Girlz In The Hoods

Sometimes, a look starts from the top down. This one started while exploring my Hair Fair folder, having long since forgotten what exactly I purchased. I somehow snagged this Aitui Hair in my travels, I think it was mainly because of the sweet hood with the hanging tassels, the two-toned hair, and the fact that I had no idea Aitui made hair. Clearly, I need to get out more. This Backfire style comes in His & Her Versions, and I believe the flowers on the ends of the hood are scripted to colour change. I really love two-toned hair, and so the choice was pretty easy for me, picking up this Mulatto version. The texture on the black hair are very well done, the blond is a little more rough, but most of the streaky bits are well under the hood. I felt the forehead was a little exposed, so I tacked on some ETD Right Swept Bangs. I find Elika's separate bangs so useful in so many situations, and they are a great option when you don't have time to modify a whole wig. I was going with a grungier look here, so went with the Canimal Essence of Frost Skin, which has some awesome blue make-up and blue tinted lips, while both Delta Eyes and Love Lashes are from [Detour].



Going with the knit hood, I searched my inventory for a black knit sweater, and luckily came up with this great High Neck Long Sweater from *amerie's Naughty*. This sweater can be worn as a top layer short sweater, or you can wear the pants part and skirt piece for a mini-dress style with a pair of leggings. I love these Sam Glam Pants Scrunched Up Jeans from LeeZu Baxter. There just seems so funky and cool, and the hand painted textures on the pockets and odd stitching make them look lived in. The awesome Stripe Wool Sox come from *mia* of MiaSofia, and I loved that they are different lengths on each leg, like one is slipping down into your boot. I hate when that happens in RL, but it always does anyway, and it is so much less bothersome in-world. The socks come in a great pack with about 6 colour version, and they were hella cheap.



With so many prims in the sweater and pants, I went with a simple bag with a little character from ::BONEFLOWER::. This Military Shoulder Bag comes in a pack with several flag versions, but I went with the Beijing version in honor of the recent Olympic Games. Great boots from Maitreya do the trick, keeping with the slouchy and scrunched theme, the Dune Boot is a must have as a sleek medium height boot that, though a very high heel, sidesteps the all too common uber-sexed look. A simply Silver banded Solitaire Ring with a colour change crystal is all the jewelry that I needed with this look. A simple look, inspired by a great tasseled hood and hair combo, a little grunge on-the-go.

Who's A Rockstar?

There are a very few places on the grid that put great separates together to give you one brilliant look that you want to wear as is. I buy a lot of combo looks, but usually pull them apart and mix them up, or I buy things separately and put my own spin on them. The one place that always seems to hit the mark for me is amerie's Naughty. I hadn't been in ages, and decided to check it out last week on a whim. I am so glad I did! This amazing Plastic Punker outfit is precisely the sort of look I find irresistible. It is funky, unique, and so cool. I love the jacket, it is simple amazing, with the feathered fur looking sleeves and tail, and the open front. It could work with a number of other looks too, but I liked the stripped tank that came with it, and it is really interesting with the red smeared hand print looking tattoo. The plaid shorts are punky and I love the laced detail on the one side. amerie's Naughty always combines system layers and prim work so well. The outfit came with a leg warmer too, but I opted not to wear them, simply because I prefer fishnets with a rocker look. These are some of the great Over The Knee Fishnets from Celestial Studios Lulu line. The Grays pack comes with three pair, including the Black I am wearing. Lulu is a great place to go if you are looking for coloured items, since the store is arranged by colour family and the socks all come in three packs of fabulous.

I wanted to pile on some chunky showy accessories, and pulled in this [Armidi Gisaci] Niama Necklace is this blackened Gunmetal tone. I love these (CREAMSHOP) Skull Rhinestone Earrings, they are a little bit Rock N' Roll a little bit pirate, and a lot a bit cute. I am also wearing the KaNdy Kitty Mod Love Ring, which is super sweet and really huge. I am always on the look for great big right handed rings, so if anyone has any hot shop tips, hit me up. The boots are the hunky Chunky Ribbon Boots from (Shiny Things), a great investment with the Colour Change Ribbons that you can tint with the click of a mouse on the Hud, there are dozens of colour choices, and you can tint each boot separately if you wish.



The Dare wig was one I picked up a few releases back from Diversity Hair, it's a great combinations of height, curls, and really worked well with this Rockstar look I have going. Skin is another great one from [RockBerry], I am loving these Stage 4 Skins, I can't believe how great they are priced. Worth a look for sure, I mean, where else can you get 6 make-ups for $800LaLas! The [RockBerry] Skins are also available OnRez. Lases are the schmexy Flamenco Trash Purple Essence Lashes from Canimal, Eyes are from Miriel.

How to Emo-te

I think "amerie's NAUGHTY" is now one of my favorite shops in SL, Amerie Spitteler's work is creative and fresh, the designs are cute and kitschy, and the options in each look are infinitely re-workable and her separates are really versatile. This outfit, with the exception of the tights is called "EMO Girl" and I love the open collar with the loose tie, the Jacket is classic and the skirt, also included is just adorable. Sometimes schoolgirl looks are tricky, you either look like a Porn Star or like something from a Japanese Anime Fantasy. This look is a little bit School Girl, but a lot classy too.

I was looking for an opportunity to wear these fabulous printed tights from ":bijou:", and I think they look fabulous here. The shoes, called 'Serpenti' by Damen Gorilla of "Adam N Eve" were a gift; they appeared in the folder of items I sent in my BOGOF (Buy One Get One Free) Voucher Request after the recent sale. Some folks may not a fan of a pointy-toed shoe, but I love them, and these look positively dangerous, so sexy! The purse, a little touch of cute that I picked up from "Nerdy Birdy" ages ago came in a pack with about 8 colours, but when I tried to hunt down the SLURL today, it looks like the shop has been sold and the new owner has yet to re-open, so I am not sure it will be available again.

When it come to hair, I must say that I like to mix it up, but I do have my favorite designers (ETD, Armidi, TRUTH, Celstial Studios, Maitreya, Old Gravy come to mind immediately) but I have been checking out some "NEW to ME" stuff lately, and this style called 'Elina' from "Diversity Hair" is one of them. I really love how it looks, the textures are nice, and although not really Flexi, I think this style is really well done and something I really have not seen around, I am a big fan of something that sort of diverts from the well traveled fashion paths. This is my version of the EMO Girl... but I could have done it a dozen other ways, which is why it is worth every Linden!

Putting Out An A.A.B. - Where Is Old Gravy!

Since getting a little more serious with my blog, I have been compiling a list of SLURLS so that I can let you know where you can buy what I am writing about. Yesterday, while doing my rounds, I headed over to "Old Gravy" to get the SLURL, as I was wearing this fabulous 'Jersey Girl' hair from them. When I first TPd in I was sure I must have had an old landmark, so I checked search... No Old Gravy in search either. I knew they were on the Unsung Heros SIM, so I scoured the whole thing, no Old Gravy. I was panicked. I looked at Satine Dot's profile... this is what it said:

Ok, surely her partner in OG, Candi Honey, must have the REAL Landmark in her picks, ok here we go [No Parcel, Unsung Heroes (156, 103, 42)]and you guessed it, NADA! Another owner, Malkov Trescothick, he must know the new 'Secret' Location... in his picks [Hannah Hannya, Voice-aholics Headquarters, Unsung Heroes (173, 100, 26)] again NOTHING! I immediately joind the Update Group, to search past notices for any news, not a single archived notice in the last month. And it appears as if none of the owners have logged in several weeks. I IM'd my sister Anessa Stine who was attending the GLAM World Fashion Extravaganza. I said... "OMG, Old Gravy is Gone!". She knew nothing and asked Antonia Marat, who was sitting nearby, Antie was similarly perplexed, we all knew nothing!

If Anyone Knows Anything About Where Old Gravy Went... Please Please IM Me or Leave a Comment on my Blog, I am so sad, this was my "Rockabilly Princess" Home in SL, and I am distraught.

So here I am in this Uber cute outfit, with my favorite hair from Old Gravy, the 'Jersey Girl' and all I can ask is, will I ever see "Old Gravy" Again? I wanted to gush about these amazing Leopard Print Pumps from ::69:: with the itty bitty skulls on them wearing Top Hats and Hair Bows, and about this awesome Sweater from "amerie's NAUGHTY" with the cute little charms on the zipper pull and the amazing arm prims, and the sweet bunny ears hood.. but I am finding it hard to focus. Here is one of my favorite skirts of all time, my "WRONG!" plaid mini, yet I feel no joy today. So I am putting out an ALL AVATARS BULLETIN... please help me find OLD GRAVY!

Lucky 13

The number 13 has always been very lucky for me, I turned 13 on a Friday the 13th. It was lucky I had this great T-Shirt, one of many I own from "Boing Fromage!" in my closet for our recent "T's Me" T-Shirt Event. I love pairing grungy basics with a bit of dressy sparkle, and this awesome vest by "Kenzie & Co." let most of the T-Shirt show. Sassy little mini-skirts, like this one from "amerie's NAUGHTY" just scream for thigh high socks, and I scooped up armloads of them on my last trip to "MG Fashion", they come in dozens of colours in fat-packs, grab em! Always looking for a reason to wear these amazing 'Bloom' Boots from "Maitreya"... I think this look came together nicely. A touch of Cyber-Punk in the Gloves, some sleek "ETD" hair, and I made 13 the Luckiest Number of ALL!

Under The Mistletoe...

This new hair from "Calla", The Mistletoe in the Two Tone Pack is Brilliant! Love at first sight and I want to wear it all the time. This colour most matches my RL hair, as I have had a ever widening gray streak in the front since I was 12! I just think it is brilliant and softens the whole look of the outfit. This soft fur Hoodie, from "amerie's Naughty" is cuddly and warm with a fluffy Marabou trimmed collar. I love the teal colour of it, and was thrilled to find it looked so fabulous with these crackling boots from the amazing "Maitreya". Paired with a freebie skirt from "Winter Moon" and some great accessories, this look has to be one of my all time favorites!

A Brilliant Coat to Heat Things Up!

For the "Winter Wonderland" Event, I went with this fabulous coat I picked up at Spics & Sugar in Koenji. I love the Asymmetrical Skirts, the sculpted collar, and the details on it. I decided to wear it more like a dress, and added a pair of tights from Cream Shop. As there were no glitches, I quickly made a pair in grey to match. These boots from L&E were a perfect match. This Toque and Hair Combo from 141 BONBON was too cute to resist, love the little Pompom on Top. I did mod the jacket to remove the Cross from the top of the chain on the collar, but that is a personal preference of mine, I show both looks below. Note: If you want to do similar Mods, Remember to MAKE A COPY before preceding... there are a lot of Tiny Prims to fiddle with here.
