Back To My Roots...

If you saw a picture of my Avatar from about a year ago... this would pretty much be the look I was rockin'. Before I realized I could wear a completely different look for every different mood, I was a Grungy Brooding Rock DJ, with a Rockabilly Chaser. This week, we had a "Tats & Piercings" Event at PIN UPS, and I decided to wear my favorite tattoos again, my first awesome Prim Boots, My favorite pants with Suspenders, and I still love this look just as much now as I did then. Some things never go out of style, they are just that great!

One of the first places I remember shopping was "/artilleri/", and this Work Shirt was one of my first purchases, I love it as much now as then. Antonia Marat has come so far in the last year or so, I can't believe the range of amazing in her shop. She is just the coolest chick and an absolute doll, she currently has an really adorable Dress & Glasses out in her Mainstore that is FREE for group members, go grab it and a bunch of her other goodness too!

How can something so "WRONG!" feel so right! Yep, another one of the stores that I pretty much bought out on discovery was "WRONG!", still at home on the 'Alternation' SIM. Kaysha Sion has some really fabulous stuff for the Rocker Chick inside all of us, and these 'Sanity Pantaloons' are simply awesome, as are the 'Braces' you can buy separately in oodles of options to make the look your own. The spiked wrist bands are also from "WRONG!", and are really a wonderful accessory to have when you wanna look a little bad ass.

Canimal has some of my favorite Ink in all of SL, it is bright and bold and so fun. From Rockers to Suicide Girls, Canimal Zephyr covers you skin with some really unique designs (Does anyone need another Tribal.. Really?*lol*). This necklace is hers as well, the 'Picture Pendant' with script touch changing images that are all so funky and fresh.

This hair is a bit newer than a year ago for me, but back then I was stuck on reds in a big way, and this wig by "Kin" is a slightly updated version of some of the styles I used to covet. But can we talk boots for a moment? The fabulous 'Buckle Boots' from ETD were literally my first Prim Shoes... and I have worn them more times then I can count, they are not ankle boots, not knee length.. they are the perfect in between length that lets my leg Tat show a bit. My Lip Ring from "Red Ruin" and this Nose Stud from "Tickled Pink" called 'Uma' complete my Tatted & Pierced look Perfectly. I WANNA ROCK!! (/me makes Devil Horns and Thrashes About)

Korny Gothic Energy

A few weeks back, when it was brand spanking new, I picked up this adorable Jacket/Dress from "~Ivalde~" called 'Korny'. I loved it on sight, and choose the Purple Set because it is a colour I have neglected recently. I love that the set comes with a full pant and cuff option, or these fabulous grey tights, which are both included. Neferia always amazes me with her range, everything from 18th Century French Revolution, to the most current fashions, and literally everything in between. I also love how versatile her stuff is, this coat could have inspired a much more classic look, but works just as well with this slightly Gothic look I have working.

So I have been heavily indulging in the "Philotic Energy" lately, and one look at this Hair/Hat Combo can explain why, it is simply magnificent! Unique, Modern, Edgy, and So Inventive! You won't see it in these still pictures, but on the small hat with goggles, there is a little gear box on the side, and if you look close, it is an animated texture, so the gears appear to be spinning away... details like that are quickly making "PE" on of my favorite hair shops on the Grid. This style named 'Shelby' is a work of art, and can go Gothic or steam punk, or just plain kitschy in a snap!

These 'Asuka' boots are now becoming heavy favorites for me, they are from "Lassitude & Ennui" and have both silver or golden button options in the folder, so you can really customize the look and get more use out of them. I grabbed up a Gothic accent, this adorable handbag from "Bastchild Designs", and I really loved the way this look came together! So I am all set to go... Today is shopping day and I am already down about $8,000L, lets see how much more damage I can do to my $L Balance before I DJ Tonight at PIN UPS, it's going to be a "Made in The 80s" Event, and I have always said there needs to be more 80s Fashion in SL. What I wouldn't give for a Fluorescent Yellow Bat Wing Sweatshirt and Acid Wash Jeans!

Delightful Charisma

At a recent "Shagadelic 60s" Event at PIN UPS, I decided to re-visit one of my favorite looks from "Marlys", the 'Delightful Rubina' Retro Hair and Outfit. Sold separately, they are just so fun, and the fabulous Fro with the Headscarf is so easy to wear! The Top is sweet with an asymmetric collar and hem, and a really great Funky retro pattern. The Skirt is a really sexy number, with sheer lace that leaves little to the imagination, but also made me feel covered enough to get away with it.

At the event, I wore one of my regular "Celestial Studios" skins, but when I went to photograph this look, I decided to try on one of the skins sent to me in a Review Package from Canimal Zephyr. The first one I tried on was this lovely dark 'Charisma' skin from Canimal's new 'Essence' Line. The skins are lovely on the whole, very nicely blended make-ups and I love that Canimal also went to the trouble of developing different brows to work with her skins, a really nice touch. Although it may not be a skin I would wear on a daily basis, let's face it... I am stuck on my Celestials, it is really lovely, and I didn't have to do any shape mods to make it work on my face. I felt like a delightful Ebony Goddess in this skin. I finally got some use out of these "bianca F." lashes, which I have been trying to fiddle with to get to fit forever, they look much more natural with a darker skin, and the gaps between prim lash and eye are not so obvious here.

For shoes, I really didn't know what direction I wanted to go, but then remembered on of my very first purchases from "Stiletto Moody", before her store had officially opened was this adorable Pucci print inspired bootie. I had never worn them, but they fit in perfectly with this look. I kept Jewelry Simple, with a smart bangle from "Shiny Things" and this adorable 'Knit Bead' necklace from "Swallowtail". I think the necklace has a really nice almost Macrame feel to it, very 60s' and very versatile. Now all I need to do is get in line at 'Studio 54' and hope I look hot enough to make it in the door!

Back To Work...

Sometimes, yous just have to roll up your sleeves and get down to business, we are re-tweaking a bit at PIN UPS, trying some new things, revisiting our roots... it's hard work to keep a Club alive in SL, keep things fresh, especially after 1 year plus of events. So I felt like dressing the part, getting all down-to-business like, with my own personal spin on it. I wish I remembered where I got this Blouse & Vest Combo, and it is not labeled clearly, but I have always liked it... it is made by "Shin Mathilde", but the profile seemed to lead me down a lot of empty roads. I loved the smokey colour of the vest, and paired it with these fabulous dressed up Cargo Pants from "REDGRAVE". The are cargos, but they have just enough chic style to make them dressy too.

Can I talk about this amazing Hair for just a moment... it is "Philotic Energy", and it is Devine! A kicking Up-Do, with a colour scripted head band, a little dressy, a little casual, "Iseult" is just a brilliant and unique style, something I have come to appreciate about "PE". Some chunky bangles, and this delish "Coco" necklace from "Miam Miam" complete the dressed up look for me. I loved wearing these "Maitreya" shoes again, the 'Limelights' are just so versatile, and work great with pants or skirts, without interfering with system pant hems or looking too chunky for skirts. Alright kids... lets get back to work now!

Week 8: Flickr SL - Look Of The Day Winner!

This weeks Second Life - Look Of The Day winner made a 'Splash' in a big way! The minute I saw that Chalice Carling listed the Perfume her Avatar was wearing in the shoot... I nearly pissed myself! I have a soft spot for anything retro, and Chalice put together a look worthy of an Esther Williams Ziegfeld Follies Number! I was transported to Sunday mornings with my grandmother, watching lavish musical numbers where showgirls did synchronized swimming, filmed from above... WOW... I wish there was more of that in SL!

Chalice has pulled together an adorable look, from the tip of her Pink "Swim Cap" to the adorable bow around her waist. It is a really great shot, and the photoshopped in background makes it so special. Chalice has pulled together pieces from a lot of great content creators, and include a whole lot of Kitsch too, like the blingy 'Chanel' necklace, which makes me giggle! All the details for her look are included, which is the only "Rule" for submissions to the Flickr pool if they are to be considered for the weekly contest. I love that even the shoes she wore (not shown) are credited, so you can imagine what she would have put together completely. Big Bomb Diva

I have a ridiculous sense of humor sometimes, I like things that border on the absurd. So here I am, wearing maybe the biggest Wig in all of SL, the coveted 'Big Bomb' Hair from BettitPage Voyager's "BP*", and I decided it yet needed something more... yep, a fancy hat! I just thought that this hair, which has been worn (and blogged) by everyone and their SL uncle, needed a little personalization. "Elegance Hats" has had a home on Retrology since the SIM opened, and this amazing hat is one of Morrigan's Newest Creations, the 'Betty Golden Pheasant'. I wanted it the minute I saw it, and just love the green of the feathers, it matched the rest of this look so well. I have dozens of hats, I usually forget to wear them... but this one simply cannot be forgotten!

The dress, the new 'Lady Minx' in Green from "Mimikri" is a brilliant ruched heaven. Yes, my addiction for the colour green knows no bounds! And even though this dress comes is half a dozen delicious colours, I simply had to go for the green! I love the matching gloves, and though this look was very couture and quite a switch-up for me. I seriously tried every pair of tights in my inventory on, hoping I could get this look a little more funk-a-fied, but in the end decided that the best match was a simple pair of Tan hose, these from "Blaze". The shoes are some of my favorites, and every time I wear them I am determined to head back over to "Lassitude & Ennui" and grab more of their brand of fabulous. I threw on the wardrobe staple 'Cameo & Sautoir' necklace from "Boing Fromage", if you don't own it already... what are you waiting for, it is just too fun and can be worn with so many different looks! This Look is Big, It's 'Da Bomb', and I am such a Diva!
