Dear Antie Mae,

I know it's been a very long time, I have been away for almost four years.  You were my first major fashion love in Second Life, and I can still remember it like it was yesterday. Anessa, my sister, happened into your store almost 8 years ago now, and she sent me an excited message, "You have to see this place!"  I then took the teleport that changed my Second Life, and to a large part, my first life too. There, in your soda shop, we realized this was what our Second Life was supposed to be about. We both shared a love for Retro, Rock 'N Roll, and Vintage, and we wanted to open a classy little joint to celebrate all the really curvy girls and the fun of the past. We hatched our plan for a little club called PIN UPS that day, and you were our very first vendor. We were over the moon when you set up shop in our lobby, and we quickly bought everything you made. Well, that little club turned into a whole SIM, Retrology, and you were there with us too. We became friends, and we shared a love for so many things, but mostly, we respected your amazing talent and your kindness, your friendship and your sense of fun. I miss you Antie Mae, and SL would not be the same without you.

Roller Derby Doll

Sometimes a blog post is inspired from the bottom up, just like today's. While making my way through the aptly named Whore Couture Fair, I realized I must be a Whore, because I actually found quite a few great items. Most of the items are for the Lola/Tango/Phat/Azz crowd, so very little would work with my avatar, but the items I did find, great shoes and accessories, were well worth the time invested in seeing the whole fair.

These Classic Skates by NS::, which I believe are based on a purchased original full perms sculpt, are simply adorable. They have a sweet little HUD that lets you switch up the boot design/color, the laces, and the wheels in 5 different ways each. They include the skating animation too. All that for just $150L, you would be crazy not to grab a pair just for kicks!

The rest of the outfit seemed to just spring into being, with a definite Suicide Girl meets Roller Derby vibe.  Some tights and booty shorts layer up nicely, and I added a well worn /artilleri/ zee tank top, to pop a strap from under this 'off-the-shoulder' sweat-shirt by .:AVALE:.. 

The ultimate in accessories include great multi-option bangle sets from Maxi Gossamer, always a go-to for a host of eclectic jewelry styles. The necklace was another great find at the Whore Couture Fair. The Pornstar Aviators are a deliciously cheeky pair of sunglasses that have a HUD to change the image printed on the lenses, so wickedly cute.  I felt very cheeky indeed, and headed over to the SL Roller Derby Arena to chat up one of the Suicide Girl team members, who invited me to see a practice next week. I can't wait!

Oh Happy Day!

Sometimes, the stars align and things just click. We often are only aware of the meaning things hold in our lives when we suddenly find ourselves without them. It may be a person, a place, a treasured item, or a simple belief that gets taken from us, and it can be devastating. When I heard that Neferia Abel was closing down all her ~~Ivalde~~ and -L'Abel- shops, including her SIM, while she recuperated from illness, moved house, and was without internet connection for at least a month, I suddenly realized how complacent we can get. How we can take things for granted, and how we assume those iconic content creators will always be there for us in SL. Fellow blogger Achariya echoed these sentiments in her post today. Nef is more then fashion designer to me, she is a dear friend, so this was a very emotional realization. But with a very large amount of luck, timing, and help from friends all over SL, we managed to get Nef to leave a shop open on Retrology during her absence, and I could not be more thrilled. You can read more about the story of how it came to be on the Retrology Blog. Neferia, being who she is, could not go without leaving a special gift for her beloved customers, and this Lime Sigrid Dress from her -L'Abel- line is that gift, available to everyone in the new store on the table in the lounge area.



The -L'Abel- Sigrid dress is a stunningly feminine floral treat, the sculpted fluttery capped sleeves are delicious, and it can be worn in short or long versions. I wanted a relaxed look, and pulled in my amazing new Rock Candy Watch from (Caroline's), available right across from the new ~~Ivalde~~ location on Retrology. On the other wrist, another treat from a Retrology vendor, the ~*Fresh Baked Goods~ Gem Jelly Donut Bangle in Silver, colour script changed to match the dress. The Yellow Rose Hair Flower is created by an equally dear friend and Retrology veteran, /artilleri/'s Antonia Marat. The perfect girly shoes to match this lovely look are from (Shiny Things), the amazing Belles, here in the Acid colour.



The lovely long messy hair is from Mirai Style, the wig is called .+*Nacy*+., and I think it is very sexy. This skin was a gift from my sister Anessa, very different from my usual look, the *REDGRAVE* Emma 2 Tan Skin in Smoky1 is definitely a big change for me, but I do like it, particularly the full glossy lips. These eyes are new to me from Miriel, picked up on my last trip over before she closes shop, they are her Standard Eyes in Sunlit Tree, a stunning yellow green hazel eye. Bedroom Lashes are from Cake.

Today, I am happy beyond words, and am looking forward to Monday, June 8th/09, when the Blogger Challenge for ~~Ivalde~~/-L'Abel- starts. My Way Out

Sometimes, you just want to get away. Things get confusing, you lose sight of who and what you are about and what really matters. I have been feeling this way a lot lately. Things I thought would last forever have slipped away, things I thought mattered don't seem to be as important, and I am looking for meaning in my life again. While I may not be able to take a physical break from my reality, I can certainly take the time away from my regular routine and let my mind run away a bit, trying to find the answers to the questions that I suddenly have. This look is back to basics, the sort of thing I would be wearing around the city. This look says comfort and warmth, and is something I would wear when looking for a place to hide and nurse my wounds. This sweater is my favorite part, I think Pushbutton's new *Sprawl* brand is brilliant, and The Almanac Sweater in Cardinal looks like a well loved, well worn favorite. I layered it over one of the /artilleri/ Zee Tank Tops, and paired that with a great Black denim Jean from (Kari & TW).



With cuffs on the sweater, there was no need for bracelets, but I did find a nicely matched Bohemian inspired necklace from Bonita's Jewelry that really worked well with this look. The colours were perfect, and I find that there are lots of hidden treasures at Bonita Popinjay's Jewelry, you just have to have the fortitude to find them among her huge inventory of items in her shops. I am wearing my favorite brow piercing from ITF, and also a sentimental ring from Caroline's Jewelry. One of my favorite handbag's is this Jaden bag from Cachet (now LeLutka), I own it in two colour variations, it is that fabulous. I am wearing the boot bases from a brilliant pair of (Shiny Things) Old Lace-up Boots, they are prim shoes I have had for almost two years, and they make me feel very grounded.



Truth Hawks makes some of the sweetest wigs on the grid, and on my last visit I was over the moon to find my two favorite shades, black and white in the same colour pack once again. This sweet TRUTH double pig-tail style with hat is called Babyhoney, and it is perfection down to the stitching on the cap. The skin is another of Ana Lutetia's mods, the lovely -AnaLu- *InRainbows* series, and I feel very at home in these skins, the complexion is lovely and the brows are natural and soft, the coloured eye make-up is perfect with the soft full lips. Lashes are from MMS, now LeLutka, and eyes are from Miriel.

I am looking for my way, even if that means My Way Out.

Good Mother

Though she really doesn't understand my online interests or the way I live my life, I can honestly say that I have a Good Mother, not just good, great. She has always been there for me, been genuinely proud of my accomplishments, and believes that I have something to offer the world. She is generous, she is a beautiful grandparent to my nieces and nephew, and she makes me want to be a better person. This look really wouldn't be one my mother would understand, but I love bright colours and quirky details, so I decided to blog it today, because being who I am is part of the gifts my mother gave me growing up. When Canimal Zephyr sent me the adorable Circus Treats dress, I was thrilled, they are striped fun, with two bright colours in combination. I chose the orange and yellow version for this look, pairing it with a pair of simple Yellow opaque tights from ~~Ivalde~~.



With a tiny mini-dress, there is lots of room to accessorize, and I started with these amazing Death Dolly Goth Mary Jane Pumps from Unique Needs. I carried the studded black leather look to a simple arm band from WRONG on one wrist, while piling on some stacked Orange bangles from *PERSONA* on the right wrist. The fabulous Butterfly Necklace from *i-Candy* is everything fresh and Spring and hopeful, a sweet touch on an otherwise dramatic goth princess look. Simple Stud Earrings from Sian Birke are great as a wardrobe staple, since the stones are color change. Though I rarely wear them, I love tattoos, and these faded half sleeves from AITUI Tattoo are really fabulous looking.



This adorable wig is from /artilleri/, and Antonia Marat makes some of my favorite hair, the Dayna is simply sweet with a touch of edge, just the way I like it. When I go for an edgier look, the skins I choose are always my Canimal Essence Skins, this one is perfect for this look, and perfectly named "Sunshine". The Canimal Essence Flamenco Trash Lashes, here in Red, are the perfect compliment to the skin. My eyes are, as always, favorites from Miriel.

Happy Mother's Day to those of you celebrating today. You are the world to your children, and you are the heart and soul of society. The song on my mind today is a favorite, Good Mother by Jann Arden, a fellow Canadian.

Boppin' High School Baby

Since my blog-mate Nikkita has being working overtime, and doing me proud, I figured it was high time I hopped back in and did a long overdue post. This look is all about the Rockabilly, right down to the title of the post, a song by Don Willis, a Rockabilly icon. I have been all wrapped up in the Rockabilly for ever-so-long, pretty much since my earliest days in-world, and it is still my most comfortable look. This one came together effortlessly, particularly when I opened my gift from Antonia Marat when she recently added a Subscribe-o-matic to /artilleri/. This great Marion Cardigan sweater was part of that gift, and it is so dang cool. I pair it up with a perfect Black Pencil Skirt from Ingenue.



I went to town with the accessories here, starting from the top down with a gorgeous sculpted Rose Hair Flower from /artilleri/, and also Antie's fantastic scripted color change Bead Hoop Earrings. The necklace is a simple favorite go-to piece from Decollage, the Bubblegum Pearl Necklace which is hand tintable, therefore endlessly useful. I went with some great bangles, starting with a Black & White Checkered Messy Bangles stack from [Woo's] on the left wrist, and a Gem Jelly Donut Bangle in Silver from ~*Fresh Baked Goods*~ on the right wrist, colour changed by script to match my look. Also wearing my Caroline's Jewelry Gimcrack Diamond Solitaire Ring. The final touch, are the J's Real Toe Ankle Belt Sandals in Black. Whether you are a fan of the real toe look or not, they really work for a Rockabilly vixen look.



Any Rockabilly chick would be proud to show off her tats, and I love mine. The upper body Maggie Tattoo is from /artilleri/, while the sexy leg tat is called Damage from AITUI TATTOO. My favorite big wig when going Rockabilly is [Aden]'s Amy in Black, it is Amy Winehouse beehive fabulousness and so much fun to wear. The skin is my favorite Canimal Essence Skin, this is the Pinup make-up, and I love the arched eye-brows that have a penciled in look. Thora Lashes are from MMS, but may be available at LeLutka now, eyes are from Freak Fantasia.

Born To Be Wild

When things get a little "Wild" at PIN UPS, and it is time to bring out the animal prints, I can never seem to find what I am looking for. I know I own a lot of animal print clothing, but it is rarely named as such. To save time, I simply searched for "Zebra" and up came this /artilleri/ Zesty Zebra Dress, a gift from the amazingly generous Antonia Marat during her Christmas daily group gift event. I threw it on in a hurry, and was instantly smitten, there is little that I don't love from Antie. As it is still freezing up here in Canadia, I wanted a little more coverage, and searched for a jacket layer shrug to bundle up in, I was thrilled to find a match in this Stich by Stitch Magic Little Teal Shrug, which had exactly the right retro flavor for this look. Stitch by Stitch has some really unique and adorable items, and they have a real hand crafted look to them which I find particularly appealing.



I decided to go with a basic black retro-inspired shoe from Maitreya, the adorable Sassy shoe, which has the feel of an stacked sandal with a cute peep toe. The accessories are in a bright contrasting cherry red, starting with favorite /artilleri/ bead hoop earrings that are scripted to colour change with a click menu, and a Decollage Bubblegum Pearl Necklace, that can be hand tinted to any colour. I also threw on a WRONG Beads and Bangles bracelet, a little attitude goes a long way. I also am wearing a basic dual ball brow piercing from ITF. The Clutch Bag is another great find, from Bare@Rose Haute Couture's Lucky Chair, it comes in a variety of colours, I managed to snag this great golden Yellow one. It has a great vintage look to it, and reminds me of some of the treasures I used to find in my grandmother's closet.



The hair is /artilleri/ as well, the Sarah Jane style in Black, a really adorable vintage and rockabilly wig. Antoher wonderful -AnaLu- Skin from her *In Rainbows* mods, I simply adore the smooth soft glow of these skins, and the colourful make-up is right up my alley too. This is the NAT 10 .greenish. version, I haven't stopped wearing these skins since Ana Lutetia sent them my way, they are fantastic. Eyes are from Miriel and lashes are from the former MMS.

Meat The Pin-up

Had a blast tonight at the PIN UPS "Eat Me!" Event, an edible costume contest. I was stumped as to what delicious designer duds to wear, when Apathia Hammerer, designer of Pig, reminded me she had sent me over copies of her Hamkini and Bacon Wrap suit. I had forgotten her sending them, and had a good giggle at the time, so I tried on the Hamkini and it was an instant yes, in the way that only meat garments can be. I felt a little exposed in nothing but ham steaks, and felt it was a little close to my skin-tone to look entirely wholesome, so I threw the Bacon Wrap suit on underneath the Hamkini, and viola, we have the vintage meat pin-up look of my dreams! It's a lot shocking, and someone commented that it looked like I was wearing my insides on the outside, but I thought it was entirely hilarious, and the absolute height of edible fashion. Never has an ensemble so far from kosher looked so delish!

I Am The Best Smelling Woman In SL®!

I get a lot of review copies dropped on me, and lately, since all my messages have been getting capped, I sometimes don't know for sure who has sent me something. I am not always certain what is a review item, and what is a gift from a friend. When I saw the title of this item in my "Objects" folder, I was simply too curious to let it go, Belice No. 5 it was labled, I rezzed it on the living room floor to have a look.



I have heard about perfume in Second Life®, and I must say, it always has struck me as beyond silly. I think about pixelated food in a similar way, but we eat with our eyes and other senses, not merely taste, so I can suspend reality long enough to toast in the New Year with a flute of bubbly champers. A decorative item also holds value in SL®, from the art we put on our walls, to the knickknacks we line our virtual bookshelves with. I can see a pretty prim make-up case or perfume decanter, I understand the appeal of beautiful things in our living space. But a perfume in a place where the sense of smell is not required and frankly sometimes a blessing (who hasn't worn the same outfit for a week or more), it just doesn't make much sense to me (pun intended).



So here I am, with this review copy of a virtual scent, and it has me giggling and scratching my head, and cracking jokes, but I figured I really should try it before I get to far ahead of myself. I mean, maybe it's really tongue in cheek, maybe we are meant to be in on the joke, maybe it is precisely the thing I have been looking for all of my Second Life®. So there in the folder is the wearable version of Belice No. 5, and I Right-click and wear it, as well as the HUD attachment. The HUD removes my AO, but who needs to walk sexy when you smell great! Immediately I am surrounded by a poof of little flowers, and there on my HUD, a sleek purple bottle.



A little script chat pops up on the screen, telling me that I am "Now spraying every 45 seconds". That seems rather often to me, but as I don't wear perfume in RL, I may just be out of the loop. A click on the HUD brings up the dialog box with lots of lovely options. Target: interesting enough, I can "emote" perfume at a selected avatar, that will be very handy in a crowd. Scale: This has something to do with the HUD, so I ignore it as usual. Graphics: The ability to turn the poofer spray on or off, well, why would I want to turn it off? Emotes: The ability to turn the text emotes on or off. Why would you want to turn off something that tells people how great you smell? Private: You can turn all the emotes to private IM, so as not to alert others to how great you smell, seems to defy the point, but a nice option all the same.



I decide to wear it as packaged, and not fiddle with the settings. I am immediately aware of the green object chat emanating from my person. The first thing it tells me? BeliceNo5_wearable whispers: ><><>< An air of seductiveness surrounds Jhuzen ><><><. Well what do you know, I do have an air of seductiveness surrounding me! It made for a cute little exchange, but really, I don't think I am hooked on virtual "scent". The box is cute for display, it rings in at a lovely 14 prims, the bottle is 7 prims on it's own. So if you want a great little conversation piece for your dresser ladies, I can say it is a lovely little item of frivolity. It is a novelty piece, and it is pretty hysterical, for about 10 minutes really. It amuses the same way heel clicks did when they were first introduced to SL®, some people love them still, most people treated them as a fad and moved on to the next. The literature included with the set is also humorous, and seems to be very serious in tone, but I think that is to be expected when one makes an investment of this scale. Yes, Belice No. 5 is an investment. Available in-world HERE or on XStreet SL for a purse-stretching $1500 Linden® Dollars, it is definitely not an impulse buy or gag item, but would be perfect for the person that is impossible to shop for because they already have everything.

Would I buy this item myself, I think you can safely bet not, but it is just not my thing really. I think it would be an interesting experiment to wear it out in public, see how many times you might get muted or asked to leave nightclubs, or what kind of comment you can net from innocent bystanders. But it was good for a laugh, and isn't that the whole point of Second Life®? I think the developer and designer of Belice No. 5 would agree, and I did contact Omm Dufaux before blogging this item, to be sure it was sent as a review copy by him. It was indeed, and I did let him know I planned to blog it in a cheeky manner. I do admire the creativity, the scripting, the design of the physical box and bottle, and the interest in feedback in the form of reviews. That says something about Omm, and I can respect someone that has an idea and follows it through to completion. If I listen to my bottle of Belice No. 5, I am the best smelling woman in all of Second Life®. I dare you to prove otherwise!

Vain Inc. Magazine - Issue 18 Now Available!

I feel for those who were using there Open Sim under the, albeit vague, terms set forth by Phil's place, and am worried we are about to lose a lot of beautiful places, quiet retreats, and art spaces for yet more overcrowded ugly places in-world. Time will tell, but it seems wrong to punish the many for the crimes of a few, if in-fact there were those who were abusing the "Light" use terms.



This look started with this jacket I picked up at Trix' or Treats during the recent Grid Wide Ghost Busters Hunt, it wasn't the free gift, but when I saw it I had to have it. The Yellow Retro Hoodie with optional Black Shirt beneath it is bold and bright and really makes me happy. I paired it up with a great pair of Soft Black Leather Pants from IBIZARRE, a place I discovered for the first time this week, and love the soft sheen of them, really a great pair of classic pants. I love my EnvYou Strapped Chucks, own them in every colour, but this may be the first time I have worn the Yellow. Love this Caution Tape Belt from [THE SYNDICATE], it's got great visual impact. One of the first purses I ever purchased is this adorable 8 Ball Bag from /artilleri/.



When Canimal Zephyr passed me this adorable Deadly Lullaby Necklace, I was thrilled. Not only is is super cute, but it also has amazing scripting and you can customize the details, like bows and pendant colours, to make it work so many ways. I pulled on a cute bracelet from ::MEZZO::, they have great inexpensive sweet jewelry. I love these great ~MAGIKA~ Lightening Earrings, which are multi set, and with a little linked part editing are a great look. Also wearing my Caroline's Jewelry Gimcrack Diamond Solitaire Ring.

Another great Hair Fair find is this Mia Koda wig from Hair Solutions. I really am enjoying re-discovering what I purchased during that lag infested spending spree, particularly from the shops I bought from and learned of for the first time. A favorite Celestial Studios skin, great eyes from **[Riddle]**, and lashes from Cake complete the essentials. I am sad watching the Open Space Sim issue hurt so many, I hope those at the "Licken Labs" get a clue before it's too late.

A Touch Of Sunday Denim

When hopping about the grid this chilly October weekend, be it hunting or shopping, or both, you need to have a look that is casual and comfortable, and ready for action. This fabulous Vintage Leather Jacket from ::DUTCH TOUCH:: had been in my inventory forever, and I love the weathered rust colour of it, great for layering over a cozy thermal, this one from Tres Blah. The Vintage Floral Thermal in Plum is one of a fatpack of lovely shades I picked up at the Starlust Motel during the recent wee fundraiser for Crystyle Bukowski. I love the button details on the neckline, and the cute floral print. All the colours are equally delicious. This relaxed pair of New School Jeans from the Kari and TorridWear collaboration are really wonderful. I love the hand-drawn elements, and the pack is reasonably priced, coming with both Black and the Blue version shown here. The set is Unisex as well, so everyone can partake.



I really had fun with these accessories, starting with this great *Sprawl* Library Necklace. This is the Alice in Wonderland Version, with a tiny book that opens with a click. There are several version, but I couldn't say no to Alice. I rarely remember to wear glasses, and this pair of Onyxia Sunglasses from /artilleri/ are really classic. I always buy eye wear from /artilleri/ in fatpack, the colours are exceptional and the prices too good to pass up. Dark Mouse is one of the newest vendors on Retrology, and when I stopped in to take a peek after Mouse Mimstrobel set up shop, I couldn't resist this nifty Gold Paint Splashed Bangles & Earring Set. I think the earring is a delicate masterpiece, I really love the shape of it, and the bangle is nice and chunky, with fabulous textures. I pulled in a must-have Hobo Bag in Denim from Celestial Studios, as well as some complimentary Natasha Violet Boots from INSOLENCE to go with the Plum colour in the top I am wearing.



Another fabulously cute short wig, this one is from [Curio], with the adorable name of Hipster. I love the texture on the White shade of [Curio] hair, and it is almost always a lower prim choice, simple and elegant are trademarks of the brand. Skin is Celestial Studios, from the Charmed Line, and Green Eyes are from Ibizarre, a steal with four shade variation for just $40 LaLas. So I have officially found a new addiction, like I needed one, and the Devil's name is Plurk. In case you are as out of the loop as I was about what it is, think of it as a giant IM conference with dozens of friends happening live, and everyone can see everyone else's conversations. It is instant gratification, there is always someone on, and you can share URLs, Video, Photos, and anything from RL updates to pet peeves to gossip. Oh, and did I mention you get "Karma" points for being especially addicted. Oh yes! If you want to check it out, you can find my little Plurk profile link at the side panel of my blog, but I would caution most that it is really addictive and may not be for everyone. In any case, one needs to be comfy while sitting about Plurking all day. I think the new collaborative releases from Celestial Studios, Kari, and TorridWear are absolutely remarkable in quality, options, and details, and this Pink New School Jacket is a great example of why. It is a unisex top, comes in a pile of great colours to choose from, and the pack includes collar size options, layer options, including a T-shirt or Tank Top under layer that can be all on one Jacket or separate, and is modifiable, so of course I had to tint! I can see this one jacket going the distance in my wardrobe. I paired it with a favorite pair of Betsy Pants in Dark Blue from /artilleri/, simple, sweet, and inexpensive. I anxiously await new releases from Antie!



Can you say Cute Shoes? I love some cute casual flats, and these Kushi Shoes from *i-Candy* are so sweet. They come with bow and bow-less versions. All I know is that Khushi is the word for happiness in Hindi, and these shoes make me happy indeed! The Fuck You Bag is one I have had for ages, and it always make me laugh. Red Ruin was an early favorite for me when I joined up almost two years ago, and I still find some of their items to be favorites in my inventory. The moment I spotted this Happy Bead Set in Rainbow from Studio Sidhe, I had to have it. I am thankful for Miriel Enfield's Jewelry Expo for introducing me to so many great content creators I was oblivious to. These beads are brilliant, they look like real Murano hand-blown glass, they are luminous and the texturing is fabulous. I love the sunburst charm on the necklace, the simple complimentary hoop earrings, and a great matching bracelet. I have to say, a set where things are not all matchy matchy, but rather a thoughtful collection of workable items is a real treat.



I have been wearing this great Lolli Hair wig from *Katat0nik* for weeks, but was waiting to blog it until the furor, very well deserved mind you, had died down a bit. It is fabulous and fun, I love the bangs, and the scripting options for Hair and Bow colour are a fabulous bonus. Another great Canimal Skin, can't wait for new make-ups on these Essence Skins, I want to devour them, they are so delicious! Gorgeous Brown Eyes are from ** [Riddle] **, and Love Lashes are from [Detour]. So now I will go check the 59 new unread messages in Plurk that have popped up since I started this post. Pray for me!

Draco loves it when I wear glasses in-world, I have no idea why, I don't wear them in RL at all. I have a hunch it might be something to do with a secretary or librarian look, but I can't be sure. I always forget to wear them and it's usually because I am so stuck on lashes, which usually have the same attachment point. I own pretty much every fat-pack of glasses from Antonia Marat's /artilleri/, by far my favorites for style, colour selection, and price point. The Paula Glasses, here in Black, are really retro-chic, and look almost identical to a pair my grandmother wore when I was a little girl. Diving into my new hair folder, I came across this -Hiccup- wig. When I bought it, I never looked at the name, but noticing it looked very much like a certain Vice Presidential Candidate's style, I was laughing hysterically when I realized it was called Foreign Policy = Hockey Fights. Skin is Celestial Studios Charmed in Rubies, I adore the lip colour on this skin, and Glassy Mustard Green Eyes are from Freak Fantasia.



I was working on one of my Postcards From Retrology shoots yesterday, and decided to do one from "Savvy?", still forthcoming. But I have always had my eye on this Dear Stephanie outfit. It is really classic, includes the blouse, waistcoat, knee length pant and stockings. I decided to pair it with these fabulous boots from Jaywalk that Lyra Muse sent me months back in a fat-pack. The Kit boot is really neat, and comes in some great colours, each with two buckle colour options. I went with the Grey Boot with Black Buckles here, they matched the outfit perfectly.



I wear this Decollage Bubblegum Pearls necklace so often, it is tintable, and I love the size of the beads, really fun and chunky. The Pearl Bauble Flower Ring was another Jewelry Expo find from (Caroline's), and it comes in a set with this Black version as well as two other tones. I love the size of it, and it works really well paired with the Decollage necklace. I asked Draco if I looked sexy int his outfit, he said "absolutely", I then asked if I looked like Sarah Palin, to which he responded, "she is not sexy". I love my man!

Watching The Detectives

Another new viewer, another batch of issues, in this case getting used to having freedom from camera constraints and therefore a whole lot of fiddling to get sizing right. Ah well, what are we if not pawns in the game of LL. In any case, it is that time of year again, October brings us Octoberville 2008, one of my favorite activities ever. If you are looking for some really great Halloween fun, without collecting a pile of orange and black everything, and something you can do with groups of friends at once, check it out. It always makes me gear up for fall, you can't get your Detective on to hunt for the clues to a murder in a T-Shirt, so I started with a great coat I have been saving up since last year, the Penny Plaid from *fuse in this smokey Purple Rain colour. I grabbed the first pair of pants in my **NEW** folder, and it happened to be this great scrunched cuff pair of Monocrom Pants in Black from Sweetest Good-bye. Being out in the fall weather calls for layering, so I played around by adding this fabulous Aubergine Knitted Vest from Twosome, which is spectacular on it's own, and with so many layer options, gave me the opportunity to wear it tucked in. A basic Zee Tank Top! from /artilleri/ in White the I tinted to an olive green is a nice muted colour addition.



I wanted to pull on some gloves, since I may be handling evidence in Octoberville, so I opted for these delicious Davenport Weathered Velvet Gloves in Plum from Argyle. Some great black leather boots from Jaywalk get me ready to roam the town. I opted for the foot bases here in the Liah Onyx pair. Every detective needs a bag to hold all her sleuth gear, and this Fleur Heiress Handbag should do the trick. A *Muism* Crinkle Scarf keeps my throat warm in case I need to call for back-up in the form of my partner in crime-solving Draco, actually it's more like scream, there are some mighty creepy thing going on in Octoberville. At the Jewelry Expo, I picked up this great pair of No. 127 Earrings from *karftika, I am always stunned by great prim-twisting, and these earrings are really classic.



A good detective needs a Fedora, and I adore this Fedorable Loveless Hair/Hat combination from *Torrid Wear* that I discovered at the Hair Fair. The side knotted ponytail is a nice touch with scarves, collars and necklaces, lets them be seen without hair poking through the prims. I love the vibrant yet subtle purple shadow on this Canimal Essence Skin, this is the Ether Skin in the Grace tone. Separated Lashes are from Cake, and Freak Fantasia is the place for these great Glassy Mustard Green Eyes, a must for searching out the clues. Maybe I will see you on the trail of the murderer at Octoberville.

Seeking Refuge

It seems that the season of hats is upon us. Most of my posts this week have included great hats, which is perfectly fine with me, as the fall season is so much more my speed. This great wig/hat combination from Refuge is another winner I picked up at the Hair Fair. Refuge hair is another new discovery for me. What can I say, this Alex hair is cute, the hat is really funky, adorned with cool buttons, and better yet it's texture/colour change so that you can make it match your look with one click. Hair like this basically dictates the kind of look you want to wear with it, in this case a little bit of sweetened grunge. Whenever I am working a look with a bit of street cred, I gravitate towards my Canimal skins. This is the Essence of Ether skin with some awesome purple smokey shadow is a great start, and I paired it with a dramatic pair of Flamenco Trash Lashes in Purple, also from Canimal. A great pairing, these lashes in particular are really great, I have them in several colours and they are the fastest way to change the look of a skin. Eyes are my first real set, purchased about twenty months ago and still favorites. The Freak Fantasia Glassy Mustard Green Eyes have a lovely watery gloss shine to them.



I love pairing pink and grey, and with a camoflage event at PIN UPS, I was going with greyscale camouflage, so set the hat colour to pink. I have had these /artilleri/ Camo Girlie pants for eons, I like the baggy look and the length of them. I pulled on a Gray Camo Bra from ETD Clothes, part of a set, and though not a perfect match, close enough. I also brought in a great Charcoal Cowl Sweater from Little Rebel. I love this sweater when layering, it is sexy with the deep cowl, and works easily with a bra or camisole under it. The sweater can be worn with a more casual look, like this one, but also can be worn with a great pair of dressy slacks for a more classy look. Clothes that can do double duty are so much more fun and a real value asset in a wardrobe.



These great MK Fashion Super Sneaks Platform Hi-Hi Tops, are long time favorites. The are big and chunky, and are scripted to colour change.
Whenever I wear them, people ask for the landmark, they are just a great option and work really well with capris or short skirts. Using them to echo the pink in the hat here is a really fun option. The White Stripey Skull Bag from WRONG adds a little more interest, it comes in a bunch of colours, and is really an inexpensive indulgence. I can never have enough bags. I pulled on the must-have /artilleri/ Pyramid Studs Belt, still my favorite belt of all time, I wear it endlessly for it's grunge and rockabilly appeal. Some simple Black Jelly Bracelets from [Od] work well here, and overall stay with the casual mood on this look. Now I am off, to seek out refuge, to see what else they have to offer, I am entirely intrigued.
