The Heart Of The Matter

Sorry for giving the appearance that I fell off the virtual map, I just had the worst case of Food Poisoning and/or Norwalk Virus, complete with several hospital visits, and am only now feeling like I have the energy to do anything productive with my time. Basically, I now have a rather fast heart rate, and they aren't sure why, but it seems to be normalizing on it's own now too. This "Look Of The Day" has been sitting in waiting since March 5th, and it's about time it got it's due attention. It is somewhat amusing that this look includes the adorable BareRose Key of Heart Bag in Red.



I love coats, particularly ones that make nice use of prim pieces and have some nice appropriately sized prints on them, like this AOHARU Red Check Short Trench Coat. I really love the collar and waist tie on this coat in particular, and the red plaid is really fresh and spring like. I paired it with a simple pair of black jeans from *AnnaH* (now .:Storin:.), this pair was part of the Heart of Love Limited Edition Laura set. The shoes here are a perfect matching red from Lya, the Sakura platform wedge pump was a gift from one of the Retrology event hunts, and are a really fantastic basic shoe. I loved the way the open collar of the coat looked with the [Armidi Gisaci] Gunmetal Niama Necklace, a great layered look adding a lot of impact at the throat. Other accessories include the adorable Kandy Kitty Mod Love Ring, and a simple ITF Dual Ball Brow Piercing.



This amazing wig is from Maitreya, the Piper II is soft fresh perfection, with a bobby pin tucked on one side, and it's smooth silky texture. It is a remarkable wig and looks particularly realistic. I have been wearing the -AnaLu- *InRainbows* skins almost exclusively since Ana dropped a review pack of them on me when she first released them. I love the soft lips, the lovely brow, it is a luminous and unique looking skin. The lashes are Thora from MMS, but might now be available at LeLutka, while the eyes are the amazing Miriel Hazel Eyes. A soft and sweet look, getting to the heart of the matter, which is that I have actually missed all my friends in the online community and blogging for you all very much.

Where Are My Eyes?

Who knew you could not wear eyes? Not me that's for sure! I was in a rush after a shoot with Nyla Rossini for my Vain Inc. Magazine Staff Picture, and removed all the items in the outfit folder I made for the occasion (a trick Anessa taught me). I quickly threw on what I had been wearing before, and jumped into my wee studio for some shots before changing into my costume for the night's Event at PIN UPS. I didn't notice till I was writing down what I was wearing, that I was infact not wearing eyes, and a jump into Edit>Appearance confirmed that they were "Not Worn", who knew? Won't make that mistake again. In any case, I am apparently wearing someone's eyes, if not my own, they belong to David Bowie on the fabulous Bowie Dress from EMERY. I always love a rock chick look, and EMERY has some of the best to be found on the grid. I paired the top with some slick looking Shiny Shiny Magic Pants from Fashionably Dead, they are tintable, but I kept them as is for the awesome liquid silver look.

I opted for red accessories for the most part, starting with these brilliant Red Glamour Metallic Pumps from [Detour], I do love a pointy toed pump! I also pulled in one of my Celestial Studios Hobo Bags, this one in Patent Cherry was a group gift back around Valentines, but I do believe you can pick one up at the shop too. To compliment the rocker look, I have this great Micci Set on from /artilleri/, I really love it, the tiny microphone Necklace and Earrings are so sweet, and I marvel at how Antie managed to get them so small and texture them so well. I pulled on this great chunky Mod Love Ring from Kandy Kitty, and stacks of Black Jelly Bracelets from Overdose/Punk by Proxy.



Hair is another great style from *booN, the UZU22 in Black is really a nice funky little casual style, I think it works really well here. Another great [RockBerry] Skin, and I can't stress enough that you must go and try them. They may not work on everyone's shape, but for only $800LaLas, you get six skins/make-ups and that is a real steal, these skins are simply fabulous and growing on me more everyday. Lashes are from Cake, the Separated Lashes really give some oomph to the eyes, especially since I am not wearing any!

Who's A Rockstar?

There are a very few places on the grid that put great separates together to give you one brilliant look that you want to wear as is. I buy a lot of combo looks, but usually pull them apart and mix them up, or I buy things separately and put my own spin on them. The one place that always seems to hit the mark for me is amerie's Naughty. I hadn't been in ages, and decided to check it out last week on a whim. I am so glad I did! This amazing Plastic Punker outfit is precisely the sort of look I find irresistible. It is funky, unique, and so cool. I love the jacket, it is simple amazing, with the feathered fur looking sleeves and tail, and the open front. It could work with a number of other looks too, but I liked the stripped tank that came with it, and it is really interesting with the red smeared hand print looking tattoo. The plaid shorts are punky and I love the laced detail on the one side. amerie's Naughty always combines system layers and prim work so well. The outfit came with a leg warmer too, but I opted not to wear them, simply because I prefer fishnets with a rocker look. These are some of the great Over The Knee Fishnets from Celestial Studios Lulu line. The Grays pack comes with three pair, including the Black I am wearing. Lulu is a great place to go if you are looking for coloured items, since the store is arranged by colour family and the socks all come in three packs of fabulous.

I wanted to pile on some chunky showy accessories, and pulled in this [Armidi Gisaci] Niama Necklace is this blackened Gunmetal tone. I love these (CREAMSHOP) Skull Rhinestone Earrings, they are a little bit Rock N' Roll a little bit pirate, and a lot a bit cute. I am also wearing the KaNdy Kitty Mod Love Ring, which is super sweet and really huge. I am always on the look for great big right handed rings, so if anyone has any hot shop tips, hit me up. The boots are the hunky Chunky Ribbon Boots from (Shiny Things), a great investment with the Colour Change Ribbons that you can tint with the click of a mouse on the Hud, there are dozens of colour choices, and you can tint each boot separately if you wish.



The Dare wig was one I picked up a few releases back from Diversity Hair, it's a great combinations of height, curls, and really worked well with this Rockstar look I have going. Skin is another great one from [RockBerry], I am loving these Stage 4 Skins, I can't believe how great they are priced. Worth a look for sure, I mean, where else can you get 6 make-ups for $800LaLas! The [RockBerry] Skins are also available OnRez. Lases are the schmexy Flamenco Trash Purple Essence Lashes from Canimal, Eyes are from Miriel.

Hang The DJ!

OK, so call me shocked as all heck, but somehow I was voted one of the Top 10 DJs in Vain Inc. Magazine's Contest. As an editor for Vain Inc., doing the Look of The Month, I actually didn't even tell anyone about the contest, because I just thought it was going to look wrong for me to even be part of it. But apparently, my friends, family, and regular listeners felt otherwise, and voted for me without my knowledge. You could have knocked me over with a feather when I found out I was one of the Top 10. I am incredibly flattered, mostly shocked, and really honoured to be in the company of the others in the Top 10, who are likely much better known then I am. In any case, Anessa offered to update my DJ Picture for me, since it was almost 8 months old, and I think she did a great job.

This outfit is composed of some of my very favorite things, this is exactly what I love to wear when I DJ a non-contest event, because this is how I dress in RL. casual, a little bit of funk, a lot of rock n' roll. I started with my absolute hands down favorite pair of Hell & Back Again Jeans from The Abyss. They are just a beat up and comfy pair, and go perfectly with a great T-Shirt, this one from Pushbutton Industries. The Old Fruit Tees come on all layers, which is one of my favorite things about *PBI*. I love a tucked in Tee, who needs to see tummy all the time? The shoes are some of the first sneakers I ever owner in-world, KK Outfitters makes some really great Lo-Top Kicks in a rainbow of colours, just as great for guys as for the ladies.



The accessories are all rock chick too, starting with this great Pick & Bullet Necklace from Vogart, I love the guitar picks on it. The bag is from *i-Candy*, the Boom Box Bags come in a pack of 2 coloured ones, but last time I was there (last week) they had a black one for just $1LaLa. The Spiked Black Arm Bands from WRONG are great wardrobe staples for me, and I nabbed this great Mod Love Ring from KaNdy Kitty on my last trip to Dogtown. This LuLu Link Belt is also a longtime favorite from Celestial Studios.



This Hair is another great style from Philotic Energy, I love shaggy cuts, and this Kalia one is really wicked. The skin is a new fave from QS Skins, and I am dying for new make-up releases, how great is this funky Disco 003 Skin? Love the Purple/Blue Lip and the Red shadow. The spider like Lashes are from Celestial Studios, the Club 1 Prim Lashes are really sexy and dramatic. Eyes are from BBBM, and I am waiting for news of their re-opening soon.
