Elegantly Waisted

I have been on a casual jag lately, and I decided it was time to class things up a bit. I was surprised on log-in yesterday to find some gifts from Neferia Abel in my inventory, a number of her latest releases, and I couldn't wait to dive in and see what the folders held inside. The very first outfit I pulled on was this Aksana Highwaist Skirt Outfit in Grey. It is another one of the reasons I adore ~~Ivalde~~ so very much, it makes dressing beyond easy. This outfit comes with a number of layer options, so you can wear the top or skirt separately, as well as some stockings (though I opted to go with a Black pair of Tights from Blaze*). I love the fine grey plaid of the skirt, and Nef's hand painted details are really sweet. The ruffled blouse comes with a prim collar, and is a great photo-real texture that looks elegant yet understated.



Nef often tells me that she thinks Morrigan Hyun's Elegance Hats are under-represented on the feeds, and I tend to agree. This amazing Thalia Hat is really spectacular, a mix of pearls and flowers, black twisting loops that look almost celestial. I am pretty sure that Morrigan sent it to me after I saw it and commented on it in her Flickr feed, but it is so fantastic, I may have bought it, and certainly would have if it wasn't sent to me. Speaking of fantastic, it has been said before and needs to be said again, Tesla Miles newest release of these amazing Hylda Low Boots are simply brilliant. I am always impressed when -Tesla- has a new release because each one trumps the last in terms of quality and style. These boots are great with elegant metal accents and a great selection of colour options. I had a blast picking up freebies and shopping the Jewelry Expo this week, and am thrilled to show off some of my goodies, starting with these simple but much needed Stud Earrings from Sian Birke Jewelry. I have always wanted a basic stud earring, and this offers endless combinations for metals and gemstones by script. I also nabbed these ~flirt~ Hearts & Diamonds Bracelets in the Semi-Precious Stones version. They can easily be worked into a more dressy or more casual look. A big chunky Catherine Black Pearl Cocktail Ring from ~Muse~, who was sadly missing from the Expo, is still a favorite, and a really stunning piece. A simple Silver Clutch from Adam N Eve finished off the accessories for this look.



I picked up this great Minako Hair from Kin at the Hair Fair, I am still wading through my folders from the Fair, and this style is really punky, but somehow works perfectly to set off the elegant factor of this look with a little bit of edge. It works really well with the hat too. A favorite skin from Celestial Studios, the Silver 2 in the Charmed Line is always a fun one to wear with a more classic style, giving it a glam factor. Separated Lashes are from Cake, Glassy Mustard Green Eyes from Freak Fantasia complete the essentials. This time, and elegant look was definitely not wasted on me.

Week 16: Flickr SL™: Look Of The Day Winner

Finally getting caught up to week 16, this weeks Flickr SL™: Look Of The Day Winner has really crafted a very individual look; loads of character, lots of unique and perhaps overlooked content creators, and a really fabulous presentation. Kei Kojishi's Androgynous J-Rock is really a great look, and along with all the details of the look, makes it a real winner. Every member of the SL™: Look Of The Day group can submit one picture per day, a total of seven per week, and need only provide a detailed list of credits for their look to be eligible to win the $500LaLa weekly prize. Kei has done a great job with this submission, and wins this weeks prize (courtesy of my own rapidly declining LaLa Balance) and a really rocking congrats!

Kei's look is topped of with an adorable wig from Kin, the hair texture is so well done it requires a bit of a double-take to recognize it as a virtual creation. He made his own skin, which is absolutely brilliant, and makes my attempts at making t-shirts look beginner at best. Eyes are from XS. He is also wearing some of the great Tats by Canimal Zephyr, the Body Grafitti Asian Themed set from Canimal.

His layering of tank-top over sweater is very creative, using a WRONG Stripey Sweater as a base, and a jacket layer shirt from Dirty Lynx . His pants are some adorable Doodle Jeans from See No Evil.

Kei has accessorized at a Mater's Level, using just about every attachment point I can imagine. A Tote Bag from Sweetest Goodbye, a belt with i-pod from Bukka, and these amazing Headphones from AM Radio's The Far Away (You Must Visit!). His necklace is from FallnAngel, and these adorable Xtra Hi-Top Chucks from Pornstar. Kei has modified piercings from Flipside and a bracelet from Neko Gear to really personalize his look. Well Done!

Week 15: Flickr SL™: Look Of The Day Winner

The Week 15 Winner for the Flickr Group Second Life - Look Of The Day, is this adorably spunky submission from Juushika Redgrave. Not only is it high time we had a weekly winner that was Neko, but Juushika has pretty much done my job for me, by detailing how this look came together and why it is so special. I am going to let Juushika's own words, found in the description of the picture, describe to details of the look. As you can see, all the credits are given to the individuals that toiled away to bring these amazing finds to us all, and even though the look is made of several Freebies or Retired items, a good look is always blog-worthy in my opinion. I also wanted to add that Juushika made this skin and has moded so many of the prim items in this look, it shows real skill. Juushika wins the $500LaLa Weekly Prize, and a big round of appaws (corny me!).

In the game Second Life, I play the avatar Juushika Redgrave.

I adore this outfit, even though it's somewhat unusual for me. I actually started with the undershirt, which is a high-waisted shirt from Artilleri with prim cuffs. I found that it looked wonderful under long-waisted short-sleeved shirts, giving the appearance of layered long sleeves that had been pushed up. There were a number of tshirts in my inventory that looked great, but I decided on this one, and old (and probably retired) freebie from Paper Couture, because I've always wanted to wear it. I chose shorts to keep the outfit light and warm-weather friendly—this pair is from G.L.A.M.. The shoes are a wonderfully cheap pair from Darkstar. The texturing isn't exceptional but the price can't be beat, and they are mod/copy, which gave me the chance to remove the prim socks and make a second larger pair for my boy av.

I rarely wear short hair, but I do love this adorable style from Kin and I thought it suited the shorts and tee quite well. To break up the gray scale outfit I wore a brightly multicolored bracelet from Gritty Kitty, but went without other accessories in order to keep the style comfortable and light. The expanse of bare skin is a good chance to show off the freckles and birthmarks on my Another Skin mod, which I've grown inordinately attached to.

Golden Paridisia

I tried to resist the urge, I fought it... for as long as I could, but heck, let's face it, as much as it is over-blogged and everywhere, Armidi makes great clothes that I covet. So when my sister Anessa finally said "you are coming now", and dropped a pile of $LaLas on me, I gave in and went to see what was new at Armidi. The result, this fabulous Paridisia w/ Bleu blouse and high-waited short set. The colour is what got me, as it normally is when i shop. I gravitate towards show stopping brights I don't have the guts to wear in RL. This set, with the sculptie ruffled collar is simply brilliant, and of course even though it comes as a set, can be work as separates in dozens of ways.

With a bold statement in this Orange blouse, I opted to mute down the accessories and keep them neutral. I adore these amazing sandals from *HUB*, they are bang-on current trends, with an interesting heel, and amazingly crafted textures. The Venus Sandal, here in Sand, is a fabulous shoe and if I didn't show a heck of a lot of restraint, I might have snagged it up in the half a dozen other colours it comes in. I chose a hot handbag from Adam N Eve, and really, I am so over the matchy-matchy purse and shoe thing, as long as you stay with warm metallics this season, you can mix up the tones with great success. This Burlington bag has such an interesting shape, I adore it. A set of gold Sculpted Sugar Gold Gem Bangles from ~*Fresh Baked Goods*~ is a nice simple touch, and the Scripted 12 True Gem Colour Option make them so versatile. Indeed the ~*FBG*~ shop on Retrology is OPEN as of today, with a bunch of Fresh Baked Goodies on Display, I hear that clothes are coming later this week. I am also wearing some great Full Moon Earrings from {JUNK}, and tinted them gold to go with this look.



This is NEW to me hair from KIN, and I hadn't been in a white and had forgotten how much I love their wigs. The Mairi in White is very shaggy and chic, I love the up-combed back of this style. Skin is biancaF., aptly called Oro in the Fata line, Ivory tone. The make-up options with these skins are great, and though the lips have the same pout in each on, the drama is all in the eyes with perfectly chosen lip shades. Detour Love Lashes, of course, and my still favorite after all these months Glassy Mustard Green Eyes from Freak Fantasia make up the body essentials. So I am ready to head out for a stroll in Paradise, and like that Spandau Ballet song, I am "Gold". (Remember: DJ First, Fashion Addict Second).

Back To My Roots...

If you saw a picture of my Avatar from about a year ago... this would pretty much be the look I was rockin'. Before I realized I could wear a completely different look for every different mood, I was a Grungy Brooding Rock DJ, with a Rockabilly Chaser. This week, we had a "Tats & Piercings" Event at PIN UPS, and I decided to wear my favorite tattoos again, my first awesome Prim Boots, My favorite pants with Suspenders, and I still love this look just as much now as I did then. Some things never go out of style, they are just that great!

One of the first places I remember shopping was "/artilleri/", and this Work Shirt was one of my first purchases, I love it as much now as then. Antonia Marat has come so far in the last year or so, I can't believe the range of amazing in her shop. She is just the coolest chick and an absolute doll, she currently has an really adorable Dress & Glasses out in her Mainstore that is FREE for group members, go grab it and a bunch of her other goodness too!

How can something so "WRONG!" feel so right! Yep, another one of the stores that I pretty much bought out on discovery was "WRONG!", still at home on the 'Alternation' SIM. Kaysha Sion has some really fabulous stuff for the Rocker Chick inside all of us, and these 'Sanity Pantaloons' are simply awesome, as are the 'Braces' you can buy separately in oodles of options to make the look your own. The spiked wrist bands are also from "WRONG!", and are really a wonderful accessory to have when you wanna look a little bad ass.

Canimal has some of my favorite Ink in all of SL, it is bright and bold and so fun. From Rockers to Suicide Girls, Canimal Zephyr covers you skin with some really unique designs (Does anyone need another Tribal.. Really?*lol*). This necklace is hers as well, the 'Picture Pendant' with script touch changing images that are all so funky and fresh.

This hair is a bit newer than a year ago for me, but back then I was stuck on reds in a big way, and this wig by "Kin" is a slightly updated version of some of the styles I used to covet. But can we talk boots for a moment? The fabulous 'Buckle Boots' from ETD were literally my first Prim Shoes... and I have worn them more times then I can count, they are not ankle boots, not knee length.. they are the perfect in between length that lets my leg Tat show a bit. My Lip Ring from "Red Ruin" and this Nose Stud from "Tickled Pink" called 'Uma' complete my Tatted & Pierced look Perfectly. I WANNA ROCK!! (/me makes Devil Horns and Thrashes About)

Week 6: Flickr SL - Look Of The Day Winner!

Week 6 Winner, Tinker Hax's submission was an easy choice... Her Look is Hella Cute and she definitely knows who she is! Tinker put this great look together, and having run into her in-world on occasion, I think she has a great look going on pretty much all the time. Tinker is wearing some of the *NEW* Fabulousness from "Canimal" with the Rainbows Top, those great "Armidi" boarding shoes, and has a great Mash-Up look from some of my favorite content creators in SL, as well as some I have yet to discover... I love the belt by "EKO" and will definitely be checking out the shop in world on my next outing.

As a Weekly Winner, Tinker nabs the $500L Weekly Prize from yours truly, this photo met all the criteria for a Winning Submission; having shown her look clearly, and giving us all the pertinent details so we can pick up on the "Goodness" we want for ourselves! With almost 200 members in the Flickr Second Life - Look Of The Day Group, the competition is heating up and it is getting tougher to pick out the weekly winners!
