It's Martini Time!

So here it is folks, my final Halloween costume for the year! I am wearing this tonight as I DJ at the PIN UPS "Big Halloween Bash" Event, it's going to be a hell of a party, lots of treats and a great big costume contest too. I love Friday night parties, it's 80s' night tonight! I wanted to go with a retro and pin-up style look, and when I spotted this adorable Ms. Dirty Martini at ~Digital Knickers~, I had to have it. It is seriously saucy, and reminds me of a World War II era Cocktail Waitress, with a little more sex appeal. The set comes complete with the hand held scripted martini glass, complete with lipstick stain on the rim. It utters some very cheeky phrases while you sip. The ice cube earrings and martini pendant necklace are also included. But the hat is the topper, it gives the costume that extra bit of polish, and the sweet olive accents are positively yummy. If you want to know why it is called "Ms. Dirty Martini", you need to check out the optional top of the dress, let's just say, someone ate the olives.



I wanted to wear some great seamed stocking with this costume, and dove into my inventory to find the perfect pair from Szentasha. These are part of the amazing ~J~ Bunny Girl costume, and are a seriously sexy seamed pair of fishnets, with the bonus of being tintable. The tray with Martini is also part of the Bunny Girl costume, and I decided to wear it with this look, as it doesn't talk as much and will be less chat spamming during my DJ set.



Can we talk shoes? I have had these sexy "Playful" Stilettos from Sylfie's Prim Seductions since February, 23rd of 2007. Back then, they were the height of Prim Footwear (Pun intended), but I still love wearing them, and they just worked perfectly with this costume. the lace detail and red trim could not be better suited, and even though they are not a sculpted shoe, they really hold up well for shoes almost two years in age. In-world, that is older then most everyone on my friends list. I am also wearing my (Caroline's) Gimcrack Diamond Solitaire Ring, just a little more "Ice" for my Martini.



I always go for my ETD Juliana Hair when going for a more retro sophisticated look, it is one of my most worn wigs, and that is saying a lot when I own over 400 styles. The skin had to be the perfect red-lipped beauty to match the lipstick stain on the Martini glass, and this Celestial Studios Charmed Skin in Red Diva is just the right shade of sexy red with lash heavy lids. Separates Lashes are from Cake, and Olive toned eyes are Miriel's Big Hazel Eyes. So as the Reverend Horton Heat song says, "It's Martini Time"! Happy Halloween! Green & Gold Dreams

I am just the sort of crazy that collects clothing whether I might ever wear it or not. One thing I can't resist is a great ballgown, and when I saw this elegant Serenity Gown at ~~Ivalde~~ I knew I needed it, even though I had no particular event in mind. When we celebrated one of the PIN UPS GIRLS Rez Day Parties at PIN UPS and it was a "Best in Green" Event, it was finally time to wear this elegant gown. It bodice is beaded with golden yellow and this lush fresh spring green colour falls nicely between too pastel and too bright. I love the flowing layers of what looks like organza, it moves brilliantly when dancing.



I decided to pick up on the yellow in the gown with this classic Kamoana Necklace & Earrings Set from -EARTHTONES-, which is so versatile it can be worn dressed up or easily take a trip to the beach. It is lovely, with organic pieces of shell in irregular shapes, and it seems to reflect light. I particularly love the delicate earring that lends itself well to the collar like necklace. I also pulled on some bracelets from -EARTTONES-, the Lushwood Cuffs have little inset gems that bring in both yellow and green accents. A sweet Yellow Clutch from Tres Blah is perfect for stashing a few LaLas for last minute shopping. My shoes were entirely hidden by the gown, but I wanted to show them off simply because they are such a perfect match, these Lime and Gold "Gotcha" Stilettos from Sylfie's Prim Seductions were one of the first pairs of prims shoes I ever purchased, and I couldn't resist taking them out for a spin once again. I had been waiting for the right time to wear this sleek up-do from The Abyss, and it seemed the perfect time to show off my Jewelry to full advantage. This Xia style is one of the closest to the head styles I have seen, really well conceived. I am wearing a skin from Esthetica Make-Up Arts, it was a gift in the Retrology Easter Hunt, but is available to purchase. Alexis Stapovic, of Flawed Perfect, is making some lovely skins now that won't break your bank, and she does some custom work too. Love Lashes are by [Detour], and Watery Eyes in Splatter from BBBM.

Going For The Gold

When an event rolls around that calls for a specific Colour, in this case "Yellow", I always start by doing a search on that colour... I type "Yellow" and let er' rip! So when this dress by "Heart Cupcakes" came up, I decided it would be perfect. More of a gold then a yellow, but that is just fine with me. I loved the crinkled look to the fabric, and I must say, that whenever I stop in to "Heart Cupcakes" I never walk out with less than 3 dresses. They just have the most adorable baby doll dresses in SL. Seeing the darker almost 'Ochre' colour in the folds of the skirt, I opted for these yummy "=CREAMSHOP=" Tights in 'Mustard', and I think the match really warms up the look.

I have this rule, that when there are details like a one-shoulder dress or collar, I don't like to muddle it up with a necklace, so I opted for these great bangles from "Bonita's", and I love the detailed textures in these bangles, and they come in like a zillion colour combinations so you can really find pieces that work well with your wardrobe. This hair from "Celestial Studios", called 'Whitney' is one of my favorite, I love a long style that has some volume yet is really sleek, and I love that you can change the colour of the headbands to match whatever you are wearing. Again, I think I found the perfect shoe in the "Sylfie's" that I have had for eons, yet they are non-scultpie, but I think they really work well in this look. I think that there is so much focus on sculptie shoes lately, that we forget that there are some really dynamic and creative non-sculpties out there to be had.

Sienna Dreams

Being in Subscribe-O-Matic groups can be great, it can also be a pain in the butt if the owners spam you daily for the most mundane details, but luckily, being part of the Diversity Hair and Digit Darkes Subscribe-O-Matic Group isn't like that. For instance, I got the call that one of Aleri Darkes newest Dresses was marked down to 75% off for a limited time, and being a girl who buys pretty much everything I wear, and eventually blog, I need to count my pennies...er...lindens. So off I went to see what dress was on sale. When I first saw this dress, the 'Inka Dress', I wasn't sure it was something I would have necessarily chosen for myself on any other day, it came in four awesome colours, but only one of the four was marked down, and it was this lovely 'Sienna Brown'. Now normally, I don't gravitate towards brown, and it would not have been my first choice perhaps, but for 100L I figured... what the Hay!

When a "Best in Brown" Event rolled around this week, I decided to finally un-box this baby and get a good look at it, and I must say, the ads in the shop did not do it justice.. it is WOW! I love the Feather details on the bodice, the amazingly well textured babydoll skirt prim, and the metallic details around the bodice are magnetic, the textures look like they are alive and moving! No necklace required with the dress detail, and hair up to show off some shoulders, all I needed was a Bangle on my wrist and this one from "Bonita's" seemed like a match made in heave to me. This time of year a girl needs to cover her gams, so these yummy chocolate brown tights from "CREAMSHOP" fit the bill. The very first prim shoes I discovered in SL where those by Sylfie Minogue of "Sylfie's Prim Seductions", yes I luckily escaped the blingy pink platform stage we all dread, and I have so many of her shoes in inventory is is almost a crime. In the days before the sculptie shoe, I really think Sylfie's were among the very best available, and so when looking for a shoe to match this look I was delighted to find this pair to look fresh and new and as delightfully Couture as the dress was, they really didn't look dated to me at all, and the shape is still a lovely prim stiletto. Something old, something new, something dreams are made of!
