Layering Up For The Fall

It is getting cooler, the weather in Toronto is starting to turn to fall, and the days are getting shorter. This past week, Draco was out of town and without access to Internet or Phone for most of it, and I was feeling the upcoming fall season a little early, it's funny how the absence of a loved one can make you feel cold. I decided it was time to start layering up, I prefer cold weather looks and layers, I think it is the combination of system elements that can make a really individual look. I started this one off with a great new pair of jeans from Liberte, these Blue Fashion Jeans are a nice dark colour, a nice basic pair. I adore my t-shirts from Pushbutton Industries, particularly because they come with all possible layer options, tucked and un-tucked. This one, from a set called Old Fruit Tees, actually comes with several shirt designs in one pack, this one is called Fifi. I loved the green set, but there are several colour sets available. I covered up with this great Knit Bomber Jacket from *Winter Moon*, a really great piece, and it comes with a zipped or un-zipped version, so you can show more or less of what is beneath it. On the week-end, my sister Anessa teleported me in to a Fashion Show she was participating in, and one of the designers showcased was Sweetest Good-bye. Previously unknown to me, I stopped to look at some of the vendors set up at the show, and immediately grabbed this amazing scarf, simply named Candy in Ivory, it came with two versions, and is scripted to texture change with a click. A really cool accessory to have, versatility and scripting make it even more fabulous. I also nabbed this great Tote Bag while at the fashion show, a freebie, but I am not sure if it available as such in store or not, definitely worth a look, the clothes from Sweetest Good-bye are right up my alley style wise. Comfortable, cool, a bit street, and lots of fun.



I love kitsch and cute little accent accessories, and had my eye on this adorable Oggie Doll from Chicanery for a long time. During the CSR event, as I was making my rounds, I finally made him mine. It made me feel better to cuddle this well-loved looking fellow while missing my man. The boots are a great pair of Buckle Boots from ETD Shoes, I chose the Moss colour naturally, I simply cannot resist green, but what makes them really special to me is the fact that some of the first prim boots I owned were this same Buckle Boot. The difference now is that Elika has created a sculpted version, and the colour selection is fantastic. The earrings are a no-brainer for me, my standby favorites from Drifting Sands, the Tunnel Multi Set Ear Piercings are a great mixed set of piercings. Also wearing my Gimcrack Diamond Solitaire Ring from Caroline's Jewelry.



Another great Hair Fair find is this fabulous Katie style from ~Tickled Pink~. Surfing the lag with my friend Trixi, we both fell in love with it, she picked up the pink version, naturally, and it really looks great on everyone I have seen it on. Skin is another from the Canimal Essence Line, this make-up is the great smokey-eyed Roses make-up. I think what I like best about these skins is that I have not found anything even remotely similar looking in my travels, they have a really unique look, as do most of the offering from Canimal, they really side-step the photoreal model skin look, which doesn't suit my face as well for some reason. Love Lashes from [Detour], and Hazel Eyes from Celestial Studios Natural Series complete the Essentials. I am ready to embrace the colder weather, ready to get back to layering up.

Anchors Away Me Mates!

As you have all noticed by now, I make multiple posts to my blog on most days. This is not because I sit around my loft thinking up outfits for the sole purpose of blogging them. I usually have one outfit I piece together and wear as a "Look Of The Day", for shopping or visiting friends, and then as the Events get started at my club, PIN UPS, I have to change into Event Specific Costumes. So yes, I actually do wear these looks, for at least a few hours, and I am usually logged solidly (barring crashes) for about 10 hours a day, sometimes more... g-d help me!

Yesterday we had one of our classic events, the "Anchors Away" Party... and that's when we all get Nauti, er, Nautical. I have worn this look before for the same event, but had never blogged it, but since it is one of my favorites, and features a complete look from one of my favorite designers in SL, I thought it was time to give it a moment in the Sun. The Bikini Top, Skirt, Tattoos, and even this fabulous Sculptie Hat all come in a set called 'Nautical Waste' from "Winter Moon". It is PIN UP Fabulous! I love the fullness of the skirt, and if you look close at the hat, you can see that they carefully textured it to mirror the logo into the Patent Leather Brim. I love details like that. The Tats are a bonus, and are placed so you can see them, but come in undershirt layer in case they are not your thing, so you can leave them out. I decided to wear some Fishnets with it, these from "Celestial Studios" 'LuLu' Line which come in a pack of three colours on tone, so I selected the Gray Pack to get the black pair too, Fishnets are a tricky business in SL, the system elements play havoc when you go from foot to leg, and often cause a weird stretch effect, but I think these are well done in order to compensate for that problem. And yes, my 'ChiChi' shoes from "Maitreya" come in handy once again, as I own them in Black and White. I know they will be put to good use with all the Rim Colour Options. I can never do sexy looks without a little kitsch, so these fab Retro Eyeglasses from "/artilleri/" really funk up this look!

Under The Mistletoe...

This new hair from "Calla", The Mistletoe in the Two Tone Pack is Brilliant! Love at first sight and I want to wear it all the time. This colour most matches my RL hair, as I have had a ever widening gray streak in the front since I was 12! I just think it is brilliant and softens the whole look of the outfit. This soft fur Hoodie, from "amerie's Naughty" is cuddly and warm with a fluffy Marabou trimmed collar. I love the teal colour of it, and was thrilled to find it looked so fabulous with these crackling boots from the amazing "Maitreya". Paired with a freebie skirt from "Winter Moon" and some great accessories, this look has to be one of my all time favorites!
