The Way You Make Me Feel!

Wednesday, June 25th/2009; a day most of us thought would be like any other, but the sad news of Farrah Fawcett's anticipated passing this morning, followed by the shocking news of Michael Jackson's sudden death at the age of 50 changed this day in history forever.



Say what you will about Michael Jackson's freakish and bizarre later years, in the 80s, he was a g-d. I rushed home from school everyday when I was twelve and fought my three siblings for control of the record player, where I promptly played my Thriller album, again, and we all danced around the living room, knowing every word to every song. I had his poster on my bedroom wall, and I wore tiny buttons on my denim jacket, with Michael all over them. I was a true child of the 80s, and would have killed for that red studded leather jacket at one time, even though I knew it was hella dorky.



I remember the songs, the videos, and the way Michael Jackson changed the face of popular music and videos forever. I learned to do the moonwalk in stocking feet on my mother's hardwood floors. Thriller was a short film, going beyond mere music video status, I remember the night it premiered on TV, my whole family tuned in to watch. I remember the parodies of Beat It! and I'm Bad, Weird Al did so many, and that is the truest from of flattery. Those parodies are still as popular as the originals.



Michael was, to say the least, a character. But his life was both epic and tragic. We know about his legal troubles, something that bothers me still is the not knowing the truth. He never had a real childhood, the stories of his overbearing father are legendary. His entire family is a circus of freaks and eccentrics. We know about his bizarre fatherhood displays, calling his child 'blanket'. We know of his horrific plastic surgeries and his skin condition, something that has been fodder for the tabloids for decades now. But now, all I can think of are his triumphs. He was an incredible talent, he broke down a lot of walls, and he paved the way for so many artists. Justin Timberlake comes to mind, his style is so similar. So today, I threw together a look that makes me think of Michael. Military style jacket, black and white, the Jheri Curl, shades, and those white socks.

Rest in peace Michael, hope you enjoy that Neverland Ranch that is heaven and can finally find yourself, accept yourself, and feel the love you had been searching for your whole life. All I have for you today are thanks, thank you Michael Jackson, for The Way You Make Me Feel!

Gonna Be Some Bunny's Baby

Well it looks like it is Bunny Blogger Day today, so why not add a little more fur to the feeds. Rabbits tend to reproduce rapidly so I have heard. With my shopping diet well over two months in progress, I was generously gifted CSR cards by friends Dove Swanson and Ana Lutetia, and the very first gift I chose was the *DP*yumyum* Story of a Bunny avatar. It is just too adorable, and watching Achariya show it off so spectacularly over the last few weeks made it a must have. I wanted to have some fun in-world again, and there is nothing more giggle inducing then a silly avatar and a group of friends to laugh about it with.



But my bunny is doing a happy dance, and with very good reason. The Heart of Love fundraiser for Shir Dryke hit it's goal of $700,000 LaLas today, and there is nothing more wonderful and joy inspiring then knowing that a very special persons is going to get some much needed health care. But more then that, it speaks to just how much we as a community can accomplish in a really short time. I am overjoyed for Shir and her family and friends, and I am proud of each and every person who donated even a single LaLa to the fund.



I decided to dress my bunny in one of the adorable Heart Of Love t-shirts from Surf Co., one of the many items I picked up in my "off diet" binge for the charity. I got the fat-pack, and since we are having a Best in Yellow contest at PIN UPS tonight, it was the natural choice. I just felt my bunny needed a baggy pair of shorts, and I adore these Hot Pink Dongipani Shorts from Differ*nt, a shop that has unfortunately disappeared from the grid. I loved the idea of hi-top chucks on my bunny, so my MK Fashion Super Sneaks Platforms were the natural choice, they are cartoonish, and are amazingly versatile with a touch script to change the shoe colour in a flash. I added a cute touch with this *i-Candy* Strawberry Necklace in Blue, just for a touch of whimsy, and it is a sweet accessory to be sure. My only other added "Ketsy Bunny" touch was the wig, the Oxygen hair in Steel from The Abyss, which has always been one of my favorites in the sexy and cute variety.

Grey is The New Black

I have been meaning to take a look at some of the wonderful things being sent to me by friends and as review packs from the amazing content creators who send me their new items. Lyra Muse of Jaywalk frequently sends me shoes and now her new clothing line, and it was time I had a good look. So glad I did, as this amazing Delora Corset Shirt is just the kind of thing I love. It is a jacket layer top, with a great slimming grey corset, and the upper blouse part is available in a number of great colours, all with a tie collar, really classy. While each shirt comes with a co-ordinating collar, I decided to use the one from the Grey set with this Mint version. While skimming this months Vogue magazine, I hit upon an article proclaiming Grey the new 'Black'. With that in mind, I dove into another great pack of fabulous from *PERSONA*'s Myllie Writer, these amazing Barb Plaid Pants in Charcoal, I love a great dress pant, something polished and clean, and classic. The combination of prints here, the delicate pinstripe of the corset, matched with the fine plaid of the slacks work really well together.



Shoes were another gift sent to me by Lyanis Sin, her new Lya Nichelle Pumps, which I have showcased before, are some of my favorites. I adore the suede texture, the almost opalescent quality of the textures, and the entire fatpack is well worth the LaLas. All the colours are similarly delicious, I love this soft green Emerald pair, and the suede is the perfect look for the upcoming fall season. I had seen this [gisele] handbag blogged before on the feeds, and I am terrible for not writing down who brought it to my attention, I am so glad they did. The Maman bag comes in a two colour pack, this is the Ecru version, each version coming with two possible hold positions. The copper colour accents are lovely. I pulled in some simple Sculpted Sugar Copper Gem Bangles from ~*Fresh Baked Goods*~, using the script to set the gems to Onyx. Sweetie Pye tells me she has some great new pieces due out soon, and I can't wait to see what is coming for fall. This amazing Rommy Ring came in a review pack from Burroughs, it had so many items in it I wasn't even sure I could look at them all, but I am glad I pulled this ring out, it is completely scripted, with colour change pearl, metal, and a resizer script. I set to to the coppery coloured metal to match the rest of the accessories, and it is a perfect compliment to this look. I am anxious to see what else Burroughs has to offer. Earrings are from -EARTHTONES-, I adore these Circles Earrings with Teardrops, as the crystal can be changes to dozens of colour options to match any look.



A polished look calls for a polished coif, this one from The Abyss, whose hair is remarkably low prim and really stylish. The asymmetrical Aeon Bob is lovely, I particularly like the texturing at the nape of the neck, where it looks like a natural hairline. Another favorite Celestial Studios skin from the Charmed Line, this is the soft Orchid make-up, which is really pretty with the stunning Big Hazel Eyes from Miriel. Separated Lashes are from Cake. If grey is indeed the new 'Black' this season, I am over the moon, grey works so beautifully with almost any colour, and is flattering on pretty much everyone, as well as a slimming and classic wardrobe staple.

Hang The DJ!

OK, so call me shocked as all heck, but somehow I was voted one of the Top 10 DJs in Vain Inc. Magazine's Contest. As an editor for Vain Inc., doing the Look of The Month, I actually didn't even tell anyone about the contest, because I just thought it was going to look wrong for me to even be part of it. But apparently, my friends, family, and regular listeners felt otherwise, and voted for me without my knowledge. You could have knocked me over with a feather when I found out I was one of the Top 10. I am incredibly flattered, mostly shocked, and really honoured to be in the company of the others in the Top 10, who are likely much better known then I am. In any case, Anessa offered to update my DJ Picture for me, since it was almost 8 months old, and I think she did a great job.

This outfit is composed of some of my very favorite things, this is exactly what I love to wear when I DJ a non-contest event, because this is how I dress in RL. casual, a little bit of funk, a lot of rock n' roll. I started with my absolute hands down favorite pair of Hell & Back Again Jeans from The Abyss. They are just a beat up and comfy pair, and go perfectly with a great T-Shirt, this one from Pushbutton Industries. The Old Fruit Tees come on all layers, which is one of my favorite things about *PBI*. I love a tucked in Tee, who needs to see tummy all the time? The shoes are some of the first sneakers I ever owner in-world, KK Outfitters makes some really great Lo-Top Kicks in a rainbow of colours, just as great for guys as for the ladies.



The accessories are all rock chick too, starting with this great Pick & Bullet Necklace from Vogart, I love the guitar picks on it. The bag is from *i-Candy*, the Boom Box Bags come in a pack of 2 coloured ones, but last time I was there (last week) they had a black one for just $1LaLa. The Spiked Black Arm Bands from WRONG are great wardrobe staples for me, and I nabbed this great Mod Love Ring from KaNdy Kitty on my last trip to Dogtown. This LuLu Link Belt is also a longtime favorite from Celestial Studios.



This Hair is another great style from Philotic Energy, I love shaggy cuts, and this Kalia one is really wicked. The skin is a new fave from QS Skins, and I am dying for new make-up releases, how great is this funky Disco 003 Skin? Love the Purple/Blue Lip and the Red shadow. The spider like Lashes are from Celestial Studios, the Club 1 Prim Lashes are really sexy and dramatic. Eyes are from BBBM, and I am waiting for news of their re-opening soon.

Green & Gold Dreams

I am just the sort of crazy that collects clothing whether I might ever wear it or not. One thing I can't resist is a great ballgown, and when I saw this elegant Serenity Gown at ~~Ivalde~~ I knew I needed it, even though I had no particular event in mind. When we celebrated one of the PIN UPS GIRLS Rez Day Parties at PIN UPS and it was a "Best in Green" Event, it was finally time to wear this elegant gown. It bodice is beaded with golden yellow and this lush fresh spring green colour falls nicely between too pastel and too bright. I love the flowing layers of what looks like organza, it moves brilliantly when dancing.



I decided to pick up on the yellow in the gown with this classic Kamoana Necklace & Earrings Set from -EARTHTONES-, which is so versatile it can be worn dressed up or easily take a trip to the beach. It is lovely, with organic pieces of shell in irregular shapes, and it seems to reflect light. I particularly love the delicate earring that lends itself well to the collar like necklace. I also pulled on some bracelets from -EARTTONES-, the Lushwood Cuffs have little inset gems that bring in both yellow and green accents. A sweet Yellow Clutch from Tres Blah is perfect for stashing a few LaLas for last minute shopping. My shoes were entirely hidden by the gown, but I wanted to show them off simply because they are such a perfect match, these Lime and Gold "Gotcha" Stilettos from Sylfie's Prim Seductions were one of the first pairs of prims shoes I ever purchased, and I couldn't resist taking them out for a spin once again. I had been waiting for the right time to wear this sleek up-do from The Abyss, and it seemed the perfect time to show off my Jewelry to full advantage. This Xia style is one of the closest to the head styles I have seen, really well conceived. I am wearing a skin from Esthetica Make-Up Arts, it was a gift in the Retrology Easter Hunt, but is available to purchase. Alexis Stapovic, of Flawed Perfect, is making some lovely skins now that won't break your bank, and she does some custom work too. Love Lashes are by [Detour], and Watery Eyes in Splatter from BBBM.

Week 13: Flickr SL™: Look Of The Day

With 332 Members in the Flickr Group Second Life® - Look Of The Day and going on to Week 13 of the weekly contest, I am thrilled to announce our first winning submission from a Fella! This week's winning submission comes from Steve Hansen, and it is a clean, simple and well put together look. Steve is clearly a man who knows what image he wants to project, and a man brave enough to wear pink is a man who is secure in who he is. I myself am a fan of Redgrave, so I was happy to see Steve pull in this great Redgrave shirt, called the SoftPinks LongSleeved Retro Shirt. He is also kickin' the fabulous Redgrave sculpted men's boots, which I have purchased for my man as well, they are simply great, clean, nicely textured, near flawless. Steve is wearing Chinos from Armidi in a really nice Charcoal colour, and I love putting pink and Gray together, they just work!

This hair from Cake, called Rumor, is really hot on Steve, I love the mussy bed head casual look of it. I had never really seen any skins from The Abyss on men, but this great Scorpio Origin 3D skin is really nice, and a really different looking skin to my eyes.

Steve put together a wonderful look, and presented it in a really simple way, but it has great impact. A Sassy Little Devil

Sometimes being bad just feels so good, or looks so good as the case may be. For the recent 'Saints & Sinners' Event at PIN UPS Night Club, I decided to get a little bit devilish, but as always, I put my own spin on things. I love pulling apart costumes and re-working them to make them fresh, so I started off with the horns, tail, and trident from a costume I had from "Reasonable Desires". I paired them with this adorably devilish hair from "Celestial Studios" called 'Cypher', although I am not certain it is still even sold, the colour, called 'Blood Red' is simply amazing, I love this hair texture.

For the main part of this costume, I went with this very sexy 'Assassin' costume from "Red Ruin". I opted not to wear the bra and garters/stocking that came with it, going instead for sizzle in a big way with 'The Catalyst Boot' from "The Abyss". This boot is too delicious, and it works so well in a costume look like this. It just seems to wrap the leg so perfectly, and they required no adjustments for my Avatar whatsoever, this is straight out of the box. So this is my take on a Sassy Little Devil, next time the 'Saints & Sinners' Event rolls around, I may have to be an Angel, to make up for how much I loved being the bad girl!

Please Don't Stop The Music!

Second Life is all about making our dreams come true, and today one of mine has. As I mentioned in my Previous Post, Pin Upshaw of "PIN UP DOLLS Boutique" unveiled her "Cosmo Dress" today, and it is an amazing re-creation of the "Versace" gown that Rihanna is wearing on the March 2008 Cover of Cosmopolitan Magazine (USA/Canada Version). Pinny overheard me saying how much I loved it, and would kill for it, and surprised me with it this week when she stopped in to see me while I was snapping away for my Blog. I was floored! Look at that Babydoll skirt! It is not Poofy or Fluffy, but form fitted and sleek, it moves so naturally, not like a pile of Flexi flaps, but as a whole, as close to fabric movement as I have seen. It is ingenious, and I am not sure I have seen it before in my travels in SL. I love this gown, and yes, the "Lemon Drop" Yellow, just like Rihanna's is my Fave!

So here is my recreation of that very "Cosmo Girl" look! I have included a shot from the Cover, so you can truly marvel at what an amazing job Pinny did here. I paired it with some sleek hair from "The Abyss", this Style called 'Secret' really has the same feel to the style Rihanna has on her cover. I threw on some "EARTHTONES" Jewelry, these fabulous Carollin Earrings, and a bangle on my Forearm, this one is the 'Deco Wood Bangle'. Shoes, well, when you get to see legs like this, the only thing to do is wear some "Stiletto Moody" to make the Couture look complete, these 'Foxy Slingbacks' are very FOXY Indeed! Amazing skin from "TaP" (Now Fleur Skins) in Bronze looks amazing against the bright of the dress, and I felt like I was ready for my Cover Shoot!

Queen of The Damned

One of my favorite events at PIN UPS is the "Goth & Vamp Night" event. There is just something so sexy about getting into some fantastic over the top sexy black costume, wearing a goth or emo skin, and playing at a Dark Seductress look. One of the best places to grab up Goth looks in SL is "BareRose Tokyo". Their stuff is increadibly affordable, almost always comes in a pack with more than one colour option, and pretty much everything is Transfer, so sometimes you can get a great outfit and share it with your friends. BareRose is masterful with their detailed goth looks, this one from the 'Carmilla' outfit, sans the skirts, is increadibly detailed down to the brown leather lacing in *ahem* certain very sexy places. I love these new boots from "The Abyss", the Catalyst boot is sleek and sexy, and looks like well tooled rubber. I love that they required zero adjustments, I just popped them on and they were perfection, they also looked great no matter the pose I was in, as you all know, sometimes boots show gaps when you flex an ankle or knee. This 'Weeping' skin from Celestial is brilliantly Emo and worked so well with this look. I threw on this chunky upper-arm bangle from "::69::", something I picked up when I was there last, and I think it completed my "Queen of the Damned" look very nicely.

Grunge Couture!

Ever since "Thimbles" joined the Retrology Shops, I have been Jonesing over pretty much everything in the store. Melatonin Hax and Apathia Hammerer, Thimbles Designers, have quite a great thing going on, their stuff is an awesome mix of Silly, Fun, Kitschy, and Cool. But best of all... it is Uber affordable! You can indulge yourself for very few Lindens, and they have great stuff showing up week after week. Even the look of their shop is fun! This plaid shirt... with the hilarious name 'Das Pladinator' is so awesome, I love wearing it! When I put this look together, my husband Draco said, "You Look Sexy Baby!", I said "I Look Like I am Going to Clean Toilets!". And that is Exactly the look I was going for, Sexy Cleaning Ladies - EAT YOUR HEART OUT! Awesome "The Abyss" grungy jeans, some chunky boots from "Shiny Things" and a few Tats... No one says the Fashion can't be a hell of a lot of fun! This Shaggy Hair from "ETD" is Sexy, with just a hint of Sultry Eyes Peeking out from under the Bangs. OK, I need to dash... there are Toilets somewhere in Second Life that need a good scrubbing!

A Little Black Dress

For my Pre-New Year's Party, I pulled this sweet satin 'Little Black Dress' from my closet. Little Rebel has some great photo real goodies, and I had purchased this one way back when. I was not entirely thrilled with the edged on it, and no glitchies makes it a little difficult, so I made my own. But, I love the back tie detail and paired with these Fab new MUST HAVE black stilettos from "Maitreya", it is a sweet look for any party girl.

For the "Sessions: Kiss Off!" Event @ PIN UPS, a Lipstick Colours Event, I grabbed the first labeled PINK Item in my wardrobe, and threw it on. It happened to be this Freebie Gown from Nicky Ree. I loved to bring a splash of colour to the Party! Generally most of my freebies go into a folder to sort/discard at a later date, but this one got premium placement in my NEW DRESSES folder. Nicky Ree is incredibly talented and her freebie's are like no one Else's. Her shading and texturing of satin and silk make it look "Reach Out And Touch" Slinky and Sexy. The gown speaks for itself, so I kept the rest of this look pretty understated. From Freebie to Fabulous!

Love this frosty looking coat and hat set from Illusions, a fabulous store for masks and costume elements. They have such skill with Prim work. This was my cool "Blue & White" look for the Hanukkah Party at PIN UPS. The Coat is a work of art. The pants, a new fave staple from Fashionable Dead are totally tint-able and work so well with boots. Speaking of Boots, love these Holiday Boots from Last Call: Vamp.

For the best in Denim event, I threw on these great distressed denims from The Abyss. I am loving their stuff, and can't wait for more releases. The top, with it's amazing ruched detailing is by the amazing Pixel Dolls, and comes in a set with all kinds of colour and layer choices, and even a fabulous bra to wear underneath, definitely worth the lindens! Although I don't generally buy hair from Tickled Pink, I had to buy this one, it just makes me smile, love the multiple pony tails along the nape of the neck, so cute! I tinted the Bubblegum Pearls from Decollage to match. I think it makes a nice casual look overall.
