The Way You Make Me Feel!

Wednesday, June 25th/2009; a day most of us thought would be like any other, but the sad news of Farrah Fawcett's anticipated passing this morning, followed by the shocking news of Michael Jackson's sudden death at the age of 50 changed this day in history forever.



Say what you will about Michael Jackson's freakish and bizarre later years, in the 80s, he was a g-d. I rushed home from school everyday when I was twelve and fought my three siblings for control of the record player, where I promptly played my Thriller album, again, and we all danced around the living room, knowing every word to every song. I had his poster on my bedroom wall, and I wore tiny buttons on my denim jacket, with Michael all over them. I was a true child of the 80s, and would have killed for that red studded leather jacket at one time, even though I knew it was hella dorky.



I remember the songs, the videos, and the way Michael Jackson changed the face of popular music and videos forever. I learned to do the moonwalk in stocking feet on my mother's hardwood floors. Thriller was a short film, going beyond mere music video status, I remember the night it premiered on TV, my whole family tuned in to watch. I remember the parodies of Beat It! and I'm Bad, Weird Al did so many, and that is the truest from of flattery. Those parodies are still as popular as the originals.



Michael was, to say the least, a character. But his life was both epic and tragic. We know about his legal troubles, something that bothers me still is the not knowing the truth. He never had a real childhood, the stories of his overbearing father are legendary. His entire family is a circus of freaks and eccentrics. We know about his bizarre fatherhood displays, calling his child 'blanket'. We know of his horrific plastic surgeries and his skin condition, something that has been fodder for the tabloids for decades now. But now, all I can think of are his triumphs. He was an incredible talent, he broke down a lot of walls, and he paved the way for so many artists. Justin Timberlake comes to mind, his style is so similar. So today, I threw together a look that makes me think of Michael. Military style jacket, black and white, the Jheri Curl, shades, and those white socks.

Rest in peace Michael, hope you enjoy that Neverland Ranch that is heaven and can finally find yourself, accept yourself, and feel the love you had been searching for your whole life. All I have for you today are thanks, thank you Michael Jackson, for The Way You Make Me Feel!

Punch Drunk Love

This last week, we heard news that Iris Seale of *Punch Drunk* was releasing a new line inspired by the paintings of Linda Bergkvist. I was anxious to see what Iris came up with, as I adore designers who are inspired by something other then what the runways are parading about. I was not disappointed. Iris sent me a folder with the collection, and I really loved the colours and the details of the dresses, they were really not what I expected from the mind that brought me my favorite Glam Rock Dress. I thinks that is what I like best about the collection, the diversity of it. My favorite, is this Blackbird GoGo Dress, that it somewhere between showgirl, 80s Prom, and Rock Star. The net bustle and feather like skirt are really spectacular, and I love the net ruffle on the chest. Check out *Punch Drunk*'s Enayla Collection, it is really worth a look.

I decided to pair this dress with some equally fantastic boots, these Bax Coen Ankle Boots in Black Suede can be customized dozens of ways, but I decided to pick out the purple of the dress and I think they look spectacular with the lace ruffle an exact match. I also pulled on a pair of Celestial Studios LuLu Over-The-Knee Fishnets in Black, to reflect the netting on the skirt, and I think they give the look a whole lot of sass. I went with delicate Candy Earrings and a Candy Ring from Alexander Vargas, pieces I picked up at one of the recent clothing fairs. I always admire tiny prim work, and these are sweet little pieces that could work with so many looks. A delicate necklace from -EARTHTONES- with this great Triple Later Necklace that is scripted so you can customize the crystal colours. I did opt for one chunky bracelet, and I love this *Untone* Black Heart Bracelet.



Is it becoming obvious that I am in love with *booN hair? This TOM14 Hair is another great style, really punky and sexy at the same time. I love the sections on top the resemble wings, all gelled and sprayed to stick out. Skin is *QS* Milk Skin in Disco003, another great wide-eyed look. Piles Of Curls Make For Sexy Girls

I have been a bit awol, what with all the work for the Retrology Anniversary Events, but I only missed a couple of days, so I think I can forgive myself. This look is one of my favorites, and it is largely due to this unbelievably sexy wig from *booN. This big mass of glossy curls is *booN's KAR07 Hair, I love that is is all over the place mussy, and looks really wild, the volume of it is fantastic, each individual curl looks polished and still soft and touchable. *booN has some seriously fantastic hair, and I can't believe I had never been before I ventured over about two weeks ago. Sexy hair like this calls for a sexy look, and this amazing Meredith top and high-waisted skirt set. *AnnaH* makes some seriously wonderful things, and I picked this up back at the last RFL Clothing Fair. I simply love the Green Satin top, just a perfect shade of green, and there are fantastic details on the Navy Blue Skirt.

I found the perfect Navy Shoes to match this look, although it took me about ten tries, but TESLA's Leather Vixens in Blueberry were perfection. TESLA has shoes in pretty much every colour you could ever want, and her prices are well within reach for most of us, it is a pleasure to see every new release she has, particularly since I love her styles and colours so very much. This bag was well due for it's turn out of the closet, the *Musim* Crocodile Skin Handbag in Green is just another one of the great bags they offer, and they have so many to choose from, I dare you to walk away with just one!



The Necklace and Earrings are another absolutely brilliant set from ~Muse~, sold separately they are simply incredible works of art. The prim work is masterful on this Jade and Gold Chinoiserie Collection, and the delicate beads and fans so lovely. I am wearing another fabulous piece from {Junk}, this Tangled Antique Gold Bangle is really just a great item to have in my Jewelry box, it is perfect to wear as a compliment to other more intricate Gold accented pieces.

Where Are My Eyes?

Who knew you could not wear eyes? Not me that's for sure! I was in a rush after a shoot with Nyla Rossini for my Vain Inc. Magazine Staff Picture, and removed all the items in the outfit folder I made for the occasion (a trick Anessa taught me). I quickly threw on what I had been wearing before, and jumped into my wee studio for some shots before changing into my costume for the night's Event at PIN UPS. I didn't notice till I was writing down what I was wearing, that I was infact not wearing eyes, and a jump into Edit>Appearance confirmed that they were "Not Worn", who knew? Won't make that mistake again. In any case, I am apparently wearing someone's eyes, if not my own, they belong to David Bowie on the fabulous Bowie Dress from EMERY. I always love a rock chick look, and EMERY has some of the best to be found on the grid. I paired the top with some slick looking Shiny Shiny Magic Pants from Fashionably Dead, they are tintable, but I kept them as is for the awesome liquid silver look.

I opted for red accessories for the most part, starting with these brilliant Red Glamour Metallic Pumps from [Detour], I do love a pointy toed pump! I also pulled in one of my Celestial Studios Hobo Bags, this one in Patent Cherry was a group gift back around Valentines, but I do believe you can pick one up at the shop too. To compliment the rocker look, I have this great Micci Set on from /artilleri/, I really love it, the tiny microphone Necklace and Earrings are so sweet, and I marvel at how Antie managed to get them so small and texture them so well. I pulled on this great chunky Mod Love Ring from Kandy Kitty, and stacks of Black Jelly Bracelets from Overdose/Punk by Proxy.



Hair is another great style from *booN, the UZU22 in Black is really a nice funky little casual style, I think it works really well here. Another great [RockBerry] Skin, and I can't stress enough that you must go and try them. They may not work on everyone's shape, but for only $800LaLas, you get six skins/make-ups and that is a real steal, these skins are simply fabulous and growing on me more everyday. Lashes are from Cake, the Separated Lashes really give some oomph to the eyes, especially since I am not wearing any!

Unique Belle

While I am up to my ankles in Retrology Anniversary Event related blogging and work, I didn't want to let things slide on my own blog. I have loved this dress from *Alchemy* since the moment I set eyes on it. Constanza Volare has a talent for making lovely dresses, and this Unique Dress truly lives up to it's name. I love the Zebra print top, and the bright Green sash at the waist, very on trend yet this dress has a real retro feel to it. My favorite part of all is the delicate dotted lace at the hem of the full tulle like skirt. Really a fun flirty little frock, and it comes in several sash colour variations.

I was thrilled to be able to finally find a reason to wear my new Belle Shoes from (Shiny Things). I picked up this yummy Acid pair at the Footwear Expo last week, and love the granny apple green colour so much. The purse was a no brainer for this look, pulling in another great bag from Paper Couture, the Le Sac in Zebra print is the perfect compliment to the dress. I went for some chunky jewelry here, and decided to go with a matched set from Zaara Indian Couture. The Kaya Onyx Set, which I bought in Fatpack,comes with Gold and Silver versions of Necklace, Earrings, and Bracelets. I rarely wear an entire set of Jewelry as is, but this set is really nice together, and I love that it had an almost "Wilma Flintstone" feel with this big bauble necklace next to the animal print. Gimcrack Diamond Ring is from Caroline's.



From the moment I popped this awesome wig on my head, I have received dozens of inquiries as to where I got it. I saw it on the feeds a few times, and finally decided to head over to *booN this week to get a look for myself. I ended up with four styles, but this UPP18 is by far my fave of the bunch. I did mod the front a bit, tacking on two extra bang pieces just for my own preference, but it looked fine as it was too. Skin is Canimal, the Essence of Poison is a favorite, I really love the shading on the cheeks that give it such a unique look. Miriel's Big Hazel Eyes complete the look, as I forgot to put on lashes. Together, it is a unique and beautiful look.
