Hair Fair - Big Win At The Fair

Pick a fair, any fair Skin, Hair, Shoe, and there are a lot of winners there. Certainly, we shoppers are huge winners, we get heaps of new and must have goodies all in one place. The content creators are winners, they get to show off their creations alongside the best of the best, and even the little fish in the pool can get a lot of exposure.  But beyond that, there are the charities that are tied in to most of these big events, and they win in two big ways. First, they get a lot of exposure for their cause, as Wigs for Kids has at the current Hair Fair 2014. Secondly, they get many small donations from the sale of items at the event, and all those small donations add up to something wonderful when all is said and done. Every single purchase you make at Hair Fair gives Wigs for Kids a small percentage of the cost to helping children who have experienced hair loss as a result of medical treatment, a health condition, or trauma, such as a burn. It's a lovely commentary on the power of the many when they come together to support something bigger than themselves. A new to me vendor like !Saltgrass!, who have this lovely Raleigh style available Exclusively at Hair Fair 2014, is the perfect example of a wig that turns a purchase from you into so much more.

I adore history, and historical fiction, and since I am a complete book worm and movie geek, I was thrilled to find that this month's theme for Genre is Baroque. I jumped at the chance to play out my pre-revolutionary France costumed dreams. With strong leanings towards everything gilded and over the top, the offerings at this Genre round are positively Marie Antoinette-esque on the decadence scale. Sometimes, taking separates parts and putting them together in a new way to make a whole can be a revelation. That's a lot of what medical research is about, like the research funded by FFL for the American Cancer Society. Taking knowledge of how different cells interact, looking at the abilities of viruses or hormones to affect cells or organs, and stealing the best ideas of mother nature, re-engineering them to work for us rather than against us. Cancer research in particular is all about taking bits of fascinating information and medical knowledge and using what is known to effect an unknown and possibly life saving reaction in the body. It's pretty miraculous when you think of it all.

Welcome to my dollhouse. Sometimes it is the silliest and most wonderful item that inspires a whole look, and I am the first to admit it.  When I spotted a post on the iheartsl.com feed that had these adorable dolls in it, I jotted down the address on a post-it and kept scrolling along. When I got the chance to check out the SLurl, I had already forgotten what it was for, and the minute I saw the Gacha machines in the ***Kawaii Mainstore*** I was enchanted. How could something so sweet be a real rendered 3D mesh doll? I gave the machine a play, and managed to snag a rare on the first pull, putting her into my arms and falling in love at first sight. These sweet little dolls pack a whopping 89 Prims/LI, but are the perfect cuddle when you need an escape from the everyday.

There are 10 in the collection, all sweetly named and different colors, with three rares that seem to have ombre tipped hair as the only real difference. I played away, and managed to snag all 10 like a crazy woman, with only 4 doubles, and I passed one of those on to my sister Anessa, who doesn't share my enthusiasm for super cute crap. She is an adult after all, me, I live for this stuff. At just 75L a play, this is one Gacha goodie that grabbed my heart and stole my money, but I am happier for the experience. The Gacha, it gotcha me!

The details on these dolls is epic. The have Neko style ears and tails, they have little bells around their necks, and wear a little earring in one furry ear.  The outfits have amazing details, like paneled dress flaps, scrunched up pantaloons, and little bow. Each doll carries her own little demon mask too. I may not understand the story behind them, but I made up my own. They are my little protectors, protecting my heart from bangs and bruises on rough days.

My whole look really evolved from wanting to match my dollies. The top was purchased at the same ***Kawaii Mainstore*** on Lafee Style SIM.  I wish I knew the origin of the image on it, and hope it is licensed for use by the creator, that is something I try to be very careful of. My trip to the Serafilms event, Moulin Rouge, allowed me to snag this super slim and sassy stripped miniskirt by *LACUNA*. Izzie's tights and Gacha great *Reign shoes round out the look. All the details can be found in the credits, but the dolls can only be found in-world.

Sometimes you just want to go out, you don't care where you go, you just have to be somewhere new with someone new. When you don't know where you are going, you need to dress for anything, and this look can work it.  A great fat-pack, yes 5 colours, of this blah.BLAH.blah Paisley Dress for just 100L, I am so on that, available now at the Designer Showcase. Getting out and shopping events is my new favorite way to find content, since I have no current landmarks, no idea what shops have come or gone in the past four years, an event that showcases the best or newest under one roof, from dozens of content creators, is the perfect way to dive back in the SLeconomy.

I love a great pair of tights, and now that there are multiple tattoo layers, wearing a semi-opaque tight means your precious ink can still be seen. *LACUNA* has some stunning hosiery, and it is Slink compatible, here on my feets. So yes, mesh feet, mesh shoes from fri.day, and tights that wear like they should, WIN WIN WIN!

Another great little bargain from The Arcade Gacha Event, going on now (unless you have been living under a sim, you know this). Noodles put a heap of sweetly coloured Meg Satchels into a machine and all of them are worth grabbing up.

Necklace combo is a lovely Hand of Fatima, or for me a Hamsah, from MG. Bangle sets are from Knock!, and can be found alongside my favorite tattoos from Letis Tattoo. I decided to update my facial piercings, and went with a wicked little set from ellabella. Now that I am all ready to go out, I await your TP with patient anticipation.
