. It is an adorable sleeveless dress, with a sculpted collar, and a prim corset tied waist. The skirt is comprised of three prim part, which gives it a really nice fullness, and I love the crisp white trim on the edge as well. It made choosing shoes particularly simple, as I opted for my Black pair of Maitreya ChiChi Pumps and used the white rims, pulling in a plain pair of (CREAMSHOP) Black Tights to give the white details a little pop. When ever I accessorize in a hurry, I find myself going for favorite bangles from ~*Fresh Baked Goods*~, they are scripted, so I can match them with anything. I chose a nice feminine bag from Paper Couture, The Blossom Bag, to work with my little party dress look.

Look Of The Day [February 23/09] 3

Another stunning make-up from -AnaLu- *In Rainbows* mods, this one is the rosepurple version, very pretty and femninine. I am also wearing lashes from MMS and eyes from Freak Fantasia. A pretty and pulled together party dress look that I wore to a very special party for fellow blogger and absolute sweetheart Hethr Engel's in-world RL baby shower. This is one of those looks that I wish I could pull out of my virtual closet and own in RL.

Geek In The Pink

Look Of The Day [January 3/09] 1

I am an unabashed geek, I rather take pride in this fact. I can dress myself up to look rather together and chic in my virtual life, but in actuality, it is not something I am capable in doing in everyday life. It's more like knowing the theory, but being unable to put them into practice. Case in point, this particular look. Polished, classic, easy, and using things that have been in my inventory for ages. Oh well, at least I can pull it off somewhere. This look started with this fabulous jacket from Bare@Rose Tokyo. The Anastasia jacket is part of a complete set, including a skirt and the jacket in several colours, just another reason that June Dion ranks among my all-time favorite designers. It almost goes without saying that the prices are beyond reasonable, so you can indulge practically guilt-free. It is a really great jacket, the use of sculpted pieces it done skillfully, and the texturing and shading on it is really nicely done. Small details like the buttons on the cuffs make it really special.

Look Of The Day [January 3/09] 2

I wanted to let the jacket be the focal point of this look, so went with classic basics, a white shirt and dark denim slacks. Both of these elements are treasured pieces from *LAST CALL, no longer available, but you can certainly find similar items in a number of shops around the grid. I can't stress enough my appreciation of designers who put their system items on all possible layers. It is such an added value piece, and really makes a sale an easy choice as a consumer. I love jeans on underpants and pant layers, regardless of whether it has prim cuffs or not, and I love long shirts to have an underpants layer and shirt/undershirt option. The more conscious I am of making my money go further, the more important these options are, and though time consuming for designers to create, I hope more start to do it. This look only works because the blouse can be worn tucked in and not on jacket layer, without my bare belly hanging out. The shoes are a favorite pair of TESLA 'Diva' Heels, a great clunky and stylish laced oxford style pump.

Look Of The Day [January 3/09] 3

Accessories include the amazing Paper Couture Shell Statement Necklace from their latest collection, as well as the Princess Ring, something I have had for over a year now. I must say, along with options in system layers, I appreciate designers who offer chest and spine options for collars and necklaces, as well as attachment point options for prim skirts. But if that is not always available, the ability to copy items and choose my own attachment points are highly appreciated. I also pulled in a fabulous bag from Bare@Rose, the Atropus bag is fun and pretty, and yet another one of the must-have bags in the Haute Couture section of the store. The Bare@Rose bags come with several hold options, like hand or forearm, or even shoulder holds, always a bonus.

Essentials start with this great [Aden] wig, called Tori, it is another one of the reasons I love short hair in-world. I love the edgy shaggy look of this cut, and used it recently for my Vain Inc. Magazine Look Of The Month when I needed the perfect rocker cut for my Joan Jett look. Skin is Celestial Studios Charmed Line, always my favorite comfort skins, it is the colourful make-ups that really have my heart. Likely a product of growing up in the 80s' when make-up colours were exploding, I love to have options. Eyes are from Miriel, and Lashes are Cake's Bedroom Lashes.

I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues

Look Of The Day [November 26/08] 1

Sometimes, when I am putting together a "Look Of The Day" for my blog, things just seem to come together almost organically. Other times, not so much. When I try to really work a mash-up, I try to think outside the 'folder' so to speak, taking things that normally would not occur to me, and reworking them. I occasionally have some success with this exercise, other times, it just turns out all wrong. This look has literally been sitting in a draft form since November of last year when I wore it, I just wasn't completely certain I was happy with it. I love all the individual parts, I love most of it, but I am not sure it it works as one look, and that was holding me back a bit. Afraid of being judged for a less then stellar post, I was my own editor, and held back. Today, I decided that the exercise itself was interesting, and that I should just go for it and accept that I am not perfect. This look may be a mistake in someone's eyes, and maybe that is a good thing to reveal, that even those that are known for doing it 'right' occasionally are unsure if they have.

Look Of The Day [November 26/08] 2

This look started with the need to craft a look based in the colour blue for an event at PIN UPS. I started the way I always do, typing the word "blue" into search, and seeing what comes up. The first thing I hit on was a dress from *DP Serendipity, the Amenohini_Odekake dress. I had forgotten about it, like so many other things I own, and when I threw it on realized it had some blue in it, but was not exactly what I had imagined. I liked it though, well enough to try to work with the top of the dress and see what I could do with it. The striped top is from the dress, which is adorable and as you can see, versatile. It is actually strapless, the tiny straps you see are part of it, so I wanted something more to cover my arms, but it had to be on the undershirt layer. I have no idea how I aquired it, but was lucky to find a Leotard Set from (PixelDolls), it was likely a freebie at some point, and this one was in pink, but tinted up beautifully to an almost exact match to the blue. Joy! I went with a high-waisted Pencil Skirt from Ingenue, here in a lovely Aubergine, making use of the jacket layer for the upper part of the skirt. I get all excited seeing the possibilities of layers, what can I say. I pulled in more blue with some [MG Fashion] socks, and tied it all down with some great ETD Shoes ankle boots.

Look Of The Day [November 26/08] 3

I was dying to wear this great huge Statement Necklace from Paper Couture, so may have rushed it a bit, but it was too fabulous to resist really. It is one of the parts that has me scratching my head as to it's success in this look. Some big stacked bangles from .+*aya V.*+., which I modded slightly to match, a basic hoop earring, and my engagement ring round out my accessories. I have to say that this Jaden Bag from Cachet is a favorite of mine, I own it in two colour variations, and just love the shape and shading/texturing of it.

I admit I got away from the "blue" intentions of the look, so made a save with this huge-tastic hair from Pudge:. Bowie's in Space in a great Blue Black shade is a big, lopsided pile of love. The lovely porcelain-like skin is from [RockBerry], eyes are Freak Fantasia, while Lashes hail from Celestial Studios. Feel free to let me know whether this look is a hit or a miss for you, I am still on the fence. But I think a little glimpse into the process of creating a mash-up, a willingness to make mistakes, and the guts to put it out there for public scrutiny (or as public as things get on my little blog here) is a good thing.

Happy New Year...

Look Of The Day [January 1/09] 1

With 2008 securely behind us, I am ready to make some new resolutions of the practical sort. I want to say I will be a more consistent blogger once again, and will try to blog daily, but the fact is that I have learned a little something about balancing priorities in the last year, so I will not make promises I know cannot be kept. I want to promise to showcase things new and fabulous and undiscovered, but as I am still on my no-shopping diet, I can only promise to work with what I have and highlight new ways to interpret things already in my wardrobe. But what I do resolve is to be constant, to be fair, and to be honest. I have and will always blog the things I love and treasure, and find value in. I blog as a personal exercise that I am happy to share with anyone who might be interested.

Look Of The Day [January 1/09] 3

Last night I DJd for a total of four hours, a marathon of two amazing back-to-back New Year's Eve parties at PIN UPS surrounded by my friends and the people I love. I wanted to wear something I could actually see myself stepping out in to a RL party in. Something elegant and comfortable, stylish and timeless, and something I already owned. I was thrilled to rediscover this amazing Paper Couture Silk Gypsy gown. It is from a previous season, and may no longer be available, but it is so amazingly well done. I love the puddle of the fishtail train, the corset style waist, and the billowy sleeves. There is nothing more classic then a great black gown. This one will stand the test of time, and is a treasured piece of my wardrobe.

Look Of The Day [January 1/09] 2

I went with simple accessories, notably the ~*Fresh Baked Goods*~ Jujubes Gems Antique Silver Earring and Bangles that I am also wearing in this month's issue of Vain Inc. Magazine's Look Of The Month. I choose to wear the Onyx stones here, but they are scripted to offer a choice of twelve gem tones, and I love the chunky big gems that are really classic yet a real hot trend this season in particular. I am also wearing my Caroline's Jewelry Gimcrack Diamond Solitaire Ring, which of course most know is my engagement ring and I am rarely without it. The bag is a fabulous freebie from (Yummy), and if it hadn't been free I would have bought it in a heartbeat, I love the look of this amazing Vintage 1920's Black Bead Bag. I am a true handbag addict, and as I count the days till I will shop again, I have a growing list of purses I will be buying first. The shoes are the absolutely impeccable Maitreya Virtue in Patent Black that were a treasured find at the Shoe Fair this year. They are spectacular, stylish, and very chic.

Look Of The Day [January 1/09] 4

This Glamour hair has been in my inventory for well over a year, and is an elegant favorite of mine. I hope it is still available at Panache, though when I purchased it the shop was called Hose Queen. It also comes with some jeweled combs that are really spectacular as well. Skin is my special occasion favorite from Celestial Studios, as are the amazing Lashes. Eyes are simply stunning Hazel Eyes from Miriel.

Wishing you all the very best in the coming year, in both your real and virtual lives. Most importantly, be true to yourselves, be honest about your opinions, and don't be afraid to step away from the herd. Dance to the beat of your own drummer, and do it like no one is watching. Oh, and one more resolution, I need to stop taking myself so darn seriously and have more fun! Happy 2009!

Leaving On A Jetplane

Look Of The Day [November 29/08] 1

When I recently DJd for the re-opening of the Avatrait Gallery, I wanted to wear something classy, but not too formal, edgy and unique, but still tasteful. I tried to remember what new things I had that would fit the bill, and discovered this great Jetset dress in Tokyo from :bijou:. It includes two skirt versions, system and prim, bur I threw the folder on so fast I got both, and decided I really liked the way they looked together. This dress really re-minds me of a black silk dress I wore to s special event when I was about 17 years old, to this day I refuse to allow my mother to give it away, almost 20 years later, it is still a favorite, even though it no longer fits. The dress has a great system layer belt, with accentuates the waist, and adds interest, but also gave me the cute to go with brown and gold accessories. I really love the big flared bell sleeves too.

Look Of The Day [November 29/08] 3

I kept with the winter season look by adding a pair of **Battered Boudoir** hose, I love the different colours and options in Eloria LeShelle's hosiery. Any Canadian woman would never go out in the winter without hose or tights under a dress, so I naturally work it in-world too. The shoe solution that seems to be endlessly wearable are the Maitreya ChiChi Pumps in Black, with the colour change rims, here I chose gold. I pulled in a big clutch from *Muism* to add a little glam to the look. I went with wooden and brown accessories, and normally would not put black and brown together, but I think it really works here. The Polished Wood Hoop Earrings are one of Paper Couture's newest releases, they are really nice looking. I love this Luc Jewelry Ganesha Necklace , but I am enchanted by Hinduism in general, and the length was perfect with the neckline of the dress. My ring is from Caroline's Jewelry.

Look Of The Day [November 29/08] 2

Diving into my hair folder, I wanted and edgy short style, and settled on the ETD Aveda Short Crop 2 in Silver. The skin is from Celestial Studios, another favorite make-up, and I always come back to my Celestial Charmed Line Skins whenever I want to look like myself again. Lashes are from [Detour], with eyes from Freak Fantasia.

This is definitely a jet set look, and one that can work in semi-formal situation. It stands out without be too glitzy, and most importantly, made me feel comfortable and stylish at the same time. It's really interesting to re-discover my wardrobe, including the many hundreds of things I have never worn before.

Living Dead Girl

Look Of The Day [Nov.20/08] 1

I didn't realize until yesterday that there is a general love-in for the amazing June Dion of Bare Rose Tokyo on the feeds. If you check my previous posts by tags, I have done dozens of posts featuring Bare Rose fashions. I have always adored the amazing creativity, selection, options included for each look, price point, and the fact that everything is transferable. I have said it before, yes, but it makes it a must recommend shop for me when people ask me the "do you know where I can get...?" question. I get that question, a lot, and usually from total strangers, which is incredibly flattering. Bare Rose is overwhelming for most of us seasoned cam shoppers, I can only imagine what it must be like for new shoppers in-world. But it is worth a visit just to see the evolution of the brand over the years. I am always astounded. I had this look all ready to blog, about two weeks ago, but I am glad it fits in with the Bare Rose tribute. This is probably one of the first outfits I ever purchased at Bare Rose.

Look Of The Day [Nov.20/08] 3

The tutu style dress, gloves, and stockings are all part of the Exile set from Bare Rose, and I opted to wear the black option for the separate parts. I love the Goth looks the June makes, they are so detailed and well shaded, they make it easy to throw a look together without much thought since so much is included with each outfit. The gloves have the great ruffled cuffs, and the skirt attachment had a prim belt that is part of it, sidestepping attachment point issues perfectly. I added some cute accessories, starting with the *Red Ruin* Gothic Lolita Necklace, which looks great in combination with the system layer choker on the top part of the dress. The hat is from *~*Illusions*~*, a great basic Lady's Cabaret Top Hat, perfect for a doll-like look. I am wearing the Princess Ring from Paper Couture, a nice classic silver and enamel look ring. I wanted to wear a big chunky boot to compliment the Gothic look, and enhance the Lolita style, and went with these brilliant Goth Mutation Boots from Skanks R Us. Gotta love some big a**-kicking boots!

Look Of The Day [Nov.20/08] 2

I went with a Celestial Studios Charmed Line, Tone 00 Skin, this one is called Black Smoke and is perfect for Goth look. I love wearing a faded black ink tattoo with a pale white skin, and AITUI TATTOO offers my favorite, the full-body Butterflies tattoo, here I chose to wear Faded version. I love a glimmering colored eye with a pale skin, and the Petit Ange* Cleareyes in this Yellow Orange Colour are just so luminous and almost feline. The hair is an older, possibly retired style from Celestial Studios, but still one of my favorites. The Femme Hair in this Black Shiny shade is really great to wear with hats particularly. The spider-like Club 1 Lashes are also from Celestial Studios. When I need a Gothic look in a flash, the first place I look is in my Bare Rose folders, but there is so much more then Gothic inspired looks available now, you need to go explore it again and again.

Leather And Lace

Look Of The Day [Nov.13/08] 1

(PixelDolls) has been a long time favorite of mine, when they completely re-focused the shop, selling limited editions of the old stock off, I was anxious to see what new and exciting things would come out of Port Seraphin. The Anticipation outfit was one of my first purchases from the new releases, and is probably still my favorite. I consists of a cream lace blouse, a black wrap sweater, and leather slacks. There are endless layer possibilities, which I always love, so you can wear pieces separately, something every budget conscious shopper should look for. It also comes with a sweet necklace, which I opted not to wear, but it is perfectly lovely. (PixelDolls) continues to create some incredible work, and it is worth it to be in the Subscribe-O-Matic group, as almost every new release offers a free group gift as a sample of their fine work.

Look Of The Day [Nov.13/08] 3

I chose to go with one of the last things I purchased before my "Shopping Diet", these amazing ETD Kristin Booties in a lovely Natural bone colour. I thought that cream coloured shoe would add some interest and echo the colour of the blouse nicely. To be sure they 'popped', I slipped into some basic black tights from (CREAMSHOP). A Ruffled Handbag from Urid Dal is a nice classic compliment. A very special necklace from (Caroline's) adds some nice interest at the neckline, the length worked well with the v-neck sweater. (Caroline's) Special Cameo Locket in Gold is scripted so that you can place a precious picture texture inside it, making it really personal and special. A great chunky Diamond Encrusted Square Curt Amethyst Ring from Paper Couture also pics up on the heirloom feel of many elements in the look. I pulled on a Vintage Basic Bangle and Earrings from Luc Jewelry, formerly -EARTHTONES-.

Look Of The Day [Nov.13/08] 2

Hair is a stunning Burnt tipped White shade from ETD, the Roxie wig. I am really moving towards shorter styles a lot lately, they feel really fresh, and they have so much more style potential then a lot of long wigs. ETD does some of the best I have seen. Skin is Canimal Essence of Pinup, a real favorite, I love the lip shade. Eyes are from **[Riddle]**, and Love Lashes are from [Detour].
All together a nice put together look with little effort and lots of impact.

The Sweater Dress Song

Look Of The Day [November 7/08] 1

One of the gems I picked up at the :bijou: preview was this simple, understated, yet elegant Refrain Knitdress in Night shades. I was really surprised to find it among the ultra-hip newness at :bijou: all set for the opening of the bijouholic SIM on the 11th of this month. A classic body skimming dress, with really nice trim details, almost a pearlized crocodile edging on the neckline and hem. I must admit I didn't even notice that detail until I had it on, but it really is a nice touch. The dress comes in several colour variations, but I felt this grey scale version had the best. With the almost pink colour of the trim, it opened the door to do something I rarely do, mix browns and greys together. I added a simple system layer belt from *Thimbles*, to add a little interest at the waist. The Mr. Belt is really great to wear over long tops or dresses, as it comes on the jacket layer and worked well here as the :bijou: dress which comes with all layer options. Some nice basic hosiery from **Battered Boudoir** smooths the transition from hem to boot.

Look Of The Day [November 7/08] 2

Unlike my sister Anessa, the shoe queen of Phil's Place, I have to save my pennies to get the footwear I love. I had been meaning to head over to Maitreya for over a week to get closer look at the new releases, but after getting this dress, I really made a point of going, and this pair of SoHo Boots in Ice Suede were the perfect compliment, the billowy suede of the upper boot is a nice contrast to the sleek skirt. I headed over to check out Kess Kreations for the first time this week, after seeing her work at the Jewelry Expo, I wanted to see more. Kess is incredibly talented in so many types of media, but when I saw this Wooden Bead Jewelry Set i though it was really something. It is scripted so that the stone change colour, making it really versatile. I am wearing the necklace and earrings, but it also comes with a great matching bracelet. I really like natural looking jewelry, something organic in a pixelated place. A great basic black Boulevard handbag from a past Paper Couture collection, as well as my Gimcrack Diamond Ring from (Caroline's) round out the accessories.

Look Of The Day [November 7/08] 3

After seeing it on the feeds, I had to indulge in this Ruby wig from TRUTH. It is a really cute up do, with a colour scripted bow. TRUTH's recent makeover has me a little confused, and I was rather miffed that the colour packs have changed. I really loved that the black and white shades were put together, since I wear both colours almost exclusively. I still love the hair, and it is still a reasonably priced wig, but will likely buy a bit less of it now that it means having to buy two packs instead of one to get the shades I love. Another new-to-me skin that I nabbed during the Celestial Studios sale, the Charmed Line's Earth 3 make-up, just really pretty and classic. Lashes are from [Detour], and eyes from Karamia. So back into the closet I go to find out what else may be hiding in there, may the inventory g-ds be good to me.

Getting It Down On Paper

Look Of The Day [November 1/08] 1

I knew that once Paper Couture released a new collection, it would be all over the feeds in minutes, and I also knew I would be there to check it out withing hours of it's release. It's the way things seem to go on the feeds, everyone wants to show off the latest and greatest, and it's great to see the clothes on avatars, it gives us a much better idea of how they look then an image on a rack. I think the new collection is far more wearable then the last, and the jewelry is spectacular. As an avid collector of purses, I await their release, hopefully soon. Last collection, I snapped up a lot of the releases, and sadly they still sit in my inventory, unworn. This time I was really careful with my selections, as money grows tight and I am more realistic about what I can actually get around to wearing. I purchased one dress, one pantsuit, and about five pieces of jewelry. I wanted items I loved, but I wanted items I could work as separates too, and the Nightingale outfit was my first choice. I love this Silk Top, a long camisole that comes as part of the set. I think the hand painted ruffle down the front is great, so I opted to wear it apart from the rest of the outfit this time.

Look Of The Day [November 1/08] 3

I knew that wearing the Silk Top alone would look to bare for this time of year, so I went looking for a Bolero, and came up with this one from Ibizarre, part of the Soroya Jumpsuit set. A really nice texture on it, and the wrap look lends itself well to a brooch closure. This (Dahlinks) Classic Diamond Studded Bow Brooch in Silver is a lovely piece, really incredibly well made, and so very like ones in my mother's jewelry box. I think the brooch is one piece of jewelry we see little of in-world, and I love finding them, they are such a versatile accessory. I wanted to wear a classic pair of slacks, and these Blaze* Highwaist Jeans in Charcoal are a great option.

Look Of The Day [November 1/08] 2

I pulled on a favorite pair of suede Nichelle Pumps in Black from Lya, absolutely love the shape of these shoes. I also pulled in a nicely textured Black Velour Clutch from *Muism*. I went with silver and black earrings from *kraftika, the No. 127 Earrings in Silver. (Caroline's) Gimcrack Diamond Solitaire Ring is always a favorite stunner.

Hair is the new Yvette style from ETD, a nice casual up-do with exposed ears, so it works nicely with earrings. This is one of the new Mia skins from [RockBerry], I really love the full lips on these skins. Hazel Eyes are from Miriel, and Love Lashes are from [Detour].

One thing that makes Paper Couture really desirable is that they do retire styles, which is not usual in-world. Most people sell the same things year after year, season after season. It lends an air of urgency to shopping at Paper Couture, get it before it disappears. Instead of a bigger build to house all the designs from past seasons, they maintain a boutique feel, while still offering reasonably priced and imaginative high-concept collections. The clothes are like collectible pieces of art, season after season, and worth a look even if there is nothing that tickles your fancy.

Hi Top Hell Bop

Look Of The Day [October 10/08] 1

Forgive me blogger, and it's been 9 days since my last blog post. Yikes, I have more guilt than any one is entitled to, but I am glad to be getting back on track. The Retrology Trick or Treat Pumpkin Hunt has had me super busy, but that's no excuse. This look is another that pulls in two of my favorite colours to work together, pink and grey just work for me. It started with these great Hi Top Pants from Hell Bop Clothing by Floatie Hock, something I nabbed on my last trip around Retrology. I love high waited cigarette pants, and these are a great pair, with the great buttons in front and great textures waist panel. The Pink sweater is from Aleri Darkes, the Brita Top is great, and comes on the shirt layer so that you can wear it with your high-waited pants. I can't stress enough how great it is when designers offer their fashions on all available layers. Yes it takes a lot of time, but it makes me that much more likely to buy and wear it, and I am willing to pay a bit more for that luxury. I really like the texturing on the top, the deep v-neck, that is still modest and yet sexy.

Look Of The Day [October 10/08] 2

With simple system pieces in the look, I was able to pile on some great accessories, starting with some of my favorite shoes from Lya, the Nichelle Pumps in this lovely Pearl shade, a opalescent pink suede texture. The purse is one of the amazing bags from Bare Rose Tokyo, found in the Bare Rose Couture Boutique. They are insanely inexpensive, and come with a number of shape or style options, as well as holds in each box. This Freja Bag comes in this rounded shape, as well as a more square option, and I like the opalescent texture here as well. After my trip to the Jewelry Expo, I came away with armloads of goodies, including this great *kraftika No. 129 Necklace, strands of spaced out black pearls on a thin wire, amazing prim work here. I also bough this great Tahitian Pearl Ring from The Body Politik, with it's many scripted options, it is truly amazing, and a really lovely ring. I adore Tahitian Pearls in RL, it's great to have them in my virtual wardrobe too. I have had this great White Classic Tank Watch from ~Muse~ for some time, I always forget to wear my watches in-world, it might have something to do with that little clock up in the corner of the viewer. I pulled on a favorite bangle from *PERSONA*, the Crack Metal Large Bangle in Gold is a perfect example of the great work that Myllie Writer is doing on her Jewelry these days. With this great up-do, I was able to pull on some great Vintage Black Pearl Earrings from Paper Couture, part of a set.

Look Of The Day [October 10/08] 3

This lovely Sally Hair wig is from Panache ZF, and I am not certain I own very much of their hair, but I so want to now. I picked this one up at the Hair Fair, and love this Marshmallow shade. My all time favorite skin always feels like home to me somehow, the Celestial Studios Charmed Line is my favorite in general, but specifically this Earth 4 Make-up. Lashes are also from Celestial Studios, these big and romantic Classic 10 Lashes are favorites too. Delta Eyes in Hazel are from [Detour]. Ok, now that I have slapped my own hand for not blogging in so many days, I can get down to business, I have an awful lot of fall weather wear to show off in the next few days.

The Party Girl

Look Of The Day [September 14/08]1

Putting an outfit together is usually something that takes me quite a bit of time. Choosing the right shoes, accessories, hair, skin, lashes, it is an obsession, and takes the better part of half an hour when I can spare the time. But on the night of my shared Birthday Party with my sister Anessa, I literally went from a Pajama Party Event that ended at 9PM SLT, to the Birthday Bash Anessa had organized for 9PM SLT within 10 minutes. How does one go from a pair of PJs and Slippers to party ready in a flash? It's a little thing I like to call the party dress, and when I was looking for something with WOW factor and little effort, I dove into my inventory and found this amazing Auto De Fe Black Dress from Big Booty Big Money.

Look Of The Day [September 14/08] 2

I had wanted it for ages, and when Evelyn Edelman of BBBM was closing her shop on [ENVY], she had a huge sale and I finally snagged it. I really love the bow details on the hem, they look like a cross between butterflied and small knotted ribbons, they are really spectacular. The bodice of the dress is one of the most daring plunge v-necks I have ever worn, and frankly, there is no way I could wear something like this in RL, but it is really a creative masterpiece, the greys and blacks accented with a soft lilac shade. It pretty much screams "Party Dress".

Look Of The Day [September 14/08] 3

Next, think shoes, what one pair of shoes goes with almost everything? Well the Maitreya ChiChi Pump of course! When Onyx LeShelle released them, I could only afford two pair, so I opted for the white and the black versions. I wear them both, very often, and the scripted colour change rims make them customizable to match your look best. When Caroline Apollo debuted her recent releases, I headed out to Caroline's Jewelry to get a pile of new baubles for myself, courtesy of my man Draco's gift of shopping LaLas. I had purchased this great Broken Long Strand Black Pearls necklace in the shop, before wandering outside to take a look around and discovering that the Lucky Chair had a scripted version that you or anyone else can break apart with a click on the lower part of the long loop. Draco stood by as I waited for over an hour to see my letter come up, worth every second, as I adore scripted jewelry. Speaking of scripted, this set of ~*Fresh Baked Goods*~ Gem Jelly Donut Bangles are the perfect accessory when time is short, with one click you can make them match anything by setting the gem and bangle colours. I pulled on a great Princess Ring from Paper Couture when I got back to my studio to take these shots, also adding this cute Nerdy Birdy bag.

Look Of The Day [September 14/08] 4

I wore a different hair style to the party, for a more "me" look, but later put on this great Teagan style from ~Tickled Pink~, another Hair Fair find. I love a cute up-do, and this one is really sweet, I especially like the texturing on it, the transition from a darker black to a more smokey black colour on the tips. Parties call for party pretty make-up, so I went with this glittery eyed Silver 2 make-up from Celestial Studios Charmed Line. Also wearing Delta Eyes in Hazel from [Detour], and Bedroom Lashes from Cake. So I went from pajamas to party ready in about 10 minutes, a record time for me. It should be an Olympic Sport!
