The Artist At Work

I have been an artsy person for as long back as I can remember, and the minute I spied the / XIAJ / Sunday Morning Artist Studio set at this past The Season's Story - Summer Event, I had to have it all. Always a visual thinker and dreamer, as soon as I could hold a crayon I was drawing on everything. My mother saved some of my early art, and it seems I was always drawing people. Not real people, people from my imagination. All through my school years, the class that kept me motivated was Art Class. Formal or not, and I have many teachers who can attest to the fact that often I was caught doodling in other classes too. Friends would always asks for doodles and caricatures of themselves, and I was happy to oblige, even in Math or Social Studies.

I was once thrown out of my High-School art class for screaming at a teacher, true story. He was a pretentious ass who wore a toupee and often would just pick up a pencil or a paint brush and alter a students work in progress as they sat there and let him. I was incensed, to me art and creation is sacred, how dare he just assume that he could 'perfect' their classwork by doing it for them. Needless to say I was all full of righteous indignation as I stood in the hallway waiting for the class to end. I still get a little riled up at the thought.  

I continue to 'Art' to this day, I have an office full of paints, brushes, scraps of fabric, wood, a sewing machine, heaps of tiny cute odds and ends, beads, and just about every kind of pencil and marker an artist could ever want. But it takes inspiration now for me to push through and create. I need to be in a certain mood, and when I am, I can be up for days and night on end, just puttering around and creating things. My nieces and nephew have all gained heaps of new 'Stuffed' friends from my sewing work, they clamor for them, and want to give them to their friends too. I can't say no. My Etsy store dreams may never happen, but it is about the process after all.

Girl At The Rock Show

Well, there is a new Event on the block this week, the 'Rock Attitude Fashion Fair' is in full swing. I am an old school Rocker Chick, I went to KISS concerts and lost my hearing, saw Guns N Roses and Metallica in an open stadium in the middle of a hot summer perched on my boyfriends shoulders, and made a leather biker jacket and high-heeled boots my daily uniform.



I didn't know what to expect at the event, and was happily surprised by some of the fabulous fashion finds. I also saw a heavy dose of cliche 'Rocker Chick' wear, lots of skulls and crosses, boobs hanging out, ripped jeans, leather and lace up the yin yang. To each his, or her, own I say. But to me, my Rocker look has grown up quite a bit.



This look is full of things I love. A skinny pair of leather pants, a tummy bearing sweater that covers but doesn't look prudish.  A huge helping of rivets and spikes always helps, like this fabulous collar that comes in a set of 3 metal options, I love adding that little extra pop of style.



But lets talk hair, because it is my favorite thing about the Rock Attitude Fashion Fair and I actually bought two color sets of the same style.  It is wonderfully customizable, with HUD options for both sides, including ombre and solid options to mix and match endlessly. The bangs are perfect, and the texture is Va Va Voom! I had not heard of the creator [RA] or Runaway before, but will now be on the lookout for more from this creator.



A cheeky little back Tattoo from my favorite Letis Tattoo ties in the colorful hair and the perfectly matched Ombre Slink Avatar Enhancement Nails from PUMBY*. Now I am all set for the concert, any concert, anywhere and anytime.
