A Little Fan GurL Time

There are a lot of things that I adore in Second Life. I am a huge fan of accessories in particular. I love bracelets all the way up my arms, I love bags, and heck, do I ever love my shoes. ISON by Harry Hyx is another total winner winner chicken dinner creator in my book. This newest ISON Summer Striped Net Bag is an example of a genius creation. It has specially crafted handles that fit perfectly in my Slink Avatar Enhancement Hands, the bag is also slightly curved away from the leg, so it photographs and wears beautifully without cutting into my Avatar. It also has those little details that make it superbly well crafted, textured stitches and details, sheer panels, and best of all, heaps of practical goodies inside the bag for the most realistic look. Getting back to bangles, my personal favorite must-have jewelry item in Second Life, there is no one like Zaara Kohime to make my arms jingle jangle jingle with joy. Back when Summerfest 2014 was all the rage, I snapped up these absolutely luxe Indra Bangle Stacks from {Zaara Couture}. There is so much detail, so much color, and both gold and silver versions in the set, I couldn't live without them. I treasure all my Zaara jewelry, and have been collecting it for almost 7 years. Just try to pry it out of my pretty little mesh hands, I dare you. OK, Fan GurL session over for today, I need to go fan myself off, I am feeling hawt!

The Artist At Work

I have been an artsy person for as long back as I can remember, and the minute I spied the / XIAJ / Sunday Morning Artist Studio set at this past The Season's Story - Summer Event, I had to have it all. Always a visual thinker and dreamer, as soon as I could hold a crayon I was drawing on everything. My mother saved some of my early art, and it seems I was always drawing people. Not real people, people from my imagination. All through my school years, the class that kept me motivated was Art Class. Formal or not, and I have many teachers who can attest to the fact that often I was caught doodling in other classes too. Friends would always asks for doodles and caricatures of themselves, and I was happy to oblige, even in Math or Social Studies.

I was once thrown out of my High-School art class for screaming at a teacher, true story. He was a pretentious ass who wore a toupee and often would just pick up a pencil or a paint brush and alter a students work in progress as they sat there and let him. I was incensed, to me art and creation is sacred, how dare he just assume that he could 'perfect' their classwork by doing it for them. Needless to say I was all full of righteous indignation as I stood in the hallway waiting for the class to end. I still get a little riled up at the thought.  

I continue to 'Art' to this day, I have an office full of paints, brushes, scraps of fabric, wood, a sewing machine, heaps of tiny cute odds and ends, beads, and just about every kind of pencil and marker an artist could ever want. But it takes inspiration now for me to push through and create. I need to be in a certain mood, and when I am, I can be up for days and night on end, just puttering around and creating things. My nieces and nephew have all gained heaps of new 'Stuffed' friends from my sewing work, they clamor for them, and want to give them to their friends too. I can't say no. My Etsy store dreams may never happen, but it is about the process after all.

How I Live Now

I am feeling rather lost lately, not in the sense of not knowing where I am, but rather in not knowing where I am going. I feel disconnected and isolated so much of the time, and find myself withdrawing farther from others all the time. It isn't what I ever planned for myself, not where I saw my life going, but it is what it is.  I know things can get better, I know they might, but not without effort.  When I am in Second Life I can pretend to be someone else, I can dress up like I have somewhere to go, but most of the time even I know it is an act. My true self is hidden behind costumes and cutesy looks that I would never pull off anywhere else. This look is different, it somehow echoes deeper in my heart and soul. It resonates with who I have been and who I am still. This is how I live now.

Moving Day

I am getting my move on in Second Life, moving from a lofty Sky Box to a sweet little place on the ground.  I picked up The Karin Cottage by Trompe Loeil at last months COLLABOR88 event, and decided it was time to have a real kitchen and a little garden out back. It's World Goth Day today, May 22nd, and to a lot of people that means dressing up like it is Halloween, head to toe in black and bringing out the demons. Well, to me Goth is more a state of mind. Yes, it is inspired by Gothic themes in architecture, fashion, and literature, but it is also a way of seeing the world. When I think of 'Goth', I think of despair and sadness, of emotions that we all have to hide on most days. Today I am feeling particularly lonely, and even unlovable to a great extent, and it puts me in a dark place. I may not be able to show it, but inside, I am crying in the dark.
