Ruby Tuesday

On Tuesday night, my fella of 21 months Draco, celebrated his RL birthday. We started the evening at PIN UPS where DJ Azu was doing his thing for a "Best in Red" event, and ended up at another club dancing to some great Jazz and Standards. I decided to put together a sexy look in red so that I didn't have to change between events, and came up with this great Gertie Dress in Red from ~~Ivalde~~. Nef passes me some of her new releases from time to time, so when I finally get a change to take a look, I am always pleasantly surprised. I have to admit it, I am a girl who loves a system skirt, I just like a sleek silhouette, and when done well, they can be so lovely. This dress had a great system skirt, but also three-part ruffled prim hemline. I really love the satiny look of the skirt, and think that the added touch of the sheer straps and flexi scarves on the back are really lovely. This dress has a fabulous Latin feel to it, really sexy and classy at the same time. I wanted to keep it in a more retro framework, so I went with some seamed stockings from 1-800-Bettie's. The Stiletto Moody Elegant Slingbacks in Ruby were a good colour match, and added a bit of sparkle for a special night out.



When I wear a dress with details like the flowing scarves so close to the neck, I don't wear a necklace with it, it just seems like a lot of clutter to me. I opted instead for a big showy earring from (CREAMSHOP). The Glam Earring in Red is almost too big, but that is the fun of it, and I own them in three colours. Perhaps even more hysterical is that the size I am wearing is the medium, there is a large version as well. Some complimentary sleek Gold and Resin Bangles from [VG Republic] worked nicely here, as they are scripted to texture/colour change to compliment your look. The set comes with three versions, and I like to mix and match from wrist to wrist.



The Latin vibe of this dress made hair choice easy, this Milonga wig from le salon at comme il faut is so retro and classic, it really evokes a sexy Josephine Baker look. I wanted a glittery evening look with my skin, by didn't want a coloured lip, particularly not red that would likely clash with the coral red of the dress. The answer is this lovely Gold Glitter skin from Celestial Studios Charmed Line. I love wearing these skins for fancy dress occasions, one of the reasons I think Starley is such a huge talent. These Charmed skins are not the newest or most realistic on the grid, but I really love the look of them on my avatar, they have a more illustrated look as opposed to hyper-realistic, which has never been my style. Lashes are from Cake, and some of my favorite eyes are from Miriel.

Today Moire Georgette was to release her new skin and hair line at the comme il faut Mainstore with a fun treasure hunt for Exclusive Gifts. Unfortunately, Moire's working Touch Scripts for the hunt and her vendors seem to have broken overnight, thank-you LL. Moire has been up most of the day & night struggling with this and trying to sort it out, so unfortunately the Treasure Hunt has been postponed.

Moire sent me copies of the Three Exclusive Skins and Three Hair Styles in Exclusive Colors. And as soon as the hunt is back on, I will show you exactly why they are more then worth the wait. Hope Moire is sleeping well, and the Hunt gets back on track soon.

le salon by Moire Georgette - Exclusive Gift Hunt Tomorrow

Moire Georgette is releasing her new skin and hair line this Friday, July 18th/08, at the comme il faut Mainstore with a fun treasure hunt for Exclusive Gifts.

Le Salon will be holding a Treasure Hunt for Three Exclusive Skins and Three Hair Styles in Exclusive Colors. This Hunt may be slightly more challenging than most treasure hunts; Players will have to find and touch three items of each kind in order to receive their prizes. Items are shampoo bottles, hair dryers, perfume flasks and other beauty products matching the 'beauty salon' theme. Here are some pictures of the Skins and Hair you will find in the new le salon store, all clothing worn is also from Moire's comme il faut line. The actual hunt treasures are still TOP SECRET.

The new Dulce (Spanish for "Sweet") Skin Line, took almost three months to development, until Moire felt the perfect look was achieved. It has some photo sourced elements, yet a distinctive hand drawn feel, characteristic of Moire's creations. Its most prominent feature are certainly the pouty, kissable lips, carefully drawn on the template to enhance the avatar face. The skin also has tintable eyebrows for a perfect match, and comes with a face light, prim eyelashes and a complimentary shape. Le Salon - Dulce comes in four skin tones, named Cream (a pale, rosy tone), Custard (natural Caucasian color), Cake (a sun kissed, healthy tan), and Caramel (a Latina inspired darker tan). Nine makeups are available for this release, with more coming soon. Ethnic skin tones are also in development.

If You Want Attention...

In response to her questions about a new flickr group called "Thinspo in SL", Tenshi Vielle was told "If you want attention, wear a watermelon around your neck" by the groups founder. The group is basically promoting unhealthy looking avatars and idolizing chachexic (it means a wasted body, as in one that has used every single fat cell to keep itself alive... pays to be an RN) and possibly anorexic RL models, and using these images as "Thin Inspirations" and ideals to strive towards.



Tenshi Vielle, among a number of other advocate bloggers, brought the issue to the fore on her blog. In the commentary that followed Tenshi's post on Shopping Cart Disco, she highlighted this ludicrous response to her attempt to join the Flickr group. My comments stated that if someone would make me a Watermelon Necklace, I would wear it and blog it; Because if being anti-PRO ANOREXIA is seeking attention, then count me in!



Moire Georgette of bossa nova fame and the new comme il faut brand promptly dropped this baby on me, and I just got around to wearing it. Sorry for the delay Moire! Embrace the Watermelon People... It is your friend! No one is saying that thin is evil and fat is good, but the promotion of an unhealthy lifestyle in any form is deplorable.
