Diamonds And Rust

I am really enjoying the colours of Fall at the moment, even though most of the leaves are off the tree in Toronto, I can still see them strewn across the lawn. It is pretty much my favorite time of the year, cool but not too cold, no snow to wade through or shovel, and the smell in the air is crisp and sugary. I wish the season lasted longer, but the colours can last in my closet all year long. This great Rainy Day Sweater in Rust from Celestial Studios was the starting point for this outfit. I have always loved this style of cowl neck sweater, but before sculpties it was pretty disastrous to move about in. Starley did well here, not only with the main collar, but in adding extra glitch covers at the shoulder so that even in motion, the sweater looks right. I really like this skirt from Cake's Autumn in Paris Outfit. The asymmetrical plaid skirt is full and really fashion forward. I am always looking for great skirts as separates, but rarely find them. I have way too many jeans and slacks in my inventory, but very few separate skirts. That would be tops on my request list for any interested designers in taking up the challenge. I went with a complimentary pair of tights from (CREAMSHOP).



I wanted to wear a great pair of boots that didn't steal the show, and these *REDGRAVE* Sculpties Boots in Smoke were the ones that did the trick. They have a gold accent to them, so I went with gold accessories. I wanted a nice long dangle earring with the open neckline of the sweater, and these *UnTone* Dragon Earrings are great, and come with a high prim and less primy version in the same box. The Tangled Antique Gold Bangles are from {JUNK}, I really like that they have some open areas so that you can see the colours of the sweater beneath. I took a ring from Diamonde. and tinted it a golden yellow to match the colours in this look a little better. I am not sure that it is still available, but the designer, Valena Glushenko is now designing under the Cachet umbrella at Glam World. I wanted another pop of fall colour, so I went with one of my favorite bags from *TaP*, now known as Fleur. This Heiress Handbag is great, and I really hope they still offer it, it is scripted to colour change with a click, and the shape of it and simplicity is refreshing.



With big statement earrings and a cowl neck sweater, I though a mid-length wig, with exposed ears would work best. The TRUTH Shirley 2 wig has all that, plus a little bit of funky edge, something I am always looking for. A bright red-lipped skin from Celestial Studios Charmed Line worked well here, along with eyes from Miriel and Lashes from Cake. Here's hoping Fall lasts a wee bit longer, I am not ready to wear a parka and shovel snow out of the driveway only to have it all come down again over night.

Sascha's Designs [Review]

Sascha Frangilli of Sascha's Designs contacted me recently about sending me some gowns for review. I explained that I really don't do "Reviews" in the traditional sense, I blog what I have time for, what I love, and although I graciously accept review items, I can never promise anything. It has been a while since I got all dolled up, and I have missed wearing elegant gowns. Sascha was sweet enough to send me four of her gowns, and when I found a little time this afternoon, I decided to take a peek at them. When I saw them, I was really impressed with the elegance and variety of gowns she creates, and even more pleased to note many skirt style options for each gown.

The Modest Silks

Silks are a tricky business. There are lots of fabulous silks out there, every colour imaginable, some scripted, some adorned, and some purely prim creations. But the most common feature is that they are very baring. When we have "Saturday Silks" events on occasion at PIN UPS, I always try to wear new silks, but I am not personally comfortable revealing to much skin, call me silly, I know it's just my avatar, but I am a modest person, and it just isn't my thing, it's on of the reasons I don't blog very much lingerie, which I own in truck-loads, for me personally, that is private. In any case, one of the best solutions for a modest yet sexy silks look, is this great set of Red India Silks from *Solange*. By no means inexpensive, the silks from *Solange*, sometimes labeled The Silk Raven (TSR), are worth the price for all the amazing extras they include, jewelry, multiple layer options, long or short prim silk skirts, and different sheerness layers. The colour selection is perhaps the most difficult decision you will have to make, which includes metal accent options, as the selection is extensive. *Solange* also offers other items, some really sexy dresses, and the men's silks are incredibly well made too. This India set comes with this great modest tied system skirt, I love the dangling coin texture cutouts. The singlet on the forehead is low prim, being more of an alpha texture image, but still really lovely. You can also purchase an optional add-on pack with additional traditional prim scarf skirt options.



I never wear shoes with silks, it just doesn't look right to me, so I opted for bare feet here, and went heavy on the accessories. I started with some bangles, these stacks were an in-store gift at Zaara Indian Couture, and I believe they are still available. I wore the orange set, then modified them, selecting all the orange bracelets and tinted then a dark red to match the silks. I rarely wear belly charms, but decided my exposed tummy needed a little something-something, and went with a simple ruby dangle bead from All That Glitters, there doesn't seem to be an in world location that I can find however, so I have no idea how long i have had it. Going with the ethnic themed accessories, I brought in this fabulous pair of earrings from {JUNK}, the Crescent Moon Chandelier Earrings have great intricately curved prims filling out the crescent moon shape. I also pulled in the Gold Florina Ring from (Shiny Things), I love the hammered look of the metal, the center pearl, details that would escape most unless you took a really close up look, but it is precisely the details that take my breath away. It may be a world of pixels and prims, but the talent of some creators, their efforts to bring touches of reality to our cartoon world, is astounding.



This amazing Wild Orchid hair from EXILE is completely stunning, I love attending Expo shows for this reason above all, the discovery of as yet unknown (to me) content creators. This hair is a wonderful tousled updo, with great pieces falling over the forehead and to the side, but the best part is the exceptional sculpted orchid that is scripted to touch, you can select the colour of orchid to match your look, and as with all modifiable hair, you can even remove the orchid if you wish (as my sister Anessa did). Skin is Celestial Studios Charmed Line, the smokey eyed Red-Dusk make-up adds some drama. Love lashes are from [Detour], and Hazel Eyes from Karamia. Altogether a sexy look, and the best way to go if you want to wear silks and keep a little bit left up to the imagination.

Piles Of Curls Make For Sexy Girls

I have been a bit awol, what with all the work for the Retrology Anniversary Events, but I only missed a couple of days, so I think I can forgive myself. This look is one of my favorites, and it is largely due to this unbelievably sexy wig from *booN. This big mass of glossy curls is *booN's KAR07 Hair, I love that is is all over the place mussy, and looks really wild, the volume of it is fantastic, each individual curl looks polished and still soft and touchable. *booN has some seriously fantastic hair, and I can't believe I had never been before I ventured over about two weeks ago. Sexy hair like this calls for a sexy look, and this amazing Meredith top and high-waisted skirt set. *AnnaH* makes some seriously wonderful things, and I picked this up back at the last RFL Clothing Fair. I simply love the Green Satin top, just a perfect shade of green, and there are fantastic details on the Navy Blue Skirt.

I found the perfect Navy Shoes to match this look, although it took me about ten tries, but TESLA's Leather Vixens in Blueberry were perfection. TESLA has shoes in pretty much every colour you could ever want, and her prices are well within reach for most of us, it is a pleasure to see every new release she has, particularly since I love her styles and colours so very much. This bag was well due for it's turn out of the closet, the *Musim* Crocodile Skin Handbag in Green is just another one of the great bags they offer, and they have so many to choose from, I dare you to walk away with just one!



The Necklace and Earrings are another absolutely brilliant set from ~Muse~, sold separately they are simply incredible works of art. The prim work is masterful on this Jade and Gold Chinoiserie Collection, and the delicate beads and fans so lovely. I am wearing another fabulous piece from {Junk}, this Tangled Antique Gold Bangle is really just a great item to have in my Jewelry box, it is perfect to wear as a compliment to other more intricate Gold accented pieces.

Flower Power Baby Doll

At a recent "Psychedelic 60s" event at PIN UPS Night Club, I decided to abstain from Tie-Dye and Bell Bottom Pants, and opted instead for a little Flower Power. I picked up these adorable tights at Twosome when they first set up shop in Cherry Buttons, and they may have even been freebies, but they are super adorable, and were a welcome punch of colour. I decided to pair them with this sweet Babydoll Dress from Tres Blah, called the Wanna Flow, and the fabulous new Periquita Mary Square Mary Janes in Black. Erpla's shoes are getting more and more adorable, and I just love the cute heel on these and the button details on the buckle.

I got this great Hair in a review pack from House of Heart, and though I tried on all the styles they sent over, this one, the Haley in Bitter Chocolate, is my absolute favorite. You have to try it to believe it, the flex on it is very natural, it moves like real hair, the wave is really sweet, and it is really a cute cut. I am wearing one of my old favorite skins from Celestial Studios Charmed Line, the Purple-Orchid Make-Up has always been a favorite. Eyes and Lashes are from the brilliant [Detour], and I am really excited to see what they will release next.



I am wearing a watch by Fetch, the Vega Watch in Pink, which I love because it looks so much like a fashion bangle. The necklace is the adorable Pastel Candy Necklace from +*aya V.*+, and earring are from {JUNK}, tinted a brighter yellow gold colour to match the necklace better. Yep, there it is again, my Caroline's Gimcrack Diamond Ring, my most sentimental piece of Jewelry. So this may not be a classic 60s look, but it is definitely in the spirit of the Summer of Love.

Golden Paridisia

I tried to resist the urge, I fought it... for as long as I could, but heck, let's face it, as much as it is over-blogged and everywhere, Armidi makes great clothes that I covet. So when my sister Anessa finally said "you are coming now", and dropped a pile of $LaLas on me, I gave in and went to see what was new at Armidi. The result, this fabulous Paridisia w/ Bleu blouse and high-waited short set. The colour is what got me, as it normally is when i shop. I gravitate towards show stopping brights I don't have the guts to wear in RL. This set, with the sculptie ruffled collar is simply brilliant, and of course even though it comes as a set, can be work as separates in dozens of ways.

With a bold statement in this Orange blouse, I opted to mute down the accessories and keep them neutral. I adore these amazing sandals from *HUB*, they are bang-on current trends, with an interesting heel, and amazingly crafted textures. The Venus Sandal, here in Sand, is a fabulous shoe and if I didn't show a heck of a lot of restraint, I might have snagged it up in the half a dozen other colours it comes in. I chose a hot handbag from Adam N Eve, and really, I am so over the matchy-matchy purse and shoe thing, as long as you stay with warm metallics this season, you can mix up the tones with great success. This Burlington bag has such an interesting shape, I adore it. A set of gold Sculpted Sugar Gold Gem Bangles from ~*Fresh Baked Goods*~ is a nice simple touch, and the Scripted 12 True Gem Colour Option make them so versatile. Indeed the ~*FBG*~ shop on Retrology is OPEN as of today, with a bunch of Fresh Baked Goodies on Display, I hear that clothes are coming later this week. I am also wearing some great Full Moon Earrings from {JUNK}, and tinted them gold to go with this look.



This is NEW to me hair from KIN, and I hadn't been in a white and had forgotten how much I love their wigs. The Mairi in White is very shaggy and chic, I love the up-combed back of this style. Skin is biancaF., aptly called Oro in the Fata line, Ivory tone. The make-up options with these skins are great, and though the lips have the same pout in each on, the drama is all in the eyes with perfectly chosen lip shades. Detour Love Lashes, of course, and my still favorite after all these months Glassy Mustard Green Eyes from Freak Fantasia make up the body essentials. So I am ready to head out for a stroll in Paradise, and like that Spandau Ballet song, I am "Gold". (Remember: DJ First, Fashion Addict Second).

The Future's So Bright... I Gotta Wear Shades!

While I was piecing together my look today, I got a little 'Ding Ding' IM from Melatonin Hax of Thimbles, who asked if I would like anything as a free giftie for the Grand Re-Opening of PIN UPS Night Club & Burlesque Bar tonight. When she offered to craft a special pair of shades called PINUPS, I was thrilled, I love Mel's work, and thought her offer was so sweet! So here are these fabulous Shades, available right now on the bar in the new club [Look For The Box With My Face On It... A Picture I Shot to Show Mel How Fan-Frippen-Tastic the Glasses are!]. The rest of my look was already sorted, and I was happy to give up eyelashes for the opportunity to wear these fab shades. The Mile High hair was a find this week in a little shop called Tukinowaguma Hair, or Tw for short. This style is called Lisa and I love the height of it! I am wearing one of the new skins I bought at biancaF. this week, this is the Ivory Fata LongEyes skin, and it is really a hot one! You can still see the amazing BBBM Splatter eyes through the shades, they are that great!

The well executed Heart of Glass Dress from Emery looks brilliant paired with a pair of the MUST HAVE Tintable ShinyShiny Magic Pants from Fashionably Dead. I love the spiderweb cutout on the back of this dress, so sexy, so '80s! I am rocking some great shoes from Lyanis Sin's SIN Shoes, called Daphne, I loved adding even more height to my big hair with these chunky platforms. I felt eight feet tall!

Awesome thin metallic bracelets from OPIUM Everyday, and more fabulous earrings from {JUNK}, these called the Crescent Moon Chandelier Earrings. I had been waiting for the right time to wear this Coco Necklace with Pearls from Miam Miam, and a high neck like this gives it a great backdrop. Miam Miam has always impressed with the Metal Colours scripted to change by touch. Rockin' my big rock, my engagement ring from Caroline's Jewelry, and this great Sophie Bag from Paper Couture.

Belting One Out!

Belts are in this season in a big way, so imagine my delight on finding these amazing slacks at LeeZu Baxter! They are called BellyBelt Pants, this is the Black Satin version, but it comes in about a dozen awesome colour variations. Six hot belts, not a prim in any of them, talk about your low lag accessorizing! I paired these awesome pant/jacket layer high waisted pants with the adorable Armidi Limited Faux Vest Tee in White, and I love how it again makes this outfit totally fun and a real fooler to the eye.

So of course, with low Prim clothes, I went to town with the rest of my accessories. I love these bangle sets from aya V. called the Belt and Fur Bracelet Set. Very cool, and yay for more belts on my wrists! I slid into these great Dhali Bow Platforms in Ivory Moss from Armidi, for a feminine touch to this look. I also decided on this great low prim ring from Paper Couture, called the Princess Ring, it was a gift from my sister Anessa. At 5 Prims, it is a lot of style for a very few prims, and looks flawless. Another great bag here from Bare Rose Couture, this Lucky Horseshoe Bag in Red, which is super stylish, and comes in 3 hold locations (shoulder, forearm, and hand). Almost hidden are these amazing Horn Earrings from {JUNK}, a shop that I am really keeping my eye on for new releases, since the quality of the prim-work and the price are remarkable! This look has just the right touch of the Tribal trend that is heating up the runways, without being to obvious.

I always love to pull on a feminine menswear look if i can, and this amazing Charley Hair/Hat combination from ETD is adorable! What is hotter then a Fedora on a sexy gurl! I am also wearing an amazing Freebie Skin from the *QS* Line from biancaF., it was free yesterday in the Subscribe-O-Matic group and it is remarkably perfect. If you are not already in the biancaF. They Call Me Mellow Yellow

About a week ago, while checking the Fashion Planet feeds, I saw this fabulous NEW outfit from ::eLDee::, and knew I had to have one. I love high waisted pants, and I just thought the colour combinations offered, and the amazing lovely spring fresh floral prints on the top, were divine. I headed over to ::eLDee:: this week to pick up this outfit, the Kiki 4, although all of the colour combinations available are lovely. I particularly love yellow, and so I decided to work my yellow accents, since it is the colour to have this season.

I added in these amazing chunky earrings from Creamshop, so huge (and this is the Medium size too!). The Glam earrings in Lemon are so amazing, love the details and in RL they would stretch the heck out of my earlobes, but in pixelated form they are fabulous! I pulled in more yellow with this great bag from Pampered Princess, a shop I never had even heard of before I stumbled on it this week. I got some really great items, but this Leather Purse in Honey is just so great. Any excuse to wear some Stiletto Moody is good enough for me, and I was thrilled to slip my feet into these Gold Foxy Slingbacks once again, they are so well made and always class up an outfit. I pulled in some gold accessories to go with the gold buttons on the pants, a great bracelet from {Junk}, called Tangled Antique Gold Bangles, and also decided to wear this great Long Gold Necklace from Swallowtail.

Let's talk skin for a moment. This skin is a Review Copy of the new releases from biancaF. and I must say, I can't stop looking at my face to check it out. It is just so darn pretty. I have never worn a skin with a glossy almost luminescent tone to it, and love this one. The highlighting on the face is perfection, and I took a good look at the body and it is really nice, no seams or anything that would be of concern. I did think the shading in the butt crease was a bit dark, but that is just a personal preference, and let's face it, no one is seeing my bum crack if I can help it. I am also wearing some new hair from Here Comes Trouble, another new to me shop, and I am loving the two-toned versions of their new releases. This one is simply called In and I think it is great, reminds me of the still missing in action Old Gravy. Love Love Love my Love Lashes from Detour, and still rocking my deep dark Hazel Eyes from Decollage. OK, so I may not be a very Mellow person, but I got the Yellow thing down!

My Green Heaven!

I am not Irish, I am not Catholic, heck I am not even Christian, but today I am celebrating! What you may ask... well, the Colour Green! It's always been my favorite, and in RL you never see an explosion of green simply becuase it is St. Patrick's Day. In SL however, it is the colour of the day, and has been for over a week now, so for a gal who loves green, this is better then Christmas, um.. which I also do not actually celebrate.

Today I headed over to "Ivalde", to pick up the latest freebie from Neferia Abel, and ran into Nef mid-shop. She amazes me, I seriously think she may not have slept in years, she has boundless energy, surpassed only by her boundless generosity. Nef put all the green dresses in her shop at 50% off for the holiday, and I wish I could say I picked up a pile, the thing is, I own almost every dress in the shop, a lot of them are green, so I did not over-indulge as much as I might have otherwise. I decided that today I wanted to blog Ivalde, not the new Freebie Dress (which is brilliant by the way), and not something I picked up today, but something I have had for months, and something that I have always loved, and of course, something green! This 'Judith' dress in Green is fabulous, from the shine of the satin, to the full flowing bustle in back, it is also perfect for showing off NEW SHOES!

The minute I saw that Stiletto Moody had released some of her shoes in green today, I was over the moon! Finally! My sister Anessa Stine over at On Your Toes, had blogged them this morning, and managed to get a review copy for me. I have them in red as well, but these 'Elegant Slingbacks' in 'Green Twinkle' have got to be my favorite shoes from Stiletto Moody yet, I own about 6 pair altogether, so that is saying a lot. It matched the Emerald Green of this dress so well, and shoes like these deserve to be seen.

Nef told me to go check out the St. Patty's Gift at "Elegance Hats", and while there I picked up this wonderful hat called the 'Valena 1'. Morrigan Hyun really does have such a flair for primwork ans texturing in her hats, they deserve to be in the spotlight more then they are. Some retro fabulous hair from "Ingenue" made me feel about as Irish as a lass could feel, and my Irish 'Green' eyes, these from "Sh*t Happens" were definitely smiling. These dramatic lashes from "Celestial Studios" look great with this 'Drama' skin from their 'Charmed Line'. Jewels from "Swallowtail", "{JUNK}", and "Paper Couture" polish off my look of the day.

WEEK 1: Flickr SL - Look Of The Day Winner!

I chose this "Look Of The Day" by Luna Jubilee as the winner of the fist weekly contest. It really has all the things I think make a great look, a sense of personal style, attention to detail, a nice mix and match of pieces from several great designers, all the details so anyone can recreate this look, and an over-all WOW factor.
